It had a good choice of cereals, breads and spreads, with tea and instant coffee, for breakfast. Plenty of parking. I met some nice people, with good conversation. It was a hotel, with no pretence of being a motel. Very convenient for the traveller. The staff were efficient and friendly. I liked it.

A surprisingly busy road for a small town: traffic all night. Not the fault of the hotel. Difficult to avoid the squeaky floorboards in night excursions to the toilet, but that's an observation, not a criticism.

Convenient location and clean tidy room on arrival. I was offered a late check out that was very appreciative and a place to secure my bicycle. The include breakfast is very basic with cornflakes etc, white bread and your usual expected condiments. Staff were welcoming. Thank you

Railton is an easy drive from Devonport if you are arriving on Spirit of Tasmania. Devonport hotels were fully booked, so it was a necessary and pleasant surprise to find this little hotel. I missed the scenery as I drove in after dark, and offer a word of caution to drive a little slower at night as the road is not lit for most of the drive, it can be quite bendy, and there are plenty of animals around. The owners are extremely friendly and helpful, all my interactions were over the phone, and I was able to access the hotel well after reception had closed. My room was very spacious and furnished generously with a mixture of old and new furniture (not so stylish but very useful). The bed was comfortable with an assortment of pillows to suit most people. The very clean bathroom is a shared arrangement (separate male/female) down the hall. There is a small fridge and a sink in the room which is very convenient. Breakfast is basic and DIY in the kitchen - plenty of cereal, bread, condiments, yoghurt, fruit, tea, coffee, etc.

The only thing that was a bit annoying was the bathroom light/fan which one of the guests did not turn off after using the bathroom sometime during the night. I'm wondering if a time switch might be an appropriate addition?

We arrived late after the kitchen closed but the owner whipped us toasted sandwiches which was a lovely thing to do, they could not have made us feel more welcome and we will be back, this stay was a highlight of our trip, the continental breakfast was adequate and did the job.

To start with My story in Railton Hotel, it’s definitely Phenomenal😍 The best experience and the best comfy beds with good clean toilets and bathroom. Wow it’s amazing. Staffs were really friendly and breakfast was breathtaking and yummy💖💖 Thank you so much 💜💜

The friendliness of management & their assistance after a full day's travelling was really appreciated. Very clean, comfortable accommodation in a friendly & delightful country town. Wandering through the town to see the topiary is a must when you stay here.

Dinner was delicious and huge! The room was very spacious, as was the shared bathroom. The owners were very friendly and welcoming. The breakfast had a good range of help-yourself options,

For such a small town the main road was surprisingly noisy, but the owner did warn me, and it didn't really affect me.

We were made to feel welcome from the moment we arrived. The hospitality from our hosts could not be faulted, and the godd, old fashioned pub food is amazing!!

The accommodation has everything you need, but my partner found the bed a little uncomfortable.

The staff were friendly, helpful and gave lovely personalised service.

It was further away from Devonport than noted on booking.com but that wasn't really a problem.

Lovely staff, great location for cradle mountain. we weren’t aware but were very sorry we missed the fact that you can also have dinner at the hotel. looking at the people and their love for food and facilities. I’m sure would have been good and we would have loved to try!
