Hotel looked like it’s just been refurbished and had a fresh relaxing feeling . Room we stayed in had 2 king sized beds which were comfortable, 2 bathrobes and slippers we used for the swimming pool/ spa area . We enjoyed the bar area which had different seating areas with TVs so we could watch sport with a drink (bar staff were really accommodating when asked if we could watch a specific football game on sky sports) we sat in a cozy corner which had 2 sofas . Breakfast was hot and cold buffet with quality food and coffee from the machines was really good . We stayed here because it was close to Beamish and Alnwick castle both approx 30 mins drive away .

Room was basic but fine for the purpose of our stay. Staff were all amazing from check-in to waiter staff and bar staff.

Bed was comfortable however sofa bed was the pits, thin thin mattress that meant you felt every part of the frame. Son had to sleep in with me. Given I was an IHG member and booked through the app, I was disappointed to find out that those vbooking throguh booking.com and alternative booking providers actually got a lesser rate than me and they also got upgraded to a room with a fridge. Also fire alarm went off (technical fault) meaning we were wakened at 5am and couldn't get back to sleep, not ideal when my son was competing at British championships. No offer of discount or refund.

I have to admit that I didn’t know what to expect with the Holiday Inn. I was positively surprised. The hotel has a large and bright entrance, very welcoming reception with a very friendly and helpful staff. Great size, clean room with a nice bathroom. I would definitely stay there again. Hotel area, restaurant and facilities are very clean. Reasonable size gym, pool with jacuzzi, sauna and steam room are handy if you’re into fitness or just need a little chill time while you staying there.

Absolutely spotless. Clean, spacious, anything and everything you need. Breakfast was stunning. All such high quality and everything the whole family wanted. Rooms were brilliant. Love the complimentary bathroom bits and very comfy nights sleep. Staff incredibly friendly and helpful and have all the time for the world for you. The spa and swim facilities are also excellent and all of this for £150 odd a night for a family room with 2 kings! Amazing.

Hmmmm, that I had to leave and didn’t have time to stay longer. I’ll be back.

Staff were amazing. Whilst breakfast was finished staff could not do enough for our grandchild. They advised if items were not available they would get them for her. Telephone staff were very helpful in that we extended our stay and whilst the reception staff were not able to guarantee the same room the telephone booking service managed to support us so we didn’t have to change rooms. Facilities were great bar area was very clean as was all other areas including the toilets.

There could be more disabled parking slots near the front reception area. We did not know there was additional disabled parking to the rear until the last evening.

Room was very spacious and good for a family of 3. From the outside it is very deceiving as to the comfort of the hotel, which was a pleasant surprise. We have used this hotel twice now and will definitely come back.

It is a venue used for events, wddings etc. and sometimes the noise from the conference rooms wasa bit too much. However, it was manageable, as the events did not go late into the night. Would like to hear more music piped in the open bar spaces.

The Staff , especially on the front reception and the bar were exceptional. So friendly and warm . We loved our stay and will definitely be back. The football table and the pool for the kids were a fantastic extra . Room was spacious and clean . Couldn't fault a thing.... if I was to be really picky I was slightly miffed when there was no soap in any of the showers in the spa. I did tell the man on the desk but was the same the next day .

I was told the chef was busy to make well done eggs that I had requested for. It's not everyone who eat underdone eggs.

I was not happy when I requested for well done fried ggs and told the chef was busy and yet I had paid. The eggs were fried came back runny again and I could not eat them and I gave up. All customers should be treated the same with our preferences taken into consideration. MY BREAKFAST WAS SPOILED.

The hotel was experiencing issues with the fire alarm, which resulted in it sounding off on approx 5 occasions throughout the night. They were very apologetic, and we're trying to resolve the problem, unfortunately it was just one of those things.

I was attending a two day course at the venue and enjoyed my stay at the hotel. The hotel and room was very clean and comfortable, facilities were also good I used the gym and plan to use the pool on my next visit. I didn’t have breakfast but we had a hot buffet lunch on the course which was very good. Bar area was clean, spacious and the group met there in the evening.

Would have been nice to walk around the grounds, nothing much around the hotel
