We absolutely loved our stay at this beautifully repurposed Church – such a unique and memorable experience! We were in town for the Australian Rowing National Championships and couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay. The rooms were comfortable, the bed was cosy, and the common areas were spacious and welcoming. The host, Robert, was exceptional – super friendly and full of fascinating local history. He made sure we were well looked after and served us a delicious breakfast featuring local jams and homemade bread. We had a great stay, felt very looked after, and would definitely love to come back. Highly recommended – thank you so much! Tara & Tom Kelly

As the sun dipped below the horizon, we departed Mole Creek Pub, our spirits buoyed by the day’s adventures, and set our course for Barrington. Our destination: the Barrington Church ⛪️ B&B, a unique accommodation nestled in a former church dating back to 1885. Adjacent to the church is the Jubilee Hall, constructed in 1906, now housing three cozy guest rooms. The ⛪️ itself has been thoughtfully repurposed into a communal lounge and dining area, retaining its historical charm while offering modern comforts. Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted by Robert, the affable owner who traded the hustle of mainland life for the tranquility of Tasmania seven years ago. He shared tales of his frequent visits to nearby Cradle Mountain, which eventually led him to settle in Barrington, captivated by its eccentric charm. One particularly delightful anecdote involved a local resident who regularly strolls through town with an alpaca 🦙 on a leash, treating it much like a canine companion. After settling in, curiosity drew us to the adjacent graveyard 🪦 😱. Wandering among the weathered headstones, we noticed a prevalence of the surnames Mason and Russell, hinting at the area’s rich familial histories. The quietude of the resting place added a contemplative ambiance to our evening, making us jest about the possibility of nocturnal visitations from the past.😳 The Barrington Church B&B offers a distinctive blend of historical allure and local character, providing a memorable conclusion to our day’s journey.

Robert, the owner is great! The kind of person who I would want to be friends with if I lived in the area. The building is old, and you have to share a bathroom… but it was lovely and all of this information is provided upfront. This location is also near the little penguin viewing platform, which was great. If you like the traditional BnB experience this could be the perfect fit.
Not sure that I would recommend this location to a family with young children or for someone with mobility issues (as the bedrooms are on the second floor).

This was our second time staying at Barrington Church and it did not disappoint. Barrington Church was an affordable and very charming place to stay as we explored Cradle Mountain, Mount Rowland and the nearby town of Sheffield. The church is full of history and surrounded by beautiful mountains and paddocks. Robert and Taco the parrot were both very accommodating during our stay. Robert also cooks a fantastic breakfast!

I liked the peace and quiet of the place and its proximity to Sheffield. The Host was pleasant and friendly.
Improvements need to be made to visitor comfort i.e there are no tea or coffee making facilities in the room which means if you want a cup first thing you can’t just be in your underwear going downstairs yo the kitchen in the hope you won’t run into the Owner. The bed in my room was quite squeaky. If you were a couple it would not be pleasant knowing everyone else knew what you were doing.

What an outstanding and pleasant host Robert is! Such a joy, relaxed, entertaining, full of tips, helpful. Good breakfast. VERY nice accommodation. Really old, but very cosy. Nice rural surroundings. We saw a platypuss nearby at 20 minutes drive in the botanical garden. Highly recommend, would definitely book again. Good place to stay when visiting cradle mountain. About an hour drive away.
I needed to go onto the next stop, I would have liked to stay longer.

The host was super friendly, welcoming and kind. He communicated very quickly and clearly. The bed was so comfortable and he made sure we would not be cold. The room was exactly as advertised. The bathroom was clean and the bath was amazing. Then in the morning we were served a delicious breakfast with local jams and homemade bread. We're very thankful for the hospitality of the host and for giving us a memorable stay!
Nothing bad to say, just book the room!

Very unusual accomodation in the old church. The wooden church was cheerfully colorful with a romantic garden. Although our private bathroom was outside of our room, all the staying was so lovely, so it didn't bother us at all. It was the most unique place we stayed during our one-month vacation in Australia. Very kind host, who showed us also those parts of the church that are in private use.

Set in beautiful rural location about 7 mins drive from Sheffield and not far from Cradle Mountain. Owner & host Robert is friendly, welcoming & full of information about the area and his unique B&B. Robert supplied a nice cooked breakfast and coffee plus we had a refrigerator, coffee machine in our room which was spacious & comfortable. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay including the gardens, surrounds & views in this lovely area.
Location, host, room & accommodation building and attached old church, the gardens & surrounds.

When you don't want to pay the high prices of accommodation in the Cradle Mountain vicinity, Barrington is an excellent alternative. Brilliant views of Mt Roland and not far into Sheffield, this property is very well located for your overnight stay. Rob, the owner, went out of his way to be helpful and the fire-place was warm and welcoming on our arrival.
