Beautiful old property classic or eclectic fit out super clean basic room with ensuite warm and comfortable .Turned up late on a Sunday arvo with only one hours notice cold and wet from unscheduled dip in the liffy river..Met by a personable young man had me room sorted top of pub .Spent an enjoyable evening seated at a beautiful old horse shaped bar with a group of strangers from all over Every body talked no phones.New friends after the first drink. The bar is watched over by a lovely young lady with a selection of fine Tasmanian beer wines and spirits. The empire hotel is a classic piece of Tasmania with all the hospitality that Tassie can put on. It may not suit everyone but my compliments to the owners and staff felt like you were at your local . Personally loved it will be recommending it to friends and colleagues .Stock up on some Tassie Rum I will be back
Had to come home

A great hotel for touring cyclists! Welcoming reception, indoor parking for bikes, cozy warm room on a chilly winters day to change out of cycling gear and head downstairs to an excellent cafe, bar/lounge/restaurant with a real wood fire. On our 2nd tour day, an unfortunate bicycle tyre blowout saw us return to the Empire mid afternoon, hoping to source a replacement tyre. This is where the hosts, Mark & Amanda really shone! Mark contacted 3 local possibles and finally drove (30km round trip) to a cycling friend at Montana to source the tyre. Remarkable service from perfect hosts!
Nothing, service way beyond normal expectation.

The Empire was much lovelier than we were expecting, staff were friendly and welcoming without being overbearing, room was clean and had everything we needed including an extra heater. Having a tea and coffee area with a fridge and breakfast room available was also really handy to relax in, breakfast itself was simple self serve but had good continental options. Location is perfect right in the centre of Deloraine. And to top it off our dinner at the Empire was delicious, great options (something a bit different as well as pub fare) and really good value. Would absolutely stay again!

The Empire was a delight. The building itself was enjoyable to wonder around, my room was perfect and the bathroom was large with complementary home-made soap. I stayed for dinner and glad I didn't go out - this was some of the finest food I've tasted in a long time. Visiting for dinner is worth it, even if you are not staying the night. The hospitality was amazing. The very kind staff made me feel like a guest of honour. Loved this place and will stay again. Many times.
N/A - this place was fabulous.

I like the location which is easy to find. There are many shops around. The Meander River is a few minutes away. Some of the attractions are nearby. Since the hotel doesn't have laundry service, the laundrette is opposite of the Information Centre. There's Woolsworth! The breakfast is decent but good with wholemeal and raisin bread for breakfast with a variety of spreads, oatmeal, cereals, juices, variety of tea, and coffee for the chilly day. The dining room is so cosy that it feels like home.
I wished I was given a room on the lower floor as I had a 29-inch luggage, but I'm still grateful that Amanda helped to carry up my luggage.

Location was fantastic, right across from the river. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful in every detail including accommodating our bicycles, assisting with dietary requirements and arranging their free platypus tour (the host of the tour was also a knowledgeable and friendly character). The restaurant meal was warm and cosy (maybe a little $$ compared to the accommodation price). The public provided a welcoming atmosphere for a cold (it mulled) brew. We loved our short stay in this historic building and beautiful town. We would gladly recommend the Empire, if it suits your circumstances.

Location in main street and within walking distance to all needs was great. Older pub in town, but room was pleasantly comfortable. Room was clean, bed comfortable, room was located on top attic floor and had a good view over river in Deloraine. Modern bathroom, with large shower space and good water pressure. Complimentary continental breakfast, was a benefit.
Had a couple of functions on night when we stayed and noise travelled to room and went on for a while, making it hard to get to sleep. Was advised there would be home made yoghurt for breakfast, but none in fridge when we went to eat.

We absolutely enjoyed our stay at the Empire Hotel. The staff were outstandingly helpful and flexible. The hotel is in the perfect location to explore Deloraine on foot. The food in the downstairs cafe was excellent. Wish we could have had more than one meal. The atmosphere was very cozy and inviting. Loved being able to warm up in front of the fireplace. Our room was very cozy and spacious. Breakfast was basic but many different choices including french press coffee. We absolutely enjoyed the free platypus tour that starts at the hotel most afternoons. We were lucky enough to spot one. Get in touch beforehand and ask for the departure time. We will definitely stay again if we will come back to this corner of the world.

Helpful staff, lovely room (heritage, but practical), central location, free “platypus/riverside walk, breakfast included
Not really the property’s fault in any way, but - despite eventually effective intervention by staff, our short stay was spoiled by the inconsiderate behaviour of a large (about 10-12) group of visitors from Shanghai eg we were blocked from the breakfast session by their “domination” of the facilities until moved on by intrepid staff member. This delayed our departure & left a bad taste.

I was made very welcome. The Empire has been beautifully renovated, in keeping with the period of the building. The room was warm and comfortable. The furniture and fittings are well chosen throughout, and some of the wooden carvings are exceptional. I ate dinner and breakfast in the restaurant, where the food was excellent and well thought out and beautifully presented. I finished up my evening with wine and a book by the open fire in the bar.
