When the room was not ready at 3 p.m., we had to wait till 1645. At least we had my cousin room to leave cases in. The whole 3 nights the room was not hoverd and bed was not made the clean towels in room on arrival we only got one for two of us as we're told by cleaners they were still wet .breakfast was outstanding and we had dinner at night and that was outstanding too.

Professional friendly staff, always take time to assist. Breakfast was amazing, buffet style always topped up with everything. Comfy bed (room 201) front facing, 2 min walk to main Newcastle bars/ restaurants, 15 min walk to St James football stadium, train station next door. Leisure centre located at rear of hotel, a bit disappointed that we had to pay £5 each to use. Even got a seperate TV room with 3 giant TVs showing Sky Sports continually. 2 bars in the hotel, decent prices, £12 for 2 cocktails, £4.50 for spirits. Rooms cleaned, made up every day by 2 great girls, linsey & Laura ( special mention to them). There are somel negative reviews given to this hotel, we thought it was amazing.
£5 charge for the leisure complex. Trivial I suppose

I came for a week so see my cousin as we are getting old now. The hotel is grand, not like the standard hotels .on arrival was given room 313 on the 3rd floor . When l entered the room, the towels were on the bed but were still wet and looked in wardrobe to find that the safe had been taken out .but on Web, it says safe in room .l went to the front desk, and the very nice reception lady upgraded me to room 301 with a safe .and gave me three breakfast vouchers, marvellous 😋.. I had dinner and breakfast in restaurant it marvellous services, and it was outstanding. eye to detail, the breakfast management was great, so helpful as l am classed as disabled helped me carry my plate in the morning. The swimming and gym outstanding 👌 But the cleaner of the room was poor 😕 from day one l was in my room when she came to make up room she asked if l would like room made up which l said yes she just pulled back sheets that is not making the bed and l have been here 7 nights not once as the sheets been changed nor leave l had fresh milk sashes or biscuits left had to go down to reception each day .nor could l clean my toilet as there was not a brush as l have had lots of operation a use the toilet 3 times a day there are skid marks down the back and not once as it been cleaned l even left seat open it did not help .there is black mould growing in the shower, which can be treated by the room maid. It is her job . I did say to the young man on the front desk about the room maid He replied that we would do an investigation 🔎 Overall, the only one thing which lets the hotel down is the maid young English girl..

I stayed here because right next door to the station so for ease. Also price. If it was any more I would stay in a nicer hotel with more modern facilities for example a stand alone power shower and better TV and furniture. Good that you were given EARPLUGS in the bedside drawers which I used as the traffic outside can be noisy.
Luckily we had plans so didn’t stay in and need the TV but when we turned it on for the news and on the evening in bed it didn’t work. BBC one was not watchable at all the AERIAL WAS BROKEN it did not fit the socket. ROOM 119a sellotape on back of TV and socket where someone has tried to fix it. This needs repairing !! Also the light above the mirror on the dressing table DIDNT WORK and I Believe the light in the BATHROOM Didn’t work. It would be nice to have spoons as the wooden sticks break and soggy in your tea and can’t use them again.

Stayed in 2 twin rooms! Arrived early and were given one room which was a bonus! The room was like a box room and very claustrophobic! Went back to reception and this was quickly changed! Anna was very helpful and said she wanted us to enjoy our stay! Large bathroom. Breakfast was very nice! First morning food was covered and very hot, covering was removed on the srcond morning and food was colder.
Rooms were comfortable and clean, but decor was badly in need of repair in both rooms. This is an old Hotel but rooms are very drab with plaster hanging of the ceiling, and nails sticking out of wall. Not what you expect when entering the Hotel as it looks lovely.

