The setting of the hotel is great, on the edge of Jesmond Dene, but a short car ride or Metro into Newcastle city centre. However, Jesmond is a thriving suburb with lots of good restaurants & independent shops. The hotel itself was very beautiful, with a cosy lounge & bar. The breakfast was very good & the room warm & comfortable with a double sink bathroom & walk in shower. All the staff we encountered were very friendly & helpful.

Our room booking already included breakfast so we invited our sons to have breakfast with us as they were staying at the house of one them. We were told we didn’t need to prebook & pay so we were a little annoyed to find that a service charge had been added to the cost of their breakfasts when we settled our bill. I completely understand on the bar purchases & room service, but not for breakfast.

Very nice old building with lots of character, and is well maintained. Very pleasant public rooms and our bedroom was tastefully decorated with an excellent bathroom. Staff were very pleasant and helpful.

Our only area of disappointment was the limited continental breakfast provision and its high cost. It was probably the poorest selection of cheeses, cold meats, and fruit options in any hotel we have stayed over the last few years. Also a service charge was applied to the breakfast cost which seemed unnecessary given the limited options and high cost. In addition there were no gluten free cereal or pastry options. However the main breakfast menu had quite a few gluten free options but cost £21 plus a service charge.

Staff were friendly. We were given a room upgrade for our anniversary and had a welcoming card and chocolates. The room was nice with added features and a pleasant view in pleasant surroundings. The bed was very comfortable. The bar and lounge were pleasant and enjoyed breakfast in the orangery. Breakfast choice and quality were excellent

I believe there was a pool as we found robes but a bit of a distance away and that wasn’t made clear. There wasn’t a great menu choice in the bar where a few more options would have been nice and maybe a little costly for the portion size. There were a few children in when we went and lacking much choice for them.

Really lovely hotel and very comfortable room. The room was spotless and well furnished and the location of the hotel is great with access to Jesmond Dene just a couple of minutes from the door. Quiet at night and very peaceful and relaxing!

It really felt like all the attention of the staff was on the restaurant and not the hotel, as every time assistance or request was made, it took a long time to get anyone to attend or answer and it seemed like an imposition. Although the food was delicious, the portion sizes were very small for the price!

We were in Newcastle to attend a family wedding. Lisa and Linda were amazing looking after us from the minute we arrived. Alex helped me get ready for the wedding when I had a wardrobe malfunction. Thank you girls for making our stay amazing. The only fault we found was some foreign staff male and female making a joke of me trying to tailor a vegetarian dish, mocking me in their own language. I think it was Polish we could make out some of what was being said. It was rather embarrassing and unnecessary!

The hotel itself is beautiful, the staff are lovely, although I was put in a side building with construction outside, so it made the experience less enjoyable than I was expecting. The room didn’t look the same as online/ on Booking.com, so that was also a disappointment in terms of the bathroom and layout of the bedroom. I think it should be known that you’re not in the main house when booking, as the separate building is not as beautiful and charming as the main period property. I did get a free early check-in, when I mentioned this, but I had to ask for it rather than it being offered complimentary. Also, I ordered a bottle of champagne to be ready in my room and it didn’t arrive for over an hour. They also didn’t seem to be aware that I had pre-arranged via email, for a very early check-in and the champagne- communication could be improved.

We've had a perfect stay in Jesmond Dene house over the festive period, so much so that we extended our stay for an extra night, the room was wonderful and the food at "fern" was exceptional wither it was for breakfast of dinner, the bed was very comfortable and were lucky to have good weather which allowed for lovely walks in Jesmond Dene.

The Room's bathroom design was a bit awkward, also it felt at times that service was not always consistent as the more regular staff were excellent but some of the temporary staff need more training, it will be nice to see additional facilities added the the house such as a spa or gym as it will really add the an already great place.

The shower was very easy to use and the water was at the perfect temperature straightaway. The breakfast was excellent and very good value offering a full English and a continental breakfast for a reasonable price. The bed was very comfortable and the room was warm. The location was truly lovely; my wife and I enjoyed a long stroll through Jesmond Dene to the pets corner.

The evening meal was overpriced and the portions too small. When the menu says cauliflower I expect more then 4 little florets. Plus a sausage is not half a sausage. It was tasty though and the muse bouche was a nice surprise.

Room very comfortable - upgrade appreciated - unfortunately too windy to be able to enjoy our private garden but we did have a visit from a baby hedgehog. We enjoyed a short walk into the Dene, which is a lovely area to have right behind the hotel

Lovely toiletries in bathroom BUT very difficult to get sufficient soap from dispenser in shower without very many presses, and not enough room to get a sponge/shower scrub etc underneath to catch if. It took us a while to work out how the lamps and wall switches connected with one another.

Beautiful inside and out, stylish, quality decor. Very welcoming. We didn't travel by car but parking available and easy taxi booking, never waited more than 5-10 minutes although we hadn't prebooked. We were staying at Jesmond Dene House for its close proximity to Freeman Hospital so due to hospital procedure we didn't partake of breakfast but we had a meal on the evening we arrived - the chef was very accommodating for a dairy and soya free meal and it was worth every penny, delicious. Great range of drinks at the bar too. Reception and dining staff were very welcoming and so helpful. Would like to stay again under better circumstances so we can fully partake of the amenities.
