The bedding was comfortable. Good air conditioning and amenities for room. There was an accident where we were put in a room where someone else had stayed and it had not been cleaned yet but the staff fixed that immediately and were apologetic. Very good value for money and right in the centre of Devonport

It's not the Hotels fault but devonport has currently two taxis and one uber driver that immediately service the area. Some ubers come through other towns but its dependant on jobs. Though I didn't mind the tannen water that came out of the bath it was a bit of a shock at first. Staircase might be a little bit difficult for elderly. Otherwise a great stay! Will stay again.

Convenient location - easy walk to downtown shops and can watch the Spirit of Tasmania berthing and loading from the upstairs common area lounge! It's above a gaming /pub/dining venue - we stayed midweek and didn't experience any noise issues. Car parking behind the venue (and they own the next door Alexander Hotel also) with external stairs or internal stairs to access the rooms. There is a communal common room/lounge/kitchen area for longer-term stayers. Free wifi throughout. Our room had everything we needed - good climate control, space for luggage, storage cupboard, mini fridge and coffee/tea items. The bathroom had a shower/bath combo (which was great for soaking after several days of hiking!). The handwashing basin is in the main room rather than the bathroom which was a bit odd but fine. Nothing fancy but we had everything we needed, everything worked and great central venue!

Although we weren't sure about the hotel accommodation above the gaming/pub area, it was actually fine!

We really liked this hotel accommodation, we had a nice room that overlooked the cherry blossoms on the street below, small, but adequate ensuite, bed was comfortable, heating was good, had a little bar fridge, tea and coffee, jug, cups, it was a very comfortable stopover before catching the ferry the next day. Excellent value for your dollar. The only thing I'd like to point out is, no rooms on ground floor, there isn't an elevator, and the shower is over the bathtub, so could be a problem for some. We ate in the adjoining restaurant and found the service was good and we enjoyed our meals. We'd definitely stay again and highly recommend.

Nothing really, but as I said, no elevator and shower over the bathtub could be a problem for some.

The room was clean, had all the essentials. There is a common kitchen & space where you can cook, eat and store food. The hallway did smell like cigarettes unfortunately but the room did not. There is also heating! Staff were very friendly and accomodating, would highly recommend staying here. Close to everything, bar and restaurant downstairs!

The smell of the hallway was unpleasant, other than that definitely happy with my stay.

Very well located, and although small, facilities were good and best cost-benefit in comparison to any hostel I've stayed in Tasmania: has a car park, laundry is just $2, clean towels offered, comfy communal area. The staff was very friendly to me, and the cleaners in the common area seem to be doing a great job!

The kitchen is far from spacious and my bed linen was smelling, and the carpet in the room didn't seem very clean... I'm used to carpets, but when they are not clean I start to sneeze and have an itchy throat. I understand the side I was allocated works more as a hotel than a hostel, which means the energy was quiet and sober, but didn't feel the place that will help you to plan your next steps in Tasmania. As I stayed there in my last night in the state, it didn't matter to me.

Location, price, and convenience. The room was as advertised. Very large with a shared common room to cook or reheat meals, otherwise great restaurant downstairs or walking distance to many other options. We were a little worried as we had stayed at other hotels' rooms above pokies and music venues and experienced late night noise. But we never had an issue at the Formby. Car parking is at times first in best dressed as it is shared with the restaurant and pokie venues, but we never had an issue as people came and went pretty frequently. Staff we good and place kept clean.

Very convenient location, great views of the ferry, very clean, friendly staff

I got a letter after booking that said that on a Friday night there will be live music so it could get noisy. I think they should state that upfront in the description somewhere (I had made a non refundable booking). We didn't end up hearing anything though so it didn't matter but it might be different in other rooms. Also, the car park is very small so there is not enough parking for everyone.

Cassie was lovely on our arrival , gave us a run down of where our room was , facilities, parking for our hire car. We ate at the restaurant all 3 nights , the staff picked up we we staying and actually got us a table( little wait 1 night but that's to be expected) , it was very busy a couple of nights to, service great and food delicious :) It really was a good location for the shops in the area, walking and getting to other destinations outside Devonport Loved seeing and hearing The Spirit of Tasmania turn to leave as well as the huge freight ships.

Great location, close to CBD and Spirit of Tasmania terminal. Great that parking is offered on-site, although limited spaces available (though parking is available across the road. Free 6pm-8am, then metered). Comfortable room, great size. Good value for money. Would stay again.

Bar staff cover the reception desk, but no signs to say this at the reception window. Spent some time waiting at the reception window before speaking to bar staff. Staff were very helpful though after this, great service. No lift available, so this is something for those with accessibility needs/ heavy luggage/ children/prams to keep in mind.

i paid for a queen ensuite room, exactly what i needed after 10hrs of driving from melbourne. the bed was so comfy, the tv was in perfect range to relax, the shower was nice and big to rinse off and get clean!. the lady at the front counter was super sweet & gave me a giggle when i got there a little late. i’d definitely stay again if i passed back through!!

i couldn’t fault anything about my stay, but the view of the spirit dock would of been nice but maybe next time i’ll book the right room haha.
