A lovely, peaceful spot with a stunning backdrop of Mt Roland. Loved the chooks, goose, cows, horse etc. The pool looked great though we didn’t end up using it. We had a pleasant stay and it was a good base for Cradle Mountain. Friendly staff and we appreciated a text message during our stay about the smoky skies - letting us know what was happening but there was nothing to worry about as the fires were far away.

We stayed in the spa suite and unfortunately a lot of the surfaces were very dusty and the floors looked like they hadn’t been vacuumed properly. One thing to note - you need to boil the tap water before you drink it. If this was mentioned in the property listing on booking.com we would’ve brought some water with us.

Amazing spot, the sunsets on the mountains were incredible. The whole place is a lot of fun. Kids loved the animals and the host was happy to hand out carrots and things to feed the horse and the chooks. The pool was great and the cabin was great. We spotted Platypus! The bathroom is good, the kitchen was easy to use, we cooked for a family of 4. Lots of outdoor space for the kids to investigate. Really fun place.

It’s not super modern - If you are looking for the Instagram vibe this is not for you. Its not so much about the look as it is about you get what you see in the pictures provided. But we were looking for a fun quiet getaway the service and the things to do at the property more than make up for it not being an Instagram hot spot. Which we were more than happy to avoid. If you looking for somewhere to get away and chill this is amazing.

It felt like a private fantasy escape to your own secret alpine valley in Tassie. Forget all the crowds and control at Cradle mountain, we stayed here and had a whole valley and mountain to ourselves, we did not want to leave and I so hope we get to come back. The Changing light on Mt Roland was mindblowing, the sunsets just incredible, so was the wildlife, we loved watching wallabies in the twilight. What a tranquil wonderful beautiful world class retreat I hope I get to go back

There is no word describing how nice was our stay. The cabin is big, really comfy with everything needed for a cosy stay. The bubble bath with the view over the mountain is unbeatable. Same with the big window from the room over Mt Roland ! The property is huge and really peaceful to walk around. On top of that John's, the owner, was so nice, full of knowledge about the flore and fauna. He gave us the perfect honeymoon gift by recommending us the Tasmanian Arboretum on our very last day before leaving so we could see some platypuses. Which we did ! It was amazing, thanks again for everything

John is the owner of this family-run retreat and was really welcoming and accomodative of our (rather extensive) requests. The cottage size was easily sufficient for four adults, kitchen well equipped, and the location and surroundings were wonderful - extremely quiet and peaceful. I was originally looking to stay within Cradle Mountain but it turned out that it was much more peaceful and close to nature here than in the observeably busy resorts on site there - and at only a 40min or so drive from the national park, it's a great place to make your base. The views of being right under the mountains were also superb, especially around sunset. Watching the chickens being fed in the morning and the goose and duck on the lake in the sunset was really wonderful.

I must admit I was expecting it would be easier to see native animals staying here given the photos - we did see some small wallabies at night but couldn't take photos as they only came out well after dark. Also, there seemed to be only one portable heater (with the main heater in the living room) so it was a little cold in the bedrooms at night - fine once we took out the extra blankets provided.

The cottage was very clean, the surroundings were very well maintained. John was very sweet and helped with loads of information. We had a great time with all the animals at the farm and enjoyed our short stay.

There was nothing we din’t like about the property. Wish the wifi was more stable but it was totally ok given the location. Wish there was some food available at the retreat , but the nearby town had decent options & an IGA.

Cottage was perfect, had everything that you need, full kitchen, comfortable bed, room to sit and relax after your walks around the property including the mine.. A great experience! Property is close to Cradle mountain and small town, lots of wildlife, the view of the mountain, and the heated pool was just spectacular. Had the best time. Staff were super friendly and helpful

There's hardly a better place if you want peace and quiet and love nature. It was lovely to sit on the bench and watch the animals at the pond and go for a walk. I stayed for 3 nights. The location between the nice town of Sheffield and the Cradle Mountains is ideal with car.

The water, but that's the case in many rural places there. Probably no better next door.

A very special place with beautiful views, great facilities, and a tranquil atmosphere. The host was incredibly accommodating; and kindly offered a wealth of fascinating knowledge and history about the local wildlife and surrounds. Thank you for providing such a peaceful and rejuvenating experience. I will certainly return again in the future.

Being on a rural property with a large mountain close by. Only 11 km out of the closest town with good facilities. The owner was a friendly person with a lot of knowledge to share. Very hospitable.

Maybe some other channels available on the TV rather than using all the ABC links from around the country as the programming is the same. Some bathroom soap.
