Kholle House is beautifully designed and truly feels like a traditional home with the family service to match! No request was too small including luggage storage as we headed to Zanzibar, getting our welcome drinks after a 2am arrival and scheduled transfer, and delicious breakfast served daily. We traveled with our parents, a family friend, and our 2 children. Everything was comfortable for every single one of us!! Our balcony was great and while there wasn't much a view (most places are surrounded by others) the location was about 10 min walking from Forodani park, Darjani Souk and easy to find once you placed it. If you are on the fence, I highly recommend booking Kholle House. Thank you Japeth, and team for everything 🙏 and making our stay wonderful!!

Everything was perfect.

The Kholle House was a wonderful experience. It's very centrally located, making it the perfect starting point for many excursions. The breakfast was excellent, and the dinner, with its many regional dishes, is also highly recommended. The staff in all areas were always very friendly and accommodating. I would especially like to thank Steve, the General Manager, Irene at reception for their great support with my luggage that had gone missing at the airline, as well as Babu Ali, the night host, and Daud, the driver, for their helpfulness and friendliness.

The place had a lovely calm vibe and the staff were super professional and friendly. I like the pool which was perfect for my son and myself to cool off as it’s cold and refreshing. The towels are supplied by the pool so no need to carry towels along and used towels can be left when finished swimming. The pool was available to use till midnight which was great. The AC was quiet and very effective at keeping the room cool. The beds are hard which is standard in Zanzibar but I personally like that. The breakfast was delicious and if you’re having dessert you have to try the chocolate fondant cake, delicious 😋. The hotel was a 1 min walk from the ferry and easy access for walking around stone town. Beds were made each morning while we ate breakfast. There was a safe in the room to keep valuable belongings. I liked the fact there was a water distiller on each floor so no need to purchase drinking water.

The only thing I didn’t like was that there was no window view and a balcony would have been nice.

The accommodation offered a cultural feel with art all over I loved this. The staff is absolutely good, they ensure that you have a wonderful stay. The general managers Friday and David stood out in ensuring good service. I don't think I will ever shut up about the FOOD, it's the best I have had during my stay in Zanzibar that exotic prawn salad should be their main dish. The kitchen made sure that my birthday was special with deserts written birthday wishes. The hotel is central so you get to be in busiest parts of the island and it can get quite overwhelming. I absolutely loved this hotel and would definitely book here again.

There definitely something that can be done about the beds and how hard they feel, this seems to be the standard in Zanzibar. The town is quite loud so sleeping over the outside noise can be quite difficult.

Location: 100%, walking distance from all major sites and in the heart of stone town (close to the ferry and a mosque), but this only adds to the charm of the island and the city. Staff: exceptional, from the front desk, to the management, to the waiting and cooking staff I am super grateful for a wonderful experience, kindness and availability were constant. Excellent customer service. Food offering: incredible, curated meals, with local fresh ingredients, Swahili recipes sometimes with a European twist, extremely good value for money. Activities: great offering with experienced, kind and available guides who go out of their way to tailor experiences to one’s comfort and taste. Especially satisfied with the Swahili dinner, which was amazing, from the food to the shisha to the staff’s explanations of the menu and the pairings. Overall amazing experience and strongly recommended for a stay in Stone Town for 2-3 nights.

The room and building were very traditional and had a nice design. The breakfast was very tasty. They were able to book us some activity despite it being Eid. We appreciated the drinking water that was offered.

The windows did not block the sounds from the street and we had a mosque literally right outside the window. It was Eid, so of course it's a great celebration, but as we didn't celebrate, the one hour ceremony at ~4 AM did not let us have a good night. The bathroom could have been a tiny bit more clean, as there were water stains in the bath tub.

I liked the story behind the house and also the thought they have put into the interiors to match the story of the princess. Our room was clean and had its charms, even if rather narrow. Food was ok, and breakfast area by the pool was cosy and great. Within walking distance to the attractions of Stone Town, however hotel itself is a little tucked away without full access to car drop off. But that added to the serenity of the hotel.

The steep stairs and step up and step down situation in bathrooms, so just a note of caution for those not that mobile.

Such a wonderful accommodation. Everything was wonderful, especially the staff. I'll call out Irene and Ramadan as especially welcoming and helpful but everyone was so kind. The restaurant has amazing food...so fresh and flavorful with beautiful presentation. The location can't be beat, convenient to all the shops, the boardwalk, a park and a night food market with dozens of vendors. The hotel is loaded with architectural interest and old world charm. So much interest with the decor. It's a very old, historic building so don't expect shiny new. Some finishes may be a bit tired but everything is clean.Pool is great for an early morning swimming or cooling off after a day in the heat. Really an all around excellent hotel.

Really nothing. Maybe the additional 3 percent fee for credit card but that's becoming more common.

Rooms were quite spacious and the staff very friendly and helpful. Beds were comfy and they were many drinking-water dispensers outside the rooms. The old vibe in general was cool since the building used to belong to a princess. Outdoor space was also nice. Location was good as well - A few meters to the coast road.

Breakfast wad very very poor and didn't have much variety neither good taste at all. Not easy access with a car. Additionally the whole building had a bit weird smell. If you want hot water you need to open a button for 5 minutes, something to be considered. Overall the rooms could use some repairs for example on the bathrooms or the walls

It used to be the house of Princess Kholle in the 1800s and had been converted to a gorgeous boutique hotel. It really has the feel of an antique mansion and the decor is absolutely beautiful! They said they want you to feel like a princess while you’re there and I sure did. The staff is so wonderful and the food delicious. Perfect location too, near all the attractions and the ferry.
