My room was lovely and had everything you could need. It was a large room with a comfortable bed and a fabulous bathroom. I liked that there was air-con, a fridge and even a non-slip mat for the shower, which is something more hotels should consider providing (or install non-slip shower trays). Evening meal in the restaurant was good.

Even though the room was excellent, it was on the top floor and this required negotiating multiple flights of steep and winding stairs which, when you have luggage to carry, was pretty challenging. The car park is also very steep, so again carrying luggage to the building was quite difficult. Room service required using an app, which not everyone will be comfortable with and you couldn't order drinks so that required negotiating the stairs to go and sit in the restaurant. I ordered eggs benedict for breakfast and unfortunately both eggs were very overdone and dry in the middle so couldn't be eaten.

The staff were very friendly and the food served at breakfast and dinner was lovely. The rooms were of a high standard and very clean. Our rooms had terraces which was nicely decorated with the flower walls. The bed itself was a great size and very comfortable.

There was nothing of major concern but some small things like having a hook on the back of the bathroom door and having a shelf in the shower to put items on would have been handy. Our rooms had a terrace area but there was no outdoor furniture in place and so had to bring out the table and chairs from the room. Maybe still too early in the season for outdoor furniture to be set out by the hotel?

The breakfast was traditional and local and the service and quality of the food was excellent. We had dinner the the night before and the menu celebrated local produce, and was beautifully cooked and presented and was delicious. The location offered panoramic views over Macduff harbour and the Devron Estuary. Looking over to the town of Banff and Whitehills beyond. Beautiful blue skies and sunsets over the sea.

Perhaps a continental option at breakfast. The car park is on a steep slope so access is an issue for some..

Our evening meal was amazing. The staff were friendly, professional, and polite. The room was exceptionally clean and spacious. Large, very comfortable bed. The air conditioning was quiet and efficient. Loved the balcony. My hubby loved the cooked breakfast.

The sink in the bathroom was far too small - it was pretty impossible to wash yourself or shave. Water splashed everywhere. The shower was fantastic but needs a handheld spray as well as the rainfall head. The continental breakfast could have had more choice.

The Knowes Hotel is spotless and beautifully decorated. Every single member of staff makes sure you are offered a warm welcome, always smiling. The food on offer is absolutely amazing!!! The view of the harbour from the hotel is stunning. We stayed at The Knowes on three separate occasions in as many months and enjoyed every stay. We would highly recommend this hotel, we promise you won’t be disappointed.

Everything so spotless and bright! Magnificent sea view from our top floor bedroom. Mine host made us feeling so welcome from the threshold onwards until our departure! Servers were so attentive ready to take orders at afternoon tea and breakfast time. Its USP is Cafe Neuk being part of the guest house! Delicious freshly cooked breakfast chosen from the menu from which we ordered the evening beforehand. Another USP is the front gardens full of blossoms so well nurtured by the proprietress (according to his husband!)

It wasn't me staying. I'd booked it for my mum and dad-in-law. They had a terrific stay. They got there earlier than check in, but were given a cup of tea till the room was ready. They were so pleased with the room, lovely big bed and a balcony with sea view and were full of praise for the hotel and said they'd recommend it highly." Newly refurbished and just a great place to stay" Think i need to book myself in! 😁.

Fantastic hotel, very fresh and decorated to a high quality. Room was top notch. Staff are all helpful and friendly. Views from restaurant bar are brilliant and the food and drinks very good. Would definitely recommend and will stay again when in area.

Only because of the hotels elevated position the car park is on quite a slope. Had to be very cautious with motorcycles but caused no issue.

Welcoming homely feeling property, tastefully decorated. My room was fabulous ( room 8) with a great sea view !!! My only concern ( if you can call it that) was the dressing table was in a strange position with no plug point close to it, and also, along with the tv, covered the only storage in the room ! But it was fine I managed. Otherwise great room. Loved the Steven brown mc coo !!!

Couldn't fault- from the first step over the threshold, staff were welcoming and friendly, without being too "in your face". Beautiful bedroom - such a comfy bed - and even if no sea view from the bedroom, the views at dinner and breakfast were amazing. Food was lovely - cooked with the best of ingredients and served with care - but I'd already hgh expectations there as I've eaten at the Knowes before.
