Location was perfect, staff all really friendly & accommodating, plenty of choice for breakfast. There are some bad reviews about this place. Ignore them. Yes it’s a little tired and in need of some TLC but it’s such good value for money. I don’t care about a bit of peeling paint or a scuffed skirting board as long as it’s clean, has a comfy and warm bed, a hot working shower, fresh towels and the staff are helpful. That’s a big tick to all the above and the breakfast included in the price was bonus. Suited our needs perfectly and I would stay again.

We loved the breakfast and we're lucky to be there on a steak night, which was excellent. The location was right next to a wonderful park to exercise our dog in and the staff were all very welcoming to the dog. The free parking was a bonus.

The room was cold but warmed up when we used the extra radiator provided. I couldn't work the shower but enjoyed a bath instead. There were a lot of stairs for my husband, who is disabled but we hadn't mentioned this when we booked.

First impressions from outside are mixed, thanks to location next to derelict business, but Waterford Lodge is a treasure. We enjoyed pleasant welcome, large room & comfy bed, quiet at night, plenty tea/coffee in room, easy parking, dog was happy too; large and comfy bar downstairs had plenty of room for our group, full-service breakfast cooked to order was excellent & plenty of filter coffee available with it.

Bathroom was from a previous era - roomy enough but shower was weak and slow - hot bath filled quicky to make up for it

Ideal for our overnight stay in this lovely town. The Lodge was close to the town centre with easy access. All staff members we met were friendly, helpful and efficient. The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. The breakfast , included in the booking, was excellent with a very good selection of food available and the full breakfast was cooked perfectly and served very quickly. We also enjoyed dinner in the restaurant both our meals were beautifully cooked, presented very well and tasted delicious. We would definitely recommend staying there.

The bathroom was big and very clean but we couldn’t get the hot water to run in the shower. However the hot tap for the bath worked well so it was not a major issue. No other negative comments to be made as we were very happy with our experience.

The staff were amazing! We had originally booked for one night as a part of our stay on the way to out trip around Scotland, however as the hotel we had booked for the night before was less than suitable, we called and asked if they had a room available the day prior to our booked stay and thankfully they did. We were out in room 11 for the first night. The room was cleaned to a good standard and was clearly decorated somewhat recently and was more modern. We had dinner in the restaurant that evening also and found it to be excellent value for money. We are quite picky, but my children loved the burgers which were amazing quality and the chilli I had was delicious and the portion sizes were great. We were really shocked at the cost of them, and noted to the staff that we would happily have paid double without thinking twice about it. Breakfast was a bit confusing to navigate, but we appreciate we did turn up at the 11th hour. The cooked breakfast was good and the staff were really accommodating and kind. For our second night we were in room 4 which I think hadn’t been modernised yet. However it was a good amount of space (a double and two singles) with plenty of space to move around. Ultimately we’re not really sure on how they manage to keep their prices so low for food and accommodation as our breakfast was included in the cost too. It’s not the ritz, but Ive stayed in a lot worse for a LOT more money. It’s cheap and cheerful, and I will emphasise the cheerful part. The staff were absolutely lovely: I don’t want to use incorrect pronouns (so apologies if I am!) but there was a member of staff with short black hair and a lip stud who was absolutely fabulous on our second night here. They went above and beyond and was really kind and patient with our two children (who could probably make a nun swear in all honesty). They were so helpful and honestly a credit to the place. We’d like to thank all the staff, and would thoroughly recommend staying here to anyone.

The car park is on the smaller side. It did fit our VW transporter with ease alongside around 15 other cars, however it was quite busy so that is something i was a bit conscious of. I also think breakfast could have been explained a little better, but it’s nothing to really grumble about. Ceiling in room 4 was a little dusty but again for the price we really weren’t bothered

Very good sized room, comfy bed and plentiful towels which were a good size and fluffy Staff all very helpful Didn't have breakfast but food in the evening was good Good parking area and very central location Large external seating area, just a shame the weather was so poor.

Its an old building so the water pressure was poor. Plenty of hot water, it just took a while to pull it through. Wifi in the room virtually non existent due to thick walls, but it was excellent in the reception area, which had a seating area. Location is close to a busy main road so traffic noise in the morning External frontage a bit faded

Breakfast included was a nice touch Restaurant & Bar was really nice Great choice of drinks Diana (server) Food was sublime!! Great location

The ceiling in my room was in poor condition and so was the armchair (room 8) For the price, I couldn’t really knock the room too much tbh

Was delayed due to storm and arrived at 1am and staff was very courteous The beds were very comfortable Breakfast was very good and a great variety and value for money, from choices of cereals, fruits yogurt etc to lovely cooked breakfasts and even offering to cook the baby some scrambled eggs and the staff were very friendly

Some signs of damp on bedroom wall and was cold when we arrived all be it 1am and took a while to heat up, all though that didn’t affect our sleep as the beds were very comfy

Lovely place with a pub/restaurant on site. Great location in the town. Good sized room with nice outlook. Tea and coffee making facilities supplied in the room, toiletries and fresh clean towels included. Breakfast was plentiful with good choices. Staff very friendly and helpful. Private parking at the rear of the pub or public parking in the front. Walking distance to town centre. Only 30mins drive to Newcastle and plenty of interesting places to visit. Would stay here again if in the area.

A well located inn close to town and amenities. Good staff and excellent breakfast. Rooms clean and warm plus coffee etc on hand. Security good and on site parking plus 5 min walk to the station. Dog friendly ✔️🐶…. Lle cartefol iawn a croeso cynnes hefyd. 9/10

Nothing : Dim Byd. A touch updating of window frames etc but hey ho - very good value indeed.
