We absolutely loved the bed, it was surprisingly so comfortable especially compared to some of the accommodation we have stayed in throughout Tassie in the last couple of years. The pool was actually warm enough to swim in and be enjoyable for kids and sook mum who doesn’t like cold water. They were super easy to deal with and accommodated our late check in easily. Overall was great, probably our second favourite place in tassie now for that price range!

Nothing honestly not a bad thing to say

Friendly staff, easy check in. Full sized fridge and freezer is great. Beds are comfy, units are quiet at night. After a big day out, we enjoyed a swim in the pool before a night in watching a movie on Netflix - it was an easy way of maximising activities whilst on holiday.

Just that the bathroom facilities are old and tired - very low shower head which dripped constantly (threw a towel in the shower base so we couldnt hear it), shower curtain etc.

I travelled down the east coast from Qld to move to Tasmania. I stayed at many hotels along the way. Barclay Motor Inn was the best place I stayed and have stayed in quite some years. It was so clean, modern, I felt safe there for the week. The owners were lovely helping me with directions around town, options for helping me settle in. By far the best place I have stayed, highly recommend.

It was all good

Excellent, very friendly service from the motel managers who were extremely helpful in assisting us when our stay in Devonport was unexpectedly extended. Light-filled, clean, airy and large studio room with a well-equipped small kitchen. Excellent facilities - heated swimming pool, tennis court, laundry. Well-located in a quiet street only a few minutes walk from the coast and beaches, the city centre, and good restaurants. A high quality and economical place to stay in Devonport.

I've commented on the BarClay before, this place is amazing for what you spend. This time we stayed in the house with the shared rooms and it was such a great experience. The house was nice and clean, yes a little old but it suited us for the two days we were there.

Hard to fault the place. You pay a really good rate for good facilities, a pool and a tennis court which is largely available to you at your leisure. Short drive to devonport, it's a great place to stay getting off and coming to the Spirit of Tassie. Highly recommend

Staff friendly and helpful made to feel welcome and at home. Location close to centre, within walking distance of shops and restaurants. Room light and airy with table and seating area. The room had all you would need to self cater for a few days. Also had an indoor heated swimming pool that was an extra positive! We used this place as a base for three nights so that we could explore the northern coast from Stanley eastwards before returning to Launceston.

The room was spacious and clean and the grounds were well maintained. The staff always greeted us with a friendly hello. The location is perfect, very close to the water and the lighthouse. Short drive to town.

The bathroom was quite dated and could do with some modernisation to freshen it up a bit.

An older complex, very well maintained, all needs covered in this studio. Arrived late. Staff had heaters and light on. The bed was firmish yet cosy and comfortable.. There was a backup fan heater for very cold mornings when the reverse cycle unit struggled.

Nothing

We had a 4 night stay in a Studio room and could not really fault anything. The room was large and contained everything that we may have needed during our stay. The bed was very comfortable, plenty of power points especially access to power points at the bedside tables. The window loft in the main room provided natural light which added to the 'warm' ambience of the the room. And if you didn't want the early morning sunshine in your room there was a curtain that could block it out - we chose to leave the curtain open 24hrs and it never affected our sleep. The motel is in a quiet location, parking was plentiful outside of our room, and the location was perfect - an easy walk into the CBD area to the south, or to the north along the coastline to the historic sights of Bluff Point, the Lighthouse, Vietnam memorial and Maritime museum. We didn't get an opportunity to use the heated pool which was a shame as it looked very inviting and clean, nor did we use the half court tennis but we did see some young children enjoying a game. A couple of picnic tables and benches were situated on a nice grassed area available to everyone and within view of all the rooms - we utilised these a couple of times enjoying a beer/wine and it was very pleasant. Apart from enjoying the sights at Devonport, we used this motel as our hub for exploring other areas such as Stanley, and of course for our return trip back to the mainland on the Spirit of Tasmania. We would definitely stay here again on future trips. A big thankyou to the staff!

Everything was very good, but if I had to pick one thing to comment on, I would suggest that the sliding 'barn' door to the bathroom needed a slight adjustment so that it glided easier to lessen the noise when using during the night....but that's really a very minor thing and did not affect our very pleasant stay.

The bed was very comfortable and the room had all that I needed. Good to have a microwave and crockery etc as I had take away food delivered to my room. The bathroom had obviously been recently refurbished and was attractive, clean and functional. They have a heated swimming pool, which was a bonus, although I didn't use it as I hadn't packed any bathers. Very comfortable and convenient location in Devonport, if you have a car. However I noticed a bus stop out the front, so you could use public transport (or a taxi) to take the very short trip into the city centre.
