The Hotel itself and the Spa were excellent. The room was spacious, light, comfortable, well decorated, and equipped and the bathroom had a bath and separate shower. There are several lounges, the whole hotel is well maintained and accessible. The hotel is centrally located opposite the wellhead and close to shops, the Opera house, restaurants and public transport. Breakfast was very good. The Spa is sensational.
Although the staff were pleasant and polite, the service was often very slow especially in the restaurant and bar and at times seemed a bit unprofessional. We found much of what we ordered in the restaurant either unpalatable or inedible, our requests were ignored and the service for both food and drinks was slow and uncoordinated.

Stunning hotel in the centre of Buxton overlooking road then gardens to the front. Very clean and airy hotel in lovely Georgian building. Old features but contemporary decoration. Beds were very comfortable, room light and airy, very nice bathroom. Spa was fantastic - the nicest i have ever been to. Wished I had booked a treatment or two. Staff were very polite and attentive. Breakfast was very fresh and delicious and served in attractive dining room. Bar, comfortable, had nice views and good atmosphere.
Bar dinner main course a little dull and disappointing - dessert fabulous.

a perfect stay for our wedding anniversary. Staff were lovely, room was perfect, really comfortable and quiet, a complimentary bottle of bubbly was a lovely surprize too. Fantastic location - stones throw from Buxton Opera House. Breakfast was very good and well run - again all the staff were very helpful. would love to return and use the Spa next time.
The tea/coffee making station needs a rethink - we had to boil the kettle on one side of the room, stepping over stretched cables, and make the drinks on a table at the other end off the room.

Spa area. Finding the fresh replacement robes we had requested. How cute the attic rooms were. Having windows that opened.
Queue to check in. Maybe if one could check in earlier the queues wouldn't be so long? Most annoying was no one answered the phone (neither housekeeping nor reception) so I had no idea our request for fresh robes had been received until we found them outside the door next morning (by which point we were wearing the soggy ones from the previous day). Nice to find them though ;) thank you!

Great location and loved the spa facilities. It was wonderful that we didn’t need to book a slot in the spa we could just wait and see when we felt like going. Much more relaxing. Staff are all very friendly.
I just felt that that for the money we paid a couple of things were missing. Eg Netflix or similar (we have our own account but couldn’t seem to use it), it would have been nice to have more than water in the mini fridge (happy to pay more) and finally when ordering tea and coffee at the end of the meal a tiny chocolate or biscuit would have been welcome.

The room and all facilities were really lovely. The bar area was pleasant to meet before dinner. Swimming pool and spa area all exceptional.
The restaurant service was poor, we had a meal one evening of our stay , we were a group celebrating. Staff were friendly but service was haphazard. Our food was not served up altogether and extras we had ordered did not come till meal was finished.

Beautiful hotel, gorgeous interior. Helpful pleasant staff. Lovely spacious room and very comfortable bed. Loved the breakfast and location.
A bit pricey, and parking not included (valet parking for £30), but we were given a map for free parking which helped.

We loved this beautiful hotel with its fascinating history. The location is great for exploring the town and the area. The spa facilities are excellent. The breakfast (included in the room price) is amazing and generous. The restaurant, though pricey, is very good. The staff are friendly and welcoming. We would stay there again.
The attic rooms on the top floor are a bit small for two people with luggage for 4 nights. The desk and chair close to the door make it hard to get out of the room. That said, it was comfortable and well equipped. We were In 405. Maybe next time we'll splash out an extra £40 a night for a bigger room.

I loved the professionalism and friendliness of the staff, the cleanliness and luxury feel of the property, the amazing location right in the heart of Buxton (you can walk to everything and 2 beautiful parks are just outside the door), the INCREDIBLE breakfast, and of course--the amazing spa/waters. The room we had (203) was also really nice in terms of size and amenities, but the location of the room wasn't ideal (see below). We have stayed here previously and loved it then, and it was nice to see the service, quality and condition of the hotel has not diminished in the slightest. I absolutely will not stay anywhere else when I visit Buxton--I like it that much (just choose the right room location)!
My only real issue with our 2-night stay was the location of room (room 203), as it was faced towards the back of the hotel at the far end, right above the loading dock and just across from a bar/restaurant. The loading dock/trash bin noises early in the morning and then the late night yelling and partying from the bar didn't make for a relaxing sleep stay--so be warned!! Get a room that faces the front/park and opposite the low numbers. Also, the parking situation is tough, but we got lucky and didn't have to pay for the Valet Parking (30 GBP a night at time of writing this)--I wish there was a nice garage nearby that was more reasonable.

This hotel was so lovely! It is right in the centre of Buxton, but don't let that put you off. It is a great location to access local shops and restaurants. We were able to drive to some amazing walks in the Peak District in 20 mins. The room was lovely. Really spacious and the bed was incredible! So comfortable. The spa was lovely, although on the Saturday it did feel quite busy with day spa visitors which was a bit annoying. It would be nice if day spa visitors were only allowed during the week. The breakfast was delicious. We had a great stay!
The food in the restaurant is VERY expensive but it was really nice.
