Enjoyed it here - quiet with few guests midweek which I enjoyed. Good sixed rooms - mine had a sit down space with sofa and occasional table. On Suite was more than adequate and comfy beds. No Guest Kitchen which was the only drawback but its still the best backpacker option in Newcastle when compared to alternatives. Location is tucked away just near the Laing Gallery - 5 min walk to Monument Metro and Eldon Square. I didn't opt for breakfast.
Lack of a Guest Kitchen. Locker arrangement can be a bit fiddly and noisy whilst putting padlock on and off.

Room was big enough, was put in a room clearly meant for at least 4 people when booked a private double. Had a large double bed and a bunk bed to myself. Toilet and shower facilities were unusual but worked. TV did not work but wasn't a big deal for me.
The initial moment when I walked into my room I wasn't sure if it was a mistake. I didn't think a private double would have so many beds and thought they may have made a mistake. Luckily this was not a mistake but the initial anxiety of potentially sharing my room wasnt fun. The TV not working during my visit wasn't great but isn't a necessity for me.

Brilliant Hostel away from noise but close enough to walk to busy bits. Massive pub area with big tvs. Bed in double room was queen size and very comfortable. Black out curtains too. 2 for 1 deal on drinks at 4 to 8pm daily, cocktails great and singer on Friday and Saturdays from 6 to 9pm. Staff lovejy , friendly and happy! Food lovely in bar, we had pizza, bao buns and chips. All in all brilll place! 👏👌
Drain in bathroom smell but to be fair that's likely city problem and not hotel though bleach maybe would have helped. Metal shelf on side of bed at head height so bit dangerous if your sitting up on bed but again not a biggie though banged head twice. One window wouldn't open but there were another 2 windows so again not major.

This is a 2-STAR establishment, sitting just above a bar-restaurant. I had a chicken burger with French fries the last night and it was good. So handy to have the bar just a couple of stair flights down. The room was basic but spacious; both the bedroom and bathroom were clean, and plenty of shower gels and shampoo were available. Being on the third floor was good, quiet, and away from the bar. The location is excellent, 10 minutes walk from the railway station, 4 minutes from Monument Metro stop and Grey St. Another good thing is the extended check in time in the evening.
Manning of the bar.

I recognised this as being a former Euro Hostel, the decor was similar to what I was familiar with in Glasgow, so I instantly felt at ease. I liked having a private en-suite bathroom, I asked about hiring a towel when I was checking in but was told that there should be one in my room. When I got to my room, there was a double bed and a bunk bed made up - each with towels on them, towels galore!! I loved how close the bed was to the window so I could lie and relax in the sunshine in the morning. I paid £3 for a late check-out and it was worth every penny to not have to rush out the door and then spend ages hanging around the town before my train. The room is fairly basic but that's reflected in the price. The place was clean, the staff I met were lovely and my bed was super comfy. I'd happily here again whenever I'm back in Newcastle,
I can't think of anything that I didn't like.

Great hostel/hotel in the downtown of Newcastle, not far from the Earl Grey monument and the Central rail station. Private rooms are available as well as traditional dorm rooms. Lots of European university students with some "mature students" as well. Great pub / dinning hall at the entrance to the building which is a brick walled, steel framed structure. If you don't mind stairs they are much quicker than the elevator. Private washroom in my large room with wall mounted TV screen, Nicely decorated room as well. Kabannas has two other locations in London and Liverpool. JAF
Unlike traditional hostels, there was no shared kitchen, but continental breakfast was available (at a cost) in the dinning hall.

I loved the clean room. The spaces bathroom. The clean towels, soap etc included. The tv that worked and we could watch s movie. The downstairs area to chill out and watch the champions league games. The staff were lovely too.
The only thing I would say needs improving, is the coffee and tea station. The hot water wasn't refilled every time I went there to get coffee when we got back from a day out. The coffee urn was also empty. No clean spoons and no milk. Eventually after reporting it three attempts later, there was something for a cup of tea before bed.

we booked double room. Bed was so relax. Location was right in the center. employees were helpful and kind. No noise, temp was good, free hot drinks like cappucino, latte, tea etc all day i guess.
Our room was breakfast inc. they put croissant in fridge and it was not fresh at all and cold. it was to go breakfast. not so necessery if you gonna stay there. floor in shower was getting wet while showering then you have to walk in wet and going to room with that feet. get a slippers if you ll stay there. Primark was close, we bought 1£ of slippers.

Everything!!!! Honestly, really exceeded my expectations, the room was so spacious and comfortable, there was plenty of storage space and it just felt like the room was lending me a hand when I was trying to organise myself. The staff were great help and everyone just seemed happy to be there. Especially loved the coffee machine - it was really nice when we wanted a hot drink before bed/first thing.
A few rowdy guests but we were on a hostel floor and it was halloween so it was expected. Someone did accidentally get the wrong room and was trying to get into our flat before realising she was in the one next door. (not the properties fault though!)

The Kabannas came up on Booking.com and was the cheapest hotel available in Newcastle. The pictures looked decent so took a chance and I’m glad we did. The hotel is spotless, downstairs bar area is cool af, and the rooms are decent and genuinely I had an unbelievable night sleep (helped with mulled wine). Location is very good, no where near the noisy nightlife, but a short walking distance to the bars, 02, train station, Xmas markets EVERYTHING. Without blowing too much smoke up their ars*s and sounding like a bot review, there is a few things which could make the experience better hence a score of 8/10. Reception - no one present at all, there were a bunch of guests trying to check in and being confused how too. Check in/out - had text messages and emails from the hotel stating one time, where in reality these were wrong meaning we arrived later, and checked out earlier because we didn’t want to get charged (no sleep in for selbs). Bathroom - top tip, bring goggles and flip-flops. It’s an all in one bathroom meaning no room for activities 😮💨 and the dreaded shower curtain but tbf it was funny because our lass decked it whilst leaving due to the Wet ‘n’ Wild slip zone floor. 100% would and will be staying here again for Sam Fender next June. Oi oi
Typed it above my bad.