Thought had been given to the provision in the room. There was obviously a kettle with tea/coffee and a TV (never switched it on so no comment on that). But also - a fridge, a hairdryer not-tied-to-the-wall, a desk with a decent big mirror with a light over it, an iron and an ironing board, and a safe. There were little sachets of actual milk in the fridge, and nice biscuits. Oh yes - and a fan in the wardrobe, although that was not necessary in March. So all very well considered - possibly by a woman! - to provide the extra touches that make for a comfortable and easy stay. Others have mentioned noise. I was at the front of the hotel more or less over the entrance; with the window and the double glazing shut I was very very distantly aware of some voices in the street - and that was on a day when there had been 150,000 people in the streets of Newcastle for a football victory parade. So that wasn’t a problem. If it had been – a drawer contained a note from the hotel and a little packet of earplugs. The huge station car park is but yards from the back door of the hotel. I was there to attend a wedding whose reception was in the hotel itself - beautiful room and the food was very good.
The only thing was the decor! For some unfathomable reason, everything in the room was Brown. Not faded, not really tired - just shades of brown. It was like being back in the 70s. Strange. But I loved the grand old staircase and the majestic chandeliers.

Royal Station Hotel - Part of the Cairn Collection (Newcastle) We had a great stay. The hotel location was perfect with easy access to the main sights, eateries, indoor market and the city based shopping malls that were all within reasonable walking distance. The hotel dates to circa 1850 and had a feel of times past and I really enjoyed the ambiance it created. The Royal Station Hotel, steeped in historic charm, captivates many travelers with its grandeur - our first impression was the staircase reminded us of the staircase from Titanic…and has that wow feel! The team at the hotel were all friendly and accommodating. I’d like to give particular thanks for the diligent service to the following team members: Amber, Jess, Anna, Liz, Michael Scatchard, Steve Frizzel, Liam and Jonathan. Thank you all for a fab family city break to Newcastle.

Birthday Break- Fabulous Time. I love this Hotel and it's beautiful decor, the lounge and dining area is perfect to relax in with coffee or a wine. I requested a quiet room if possible and I was given my request, baring in mind this is a city centre hotel and right by the train station so expect some noise, you ain't in the countryside! I still managed to sleep well. I love the charm of this Hotel and it's original features, I booked a last minute two night break for my birthday and I had the best time. I made use of the Spa facilities, jacuzzi, pool, sauna, steam room and plunge pool. Great after a days shopping to chill. I also enjoyed my food in the restaurant each evening. The Hotel is central to EVERYTHING. So the location is perfect. I felt totally at ease as a solo traveller and met lots of lovely people within the Hotel. I arrived on my Birthday and I want to give a very special mention to Keira who works in the restaurant, she is a lovely girl who looked after me so well, kind, caring and friendly, she went above and beyond for me, she's a real asset to the hotel. Thanks for making my birthday so special and the lovely surprise on my dessert! Michael made my lattes each morning and brought them to my table, many thanks Michael! Not forgetting Christine who was fantastic with me, helping carry my bags out of the door for my train. I will certainly be back soon and I hope to see the lovely staff again. It'll be my place of choice even for coffee or a wine if I'm passing by. Also absolutely stunning Christmas Decorations, visiting this time of year is a must! Thank you All!
Room was very hot at times

The breakfast staff were amazing and Steve Fizzel and Michael Scrachard both went above and beyond showing us where to catch the bus to Town and Moor and what number buses we could get there on, ensuring that both our stay and activities went as smoothly as possible! Nothing was too much trouble and they made us feel so welcome, they were very welcoming, friendly, efficient and are a credit to the hotel!
Beautiful old building, what is there to not like about it? Bed very comfortable and lovely room. Would have liked a tea spoon on tea tray to wash and reuse rather than the one wooden stirrer. Didn’t like the dinner menu, I like straightforward basic meals, unfortunately we had to eat out.

Very friendly and courteous staff. I requested a room with as few stairs as possible for me to negotiate with a disability. The room was perfectly placed for me, near the lifts, and only 3 steps to get up and down. So it couldn't have been better for me. The rooms are clean comfortable, and well equipped.
The fact that they decided to charge customers for the pool facilities from 1st July. They were included in the price when I originally booked. I normally swim every day at home, and I did bring my swimming gear with me. I didn't use the facilities after giving it some thought. The charge is not a huge amount, but on principle, I decided against it.
