Perfection! I am not a crowds person, I wanted to visit Netherlands, but didn't fancy staying in busy Amesterdam. I was super happy to find Hello I'm Local in Haarlem! Haarlem for me is the perfect-sized city, you can get your way around it easily, it has all the commerce, the local food, it is not overly touristy and you can still feel the genuine local atmosphere! People don't feel the pressure of over tourism and they are happy to help you, talk to you :) The hostel is really easily accessible from the airport (less than an hour between a direct airport-Haarlem centre bus and a short 10-15min walk). Also equally accessible to Amesterdam (15min walk to train station + 35min train journey to AMS Central). My goal with my visit was to go to the Keunkeuhof (15min walk+45min direct bus) Back to the hostel: it is a lovely building nested in the historical area, it has a coffee/restaurant lounge, also seating areas/tables for you to read/eat/work and kitchen facilities for you to use (fully equiped and with fridge access). I would surely pop by the City Beach the Oerkap (short walking distance & great vibe to chill on a sunny sunset!) I stayed in a female-dorm. It was of rare quality! Mattress, pillow and duvet were luxurious for a hostel! The crowd staying at the dorm was super friendly and chatty, it was great stay! The room is well soundproof, the area is really quiet in the evening, so I had a marvellous sleep every night! The beds have super spacious area underneath to put your belongings, you can either bring your locker or request one at reception. The special touch for me is that my bed was done when I arrived (yes, I was not asked to put duvet covers and pillow cases) and there was a lovely reference to which bed was mine with my name (super cute touch, thank you!) The staff was super friendly and helpful! The atmosphere of the place was incredible! Thank you to the team! Really loved it!
There was nothing really significant I disliked. However, just some suggestions: having a shelf on the bed/lamp/plug would be helpful to charge the phone or other eletronic items; it would be great if in the toilet/shower we could choose to have more intense light (the yellow light sometimes is not enough) and the shower curtain is too light/flows inwards easily. But as I said: small details - you guys are doing great!

Really pleasant staff and stylish place. Enjoyed the vibe of the bar/cafe downstairs and good location.
Room was just a bit too cold but tolerable. I think it's a little cheap to require that you bring your own padlock for lockers and some communal space for drying clothes, particularly in winter, might be sensible.

Hostel was really nice. It was located close to the city center but just on the other side of the river/canal on the cute, calm street. It is located in old residential buildings, so it have a nice athmosphere. The room was really nice and big enough. Bathroom was fresh and clean. Staff was really nice and helpful.
It would be nice if there was possibility of included breakfasts in the price of room - I always look for a places like this, because it's really convenient. But there was a possibility to buy breakfast on the spot every morning, so it wasn't a big deal :)

Cosy and clean place for my part work part leisure trip. I could sit in to cafe and work as long as I wanted. Also all the staffs are very friendly and that makes a solo tracker like me have someone to talk to now and then. Ample sitting area, very close to the city centre and the cafe provides optional breakfast, lunch and dinner if you couldn’t get out for any reason. Saskia was so friendly and gave me tips on where to go exploring. The facility is very clean and well managed. Best part very welcoming atmosphere, it makes all the difference.
I don’t have any complaint just an observation. The bunk beds are high if you are on the second level, I had no issues but would help if there is a barrier to prevent from falling.

The staff was so kind, you could tell that they make a great team and are all very passionate about what they do. I appreciated all the little details, that made everything so much more comfortable and homely. Very nicely decorated rooms. The location was great and altogether I enjoyed Haarlem very much and it is also only a 20-minute train ride away from Amsterdam.
I was in the shared room with fourteen people and the bathroom we shared had a weird smell to it. I had some issues with the laundry I asked them to wash. At first they gave me back my dirty clothes after saying it was washed. Then they offered to wash it again and said it would be ready the next day at 8am (mind that I was supposed to be leaving at 8:45). When I went to pick up my laundry at eight I was told, it would be dry in about two hours. They managed to kind of dry it - nonetheless I had to bring my damp clothes to my next destination. Might have been a little mistake, still wasn’t all that pleasant though. And I had to pay 20€ for the service…

I was able to drop off my luggage before check-in and go out for lunch. When I returned, I checked in easily. There was a guest kitchen available; I didn't use it but it was clean and I saw others use it! I stayed in one of the female dorms, which had 4 built-in bunk beds (8 total beds). Each bunk had it's own built-in storage underneath for guests to use, with hinges to attach a lock. Towels and bed linens were included; bed was already neatly made, I just had to retrieve a fresh towel from the front desk. Each bunk had a functioning lamp and one USB port. There were also at least 2 full outlets in the room. Separate toilet and shower, both with their own sink. Hooks on the shower room wall as well as a hook for each guest in the bedroom! Great for hanging my tote and rain jacket at night. Breakfast was yummy and affordable. The hostel is located in the quiet area of town, which was awesome. No loud people in the streets or in the hostel itself to disturb your rest even with windows open. Extensive "living space" throughout the building (tables and chairs to work or eat or chat at) including an open air space. I spent my days in Amsterdam; the main Haarlem train station is a 15-20 minute walk (or you can take a bus from Bushalte Turfmarkt, about a 7 min walk from the hostel) and there are trains to Amsterdam Centraal at least twice an hour.
My only complaint was how the shower was slow to drain. I don't run the water my entire shower, so it wasn't a huge issue. However, if I had run the water much longer than I did each time, the shallow shower area likely would've overflown onto the main floor of the shower room. Even so, the water often sprayed anyway. Definitely not a dealbreaker for me, but I thought I would mention it!

A truly beautiful space with cozy rooms and comfortable beds. The dorms having a private shower and restroom was a great touch. The location was excellent, and the staff were all incredibly kind and helpful. I also really appreciated the complimentary coffee and tea!
The beds don’t have curtains, which would greatly improve privacy and make it easier to rest, even with the main room lights on. As an early riser, I found the communal space a bit chilly in the mornings, making my morning coffee a little less enjoyable.

Location is great. The place itself is very cute. Looks small from the outside but there's a lot inside. Nice common area, good beds, clean showers and toilets. Felt cozy but modern. Super nice and helpful staff, too. It's also just a 15min train ride from Amsterdam. I felt welcomed and would definitely stay there again.
Only tiny little thing was the USB charger on my bed didn't work so my phone was dead in the morning when I expected it to be charged. But that's really such a minor thing and the staff told me they'll fix it.
