The people were incredibly friendly, which made the experience so much more welcoming as a solo traveller. Not only was I pleased to find a place that has an option for single prices for a room, they gave a surprise upgrade to a room with a view of the lake - and I was blown away by it. The location was perfect; while popular spots like Menaggio, Varenna, and Bellagio were nice to explore, they’re crowded so it was wonderful to retreat to a peaceful place like Dongo. Absolutely would recommend choosing Albergo Dongo over hotels in more popular places, though you have to plan ahead with ferries / buses, it’s worth it to have a peaceful retreat. Plus being the other side of the lake there’s less traffic on the ferry so you’re more likely guaranteed a spot over the popular routes to Como. Plus it’s so much more for your money with a modern room and breakfast included too!

This is a lovely little hotel right on the shore of Lake Como. Rooms are newly renovated and very comfortable, ours had a beautiful balcony overlooking the lake. The adjoining restaurant serves excellent local food, possibly the best pizzocheri I have ever tried. Great selection of local wine to go with it. All the staff are very friendly and professional. There is street parking available for 5 euro a day, just across the street. The ferry dock is very close for further explorations of Lake Como. I really like the vibe in Dongo, all of the beauty of Lake Como, none of the hassle, crowds, inflated prices etc.

There is quite a bit of traffic on the street outside. Noise level is not bothersome with closed windows though.

A clean and modern hotel. The room was well equipped and had plenty of toiletries. Air conditioning is a must in summer! The air conditioning had a wide range of controls.The sounds of the street were barely audible in the room, which was great for a sensitive sleeper! Lovely little balcony with a view of the lake. Varied and rich breakfast. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

Parking was limited, but that's the way it is everywhere in Italy. However, there is usually always a space available on the side of the street next to the hotel, and parking there was not expensive.

Lovely village at the lake, we had a very nice terrace with partial lake view. There was a minibar in the hall with some local spirits.

Mould in the shower and the shower door was very difficult to close and open. Despite having the "Do not disturb" card on the door, our room was cleaned every day, which is not preferred by us. Parking with a long car quite a challenge, but we always found a space on the other side of the road

I rarely write reviews but this is one of the hotels which really made a good impression on me so I’ll have to write one. The room and bathroom were SO CLEAN! Everything in the room was very modern. JUST EXCELLENT. Exceeded my expectations by far. The price for a single room here was not expensive at all for the area of Como. All the staff were super nice and friendly and helpful. Really appreciated the super convenient free parking just right next to the hotel. I didn’t need to drag my luggage very far. Liked that you could just cross the road for a stroll near the lake in the evening. Very close to the Madonna della Lacrime Shrine, which is my reason for visiting Dongo. I also left something in the room, only realising after I left, which the lady at the front desk helped me find right away - I super appreciated that especially since I called in the middle of the night. It was easy to call through the hotline and communicate. Stayed in another more expensive hotel in Dongo in 2017 before but will definitely choose this one instead again. Thank you so much! I would recommend this hotel to anyone!

The pillows were a bit flat for my liking but this is common in many hotels and it’s a personal preference thing as opposed to a problem with the hotel. Other than that, NOTHING! One of the best hotels I’ve stayed in!

Stayed only for one night. Room was nice and the house is charming. Would’ve loved to try the restaurant but didn’t. Breakfast and coffee were very nice. Dongo is not the most picturesque place but it’s close enough to Menaggio and other places.

The house is directly on the street so you get a bit of traffic noise at night but nothing bad. The light in our bathroom didn’t work, which apparently was just a faulty keycard and I probably should’ve just said something in the evening and not wait until checkout.

Couldn’t fault anything apart from parking. It’s on the street parking only. Cars have to pay. Motorcycle free.

Everything was great! The location was perfect, right on the lake with a beautiful little balcony with view of the lake. The room was very clean and the hotel seemed to be newly renovated. The staff was very friendly and the breakfast was great. We were able to park just outside of the hotel free of charge. We highly recommend it!

The dinner and wine were excellent and the waiting staff were really helpful, providing information about local bus services etc. I felt very relaxed as a single woman eating dinner.

A little more of attention to the welcome on arrival. It didn't do the hotel justice as everyone was so charming the rest of my stay. Sadly the restaurant is closed on Thursdays! I would have been so happy to eat again there.

The service and the room were excellent. It was super clean and comfortable, with a great view. And the breakfast was very nice, the restaurant downstairs has amazing food.

The only thing was that the bathroom light didn't work. But we forgot to ask to replace it, so it was not a big deal.
