I would like to review the food aspect of the hotel. First of all, the hotel offers complementary yogurt drink in the morning, popsicles in the evening, and ramen at night! I never knew such a hotel that offers stuff this much lol. The morning all you can eat buffet offer fresh and authentic Japanese gourmet. The highlight is the chirashi bowl with fresh local ingredients like small fish and okra. All side dishes are beautiful and delicious. Just by the food point of view, this hotel is already worth the money. On top of that, the onsen is quite nice with hot bath, cold bath, and a hot bath with a cold head/neck rest! Highly recommended to stay here if you are visiting Wakayama City.

Onsen was relaxing and spacious, the mikan juice was delicious at the breakfast buffet. Enjoyed the icecreams after the onsen. Close to wakayama castle and train station. Laundry available.

Lounge facilities after the onsen were smaller than other dormy inn locations. Buffet breakfast had less selections than other dormy inn locations.

The facilities were great - the Onsen was very convenient, and a decent size. There was even massage chairs, and post-onsen treats available too. Breakfast was nice too, there was a pretty good buffet spread, and the food was not bad as well.

The rooms were a little small, especially when we had booked a double room for 2 people - it's basically the same as a single room, the bed wasn't any bigger - and would have been a little cramped for 2 adults. We paid more for a larger twin room instead.

I expected a bit of a mid-range business hotel and was completely blown away with how comfortable and thoughtful Dormy Inn was for my stay. The onsen space and water quality were both excellent, and the TV occupancy indicator was a nice bonus to help avoid crowds. The pillow was quiet likely the best I've ever slept on and I would have asked to purchase it if I had room to carry it on my travels. Breakfast was spectacular and I think everything I wanted in a breakfast buffet. I really, really wanted to spend more time here.

The location is perfect with walking distance convenient stores, Izakaya, foods & drinks. Also, if you are driving nearby has 24 hours max 600 yen parking space. So far overall is good and value for money.

I am having problem with the room water piping issue where every once in a while there is a popping sound. Maybe the water flow drained not so smooth so when someone using it then the weird sound came and it's quite disturbing for evening and sleeping time.

This hotel was a great gem of a find. The room was quite large, and very quiet. The hotel had great amenities - There were massage chairs, an Onsen (which was amazing - sauna and 3 pools), free ice cream (during a set time), free Yakult (in the morning) and delicious Ramen (from 9pm) which were all included in the price. The location was within walking distance to the train station and the castle. Would highly recommend.

Nothing - the stay was great

We were pleasantly surprised with the generosity of the hotel. Their onsen opens up until late night and they also offer freeramen meal and popsicles at night. Not to mention, their room is spacious and well-maintained. Convenient location near the station too is another plus. Am still surprised why is this not a four star hotel.

Perhaps a little nitpick but the parking slots are limited for the hotel. Be prepared to park outside for those with a car

Excellent choice of food for breakfast,especially if you like Japanese style…and fish.They even had fried whale meat on the menu. Free noodle service between 9.30 - 11.00 pm Beautiful onsen baths…the TV in the room will tell you how busy the baths are so that you can plan to go at a quieter time if you wish! An easy 5 minute walk from Wakayama station.

Only 1 big bath towel in the room…which you to take with you when you go to the big baths on the 2nd floor. Nowhere to hang the towel in the toilet/shower area.

I loved the breakfast, all those little bowls of seaweed/veg/raw salmon mixtures, healthy and interesting! They also offered Western food. Every night at 9:30 they provide free ramen which is really good. Apparently, the founder felt sorry for traveling businessmen with nowhere to go at night, no one to talk to, so he served them ramen to get them out of their rooms!

No bathtub! As Americans we're too shy to use the onsen , our bad.

The room though small was well designed, no wasted space. The room was designed with the customer in mind in terms of placement of lights, hanging/placement of towels, good no. of hangers. Same for the shower/toilet. We had two big suitcases. Able to fully open one; semi open the 2nd one. Freebies like onsen, noodles for supper, popsicle, yakult were much appreciated. Room was quiet despite facing the main road.

Only a single pillow for each guest and it’s too flat for my my comfort 😅.
