Henk & AnneMarie (hosts) are wonderful! We felt welcomed the moment we walked in until we checked out 4 days later. Location couldn’t be better and breakfast delicious.

Our hosts were friendly, very personable, and went out of their way to make us feel at home and our stay in Haarlem. They also carried (or offerred to carry) our luggage up the stairs. There were lots of options for breakfast including orange juice made right there in the kitchen. The location was good, close to many amenities in Haarlem; the walk to the train station is about 10 to 15 minutes, but there are also buses you can take from just a 3 minute walk away.

There was a table and 3 chairs in the room, which was nice, but the chairs were not the most comfortable. We found ourselves preferring to sit on the bed. This was a minor detail for us.

Hank and Annemarie were so welcoming. They greeted us with warmth and kindness. Breakfast was delicious and they were so helpful with answering any questions about the area. The breakfast room was open all day with free coffee and tea and fruit. Our stay couldn’t have been better!

We loved our stay at Hotel Malts. It was the perfect location, about a two minute walk to the main square. The room was clean, spacious, and comfortable beds. Our highlight was the breakfast each morning and speaking to Henk and Annemarie. If your thinking about staying in Haarlem, do yourself a favor and book early and through their website.

It deserves the high rating. We stayed here May of 2025. I highly recommended this little, comfortable hotel. Enjoy renting their bicycles for a day.

Talk about a gem! This was probably one of the best places we have stayed in 30+ years of traveling. The location is two minutes away from the central market. The rooms are immaculate. Water pressure is great. Bathroom has modern upgraded amenities. Breakfast in the morning is everything you could want or need. And the proprietors look to fill every conceivable need within reason. Staying at Malts was the highlight of a month long trip around Europe.

when you initially walk in the door, there’s a very steep set of stairs. You just need to be aware. (The steps actually lend to the charm of the property.)

Very friendly hosts, we received great tips for our excursions. The reception was very friendly. The location is perfect, in the centre of the city but very quiet. Nice breakfast room and a good selection.

I can recommend this hotel. Charming and helpful hosts, excellent location in the town center, but in a very quiet area. Very filling breakfast.
