Kholle House is beautifully designed and truly feels like a traditional home with the family service to match! No request was too small including luggage storage as we headed to Zanzibar, getting our welcome drinks after a 2am arrival and scheduled transfer, and delicious breakfast served daily. We traveled with our parents, a family friend, and our 2 children. Everything was comfortable for every single one of us!! Our balcony was great and while there wasn't much a view (most places are surrounded by others) the location was about 10 min walking from Forodani park, Darjani Souk and easy to find once you placed it. If you are on the fence, I highly recommend booking Kholle House. Thank you Japeth, and team for everything 🙏 and making our stay wonderful!!

Everything was perfect.

The place had a lovely calm vibe and the staff were super professional and friendly. I like the pool which was perfect for my son and myself to cool off as it’s cold and refreshing. The towels are supplied by the pool so no need to carry towels along and used towels can be left when finished swimming. The pool was available to use till midnight which was great. The AC was quiet and very effective at keeping the room cool. The beds are hard which is standard in Zanzibar but I personally like that. The breakfast was delicious and if you’re having dessert you have to try the chocolate fondant cake, delicious 😋. The hotel was a 1 min walk from the ferry and easy access for walking around stone town. Beds were made each morning while we ate breakfast. There was a safe in the room to keep valuable belongings. I liked the fact there was a water distiller on each floor so no need to purchase drinking water.

The only thing I didn’t like was that there was no window view and a balcony would have been nice.

Location: 100%, walking distance from all major sites and in the heart of stone town (close to the ferry and a mosque), but this only adds to the charm of the island and the city. Staff: exceptional, from the front desk, to the management, to the waiting and cooking staff I am super grateful for a wonderful experience, kindness and availability were constant. Excellent customer service. Food offering: incredible, curated meals, with local fresh ingredients, Swahili recipes sometimes with a European twist, extremely good value for money. Activities: great offering with experienced, kind and available guides who go out of their way to tailor experiences to one’s comfort and taste. Especially satisfied with the Swahili dinner, which was amazing, from the food to the shisha to the staff’s explanations of the menu and the pairings. Overall amazing experience and strongly recommended for a stay in Stone Town for 2-3 nights.

Such a wonderful accommodation. Everything was wonderful, especially the staff. I'll call out Irene and Ramadan as especially welcoming and helpful but everyone was so kind. The restaurant has amazing food...so fresh and flavorful with beautiful presentation. The location can't be beat, convenient to all the shops, the boardwalk, a park and a night food market with dozens of vendors. The hotel is loaded with architectural interest and old world charm. So much interest with the decor. It's a very old, historic building so don't expect shiny new. Some finishes may be a bit tired but everything is clean.Pool is great for an early morning swimming or cooling off after a day in the heat. Really an all around excellent hotel.

Really nothing. Maybe the additional 3 percent fee for credit card but that's becoming more common.

Rooms were quite spacious and the staff very friendly and helpful. Beds were comfy and they were many drinking-water dispensers outside the rooms. The old vibe in general was cool since the building used to belong to a princess. Outdoor space was also nice. Location was good as well - A few meters to the coast road.

Breakfast wad very very poor and didn't have much variety neither good taste at all. Not easy access with a car. Additionally the whole building had a bit weird smell. If you want hot water you need to open a button for 5 minutes, something to be considered. Overall the rooms could use some repairs for example on the bathrooms or the walls

Our AC was leaking all night and we had water dropping on our heads. Had to put a towel to somehow soak it but was not pleasant Very close to a mosque that will wake you up at 5am for morning prayers Had a bit of miscommunication with staff: despite asking for a breakfast box at 0530 the night before, when morning came, nothing was ready. They prepared us on the go some roughly cut fruit and bred toast without any butter or marmalade. We had to leave it there as it was uncomfortable to eat. Photos attached

We stayed for one night at this beautiful historic building, and it was a delightful experience. The rooms are charming and full of character, and the staff is incredibly kind and helpful. Breakfast was delicious, offering the typical Zanzibari à la carte options. Do note that there is no elevator, and the stairs can be a bit steep, which might be challenging for those with mobility issues. The location is not far from the central part of town but does require some walking. Personally, I wasn’t disturbed by the call to prayer from the muezzin. The pool is fantastic, providing a great place to relax. Overall, a lovely stay in a unique and atmospheric setting!

Very nice traditionaly decorated room and bathroom, as all of the hotel is, beautiful garden and pool with a relaxing and calm vibe, nice Moroccan style terrace where you can be served with a small extra charge (3$), rich and tasty breakfast (the homemade yoghurt with marmalade was really great), delicious Suahili dishes. Very clean facilities and the stuff is very polite and smiley. All that inside Stone town, just 1minute away from the sea and 3 minutes away from the teeming Forodhani night market and walking distance to all of the town's shops and sightseeings.

If I had to find something it would be the lack of a balcony in my room (single) and the fact that it wasn't very bright, due to the building' s architecture

An authentic property in the heart of Stone Town, a nice selection and well presented breakfast, the courtyard and small pool area are quaint. The staff were very smartly dressed and attentive. There was a water cooling machine on every floor, which was an added bonus on very hot humid days. We stayed at this property for its 15/20 minute drive to the international airport and a couple of days in Stone Town.

The noise overnight/early morning from the nearby busy port area, there was also a Mosque next door, which was loud at call to prayer, which we were used to. The stairs are old, step, and wooden and wouldn't suit everyone, although they were in keeping with the design of the building. However, the staff did help with the luggage (there is no lift). For use of the roof terrace there was a 5$ per couple additional cover charge for drinks/food, which for hotel guests is disappointing. In certain places like the bathrooms, they are in need of some TLC and the overall standard is not as luxurious as you would expect from the photos.

Wow!!! Can't praise this hotel enough!! Even though it's not a big one it has everything you need. I managed to stay a night for a good price for a one bedroom overnight stay and from the beginning the staff are so nice and friendly and bring you a drink as a welcome. Then they show you the room and explain everything and answer any questions you have. The rooms are also old style but kept very well having everything you need - ac, fan, comfy bed, safe, hot shower, towels, washing liquid and a safe. The pool is a good sized one and good to relax after a day out. I also had breakfast included and the food was so good from the choice given. Also the centre of stone town is a few minutes walk away (if not seconds 😂). Thanks for an amazing stay, wished I stayed longer!

Wished that the luggage was put in a room when I left it there for the day. Other than that, I honestly have nothing bad to say about the place.
