Great location in the alleys of Stone Town. Awesome view from the terrace. Within walking distance of all sights.

The entire bathroom floods when you take a shower since the drain is on the other side of the room from the shower.

We booked a room purely so we could dump our bags and wander around Stone town for an afternoon as there are no left luggage facilities at the airport. It turned out to be a good idea as the streets are very narrow so large backpacks would be cumbersome. With about 15 minutes notice the front desk quickly organised a private tour for us to Prison island for less than we could organise ourselves. Everything went smoothly and we checked out later the same evening to catch our flight to Dar. There's a grey parrot in the property as well. It's amazing! The view from the top floor is worth staying here for.

It was great. And it included breakfast (which we didn't have) but still... what a deal!

Don't normally eat breakfast but tried it one day and had a very simple omelette. The location ideal for getting around Stone Town although very easy to get lost. all the staff were polite, helpful and very friendly.

The last flight of stairs, need to be fit and healthy to stay on the top floor.

We keep returning to this property because it is an amazing typical Stone town building. Tall and fascinating. We love the top of the building where you can sit and relax and see over the roof tops of the town and out to sea.

Some things could be renovated but then we love it as it is.

Loved the top terrace with a view over the water. Breakfast served there. Clean and comfortable room with nice clean sheets. Good central location in the old city. Note that there are lots of narrow stairs. I liked them and I like being up high. But if you have bad knees ...

This place turned out better than I expected. I could pick up my room and got one with a nice bathroom. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The location is really good, in the middle of Stone Town. The view from the terrace is really awesome. Everything works, no issues.

It was very noisy in the street at night as I was there since one of the staff had shared the WiFi password with the teenagers. They told me this is not usually the case, but I obviously suffered the consequences. There are no windows, so I had to use earplugs to avoid the noise. Also, one of the night-shift receptionists begged me for a soda, which is kind of shocking and unprofessional, but still no big issue. Another issue I had was that the last night my keycard stopped working and they had to change me to another room, which was quite annoying since it was my last night and still had to move all my stuff. But the staff was very responsive and helpful, and this is still Africa, so you should expect this sort of things happening

Very flexible reservation. The owner is very helpful. Its in the very center of old town. But I think one needs to manage ones expectation of luxury here. Most buildings are very old in Stone Town and are therefore not perfectly maintainable (especially for a budget hostel). Thats also what some people mentioned in the comments (stairs etc.). But I can recommend it for anyone on a budget who needs flexible booking conditions. I can not stress enough the helpfulness and flexibility of the staff and owner. Have a good stay!

Great location and amazing views from the top. Simple and good breakfast.

Better to pay in dollars as the exchange rate at check in, like in most of Stone Town, is not the best.

The location is perfect, nice big room and double bed, air con was perfect, brakefast with view on the roof top and a charming old building with wooden stairs in the middle of Stone Town I like it👍
