We stayed in the Lord Armstrong suite. The room was spotless, bed comfy and the hotel was in a great location. We normally stay at one of the larger chain hotels which cost more, following our stay here I don't think we would return and would definitely stay at Grey street again. The staff were also lovely and accommodating.
The only things for us which were potential down sides (wouldn't go as far as saying dislike) was the lighting in the main room was quite dark which made it hard for getting ready. The water pressure in the overhead shower wasn't great and the the smaller shower head just got water all over the bathroom. Definitely not enough to deter us from staying again.

The property is very well situated amongst restaurants, bars and shops. We stayed in the Lord Armstrong Suite and it was fantastic. The room was very spacious and had all of the amenities that we could have wanted. The bath was great and meant that we didn’t even use the large shower. The bath was surrounded by led mood lighting and was an extremely nice touch as it gave the bathroom a relaxing ambiance. The room was cleaned every day and everything was replenished including the biscuits that went alongside the tea and coffee. We booked for the romantic package that includes a bottle of fizz and flowers on the bed. This was extremely nicely presented with the bottle in an ice bucket waiting upon our arrival as well as a small box of chocolates which was a very nice touch. We also ordered the breakfast basket and the service here was very simple and confident. We simply filled out our breakfast order the night before and hung it on the door the evening before and a lady came the following morning and delivered it at the time that we had specified (10am). The food was lovely. We didn’t go in the hotel bar but when we walked past it it seemed like a really nice atmosphere with music playing. The room was very well sound proofed and we didn’t hear anything including neighbours or outside. The room also included a safe and a mini fridge which were handy to have. We left our bags with the hotel a couple of times as we checked in early and checked out a few hours before our train. The staff were very helpful and accommodating with this and it made the trip much more relaxing.
One of the bed side lights didn’t work independent to the main light and one of the main lights didn’t work so I’m not sure if these were connected in some way. Also, we stayed on the fourth floor and some of the decor on the walls was slightly dated. There were white and green tiles which I think had been left over from the previous decor.

Proper blackout curtains, v comfy bed, plenty of space, staff v helpful, rooms were quiet despite the bar being open late and the main road. Was able to dine at the attached restaurant on zero notice on Friday night, room serviced daily. Fulfilled my rqst of having a shower cubicle in bathroom over a shower over the bath. I need that due to my mobility issues however as I'm also a obese person, I couldn't actually fit inside the cubicle to shower. So did not want to cause a fuss after making such a specific rqst. So washed using the sink n scrubbing down.

The location, friendliness of all the staff, the decor of the room & bathroom all amazing. I went for the bigger bed because they don't do singles, it was huge & we slept like a dream so happy. Loads of extras shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, non slip shower mat, towels, hand cream, iron & ironing board, hairdryer, kettle, tea, coffee, sugar, milk, tin of local water. We had street view which was nice but also noisy at night. Old building so lots of steps but they have a lift but still steps once you get to your floor. The chambermaid were so friendly & helpful.
Room 24, I found the kettle being kept in the wardrobe a bit weird it needs to be on the desk. The shower door leaks plus you could do with a grad rail for safety. All the doors in the room bang shut so you can hear them close in the rooms next door.

was offered a walk in shower over a shower over bath upon rqst at booking(needed for my mobility issues), room was well appointed. warm, dry, very comfortable bed despite being 2 singles pushed together. the associatied bar/restaurant made fabulous breakfasts and meals. and the room service menu was excellent and generous portions. located close to train station by foot.
room was not serviced after first night, received a note about this. would have preferred charging points bedside but has different sockets. on the Sunday evening, could not order food after 8pm.

Comfortable beds in well appointed room. Plenty of plug sockets. Good location for our needs. Lovely staff who were friendly and helpful at all times.
Lighting. Difficulty in using mirrors in a good light. Quite noisy at night,. even with the windows closed. The hotel has a policy of minimum 2 night stay if staying on a Saturday. This in itself is not a problem, but the fact that when booking, I was not made aware of this by booking.com. It says I could change my booking at any time, but did not point out the restriction. I have tried to email this separately but unsure whether it has been received.

Definitely had the vibe of a boutique hotel. It was a converted 19th century building so the ceilings were about 10ft high which made a smaller room seem really spacious. There was a full wardrobe and the bathroom was bigger than normal. The staff were all really friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The breakfast was good including gf toast. As the name implies it was on Grey Street which is an elegant street with just a 5 minute walk to the Greys memorial and the centre of everything. It qas also just 5 minutes the other way to the riverfront walk.
The water could have been hotter. I like a hot bath.

Fantastic location from which to explore Newcastle. 8 minutes to Central station on foot. The Quayside isn't too far from the hotel. Same goes for Newcastle Castle and Newcastle Cathedral. The room is spacious. Friendly staff including the housekeepers. Breakfast is offered for an additional fee if that is something you are interested in. Honestly, this hotel ticks all the right boxes. Wish I stayed longer. High praise all around!
Can get noisy outside especially if Newcastle have a football game. There are a lot of pubs nearby, so if you're a light sleeper, check the Newcastle football schedule before booking your hotel stay. The nights that didn't have a game were nice and peaceful outside, and I had a good night's rest. Getting to my room was a little weird. Take the lift, go right down a flight of stairs, and then go left up a flight of stairs. Not a big deal, but if you have a lot of luggage, climbing these stairs can be a little challenging.

This hotel is centrally located with close proximity/easy walking to the shopping square and city center. Lots of good restaurants in walking distance. Blocks from river and historical river walk. Refurbished older building, well-appointed rooms and central reception area. Breakfast offering was extensive with ability to order from menu as well as buffet items. Room had comfortable beds, spacious bathroom with amenities, coffee/tea/water in-room. Our room faced the street but we were sufficiently high up that street noise did not bother us. Room (temperature was comfortable and windows opened to allow fresh air - a real treat.
One drawback is the lift - small, old and does not stop at every floor so you have to contend with stairs (both up and down) to get to your room. This is tedious when you are an international traveler with more than a small carry-on. Because of downtown location, parking (even for drop-off) is scarce and the construction equipment during the day eliminates what little drop-off space is close to the hotel. This latter issue is probably temporary.

The location was brilliant as it is a short walk from the train station, metro, the quayside and various attractions, including the castle, shops, pubs and restaurants. The staff were friendly, especially the woman that serviced our room. The food in the restaurant was lovely.
Our room was on floor 3.5, which felt a bit disjointed from the rest of the hotel. Additionally, we ate in the restaurant one evening and it wasn’t the relaxing meal we were hoping for / would have been better if we were getting ready for a night out as it felt like party central.
