Clean and nice hotel, good location .

There is a laundry service, but it's not always open and there is no soap so I had quite a stressful experience. I was staying only one night, I arrived at the hotel at 8pm, I had to go out again to buy the soap, then come back and change the money for the washing machine cause it only accepts quarters, and do everything in a rush because the room is open only until 9pm. It really doesn't make sense...

Very clean and nicely renovated with spotless paint, nice counters, bright and fresh white linens. I've stayed in a lot of dated motels in the Monterey area, so the renovated/modern feel was a nice surprise - made it feel more upscale. I didn't notice any smells at all, which is great - sometimes there can be a cleaner or paint smell even when clean. Appliances worked well. Staff was really friendly! Beds and pillows were reasonably comfortable. Minor: Coffee in the room was decent.

All of these are very minor! The pool was cold and although it was covered by a roof, it was open to the elements. Since the indoor pool was part of the big appeal, this was a little disappointing. Parking was crowded and a little tough to get into (especially with others parked over the line), but totally fine since we could park anywhere on the property. You could hear other guests outside early in the morning being sort of loud, although that's on them and we didn't complain. Drinking water had a funky taste, so it would be nice if they had some place to refill water bottles.

Memphis, the resident manager was amazing! She is so friendly and personable and accommodating she alone made my stay even more wonderful! Offering coffee / hot chocolate in the office is a nice touch! Although we didn't take advantage of the heated pool that is a nice amenity as well. We will definitely stay here again when in the area! It happened to me at my engagement weekend unbeknownst to me, so staying in your motel made it even better :-)

We stayed in two different rooms 131 had very little water pressure and the plug for the sink didn't work. We stayed in 103 the second night and there was no water pressure in the shower. Also the remotes died on the TV and could not get the TV to work again without it :-( other than that the rooms were great!

Great location. 10-15min from everywhere we went to in Monterey. Very clean, super comfy beds, no issues with amenities. Everything was very nice. I loved that they had a machine to refill ice and water.

It was great. If I had to nit-pick, I would say the pool said it was heated, and maybe it was warmer on the shallow end but on the deep end it was freezing still. The vending machines would only let you do the exact amount of money, and we didn't have change so that was odd. But these are very minor issues that didn't ruin our experience at all.

Clean and nice room. Great that they had a refridgerator and microwave in the room. Our kids loved the pool! Also great with a laundry room available for a small fee. Really good parking availability, lots of unoccupied slots even though the "No Vacancy" sign was on.

There were too little coffee in the room for two nights stay, just covered the first morning's need. And then we checked out early (8am) so the coffee in the office were not available (not open before 9am). Fortunately, we found a McDonalds on our way to SanFran so we finally got our coffee.

We need a place to stay where we could have our own beds and El Castell had what we're were looking for to address that need.. upon arrival, the reception employee was nice & friendly. The room was clean upon arriving with theba/c already going. The amenities were there (TV, microwave, refrigerator, etc.). The room was spacious, not feeling cramped at all. The bathroom was fully stocked with towels as well as bath soaps and lotions from dispensers. Our stay was great and for the most part it was a quiet location. Parking was plenty if we could not be parked next to the room, but found no issue. There is a covered pool on the premises which we did jotbhetbtonuse, but looked relaxing. The location was fine.it was several minutes to downtown or access to the main highways. There are some restaurants nearby if you wanted to stay close to the place. Overall, the motel in my opinion perfect for a family who needs comfort and space so they can focus their time on their trip.

The only concern was the entry to the restroom. There is a two to three inch step up into the bathroom that we discovered. We placed an extra garbage can near in front the entryway to remind us of the different level stepping up or down from the bathroom.

The room had everything I needed. It also had some character and charm, unlike many big name hotels that are nice, but somewhat boring. The bed and pillows were comfortable, everything was clean. A huge bonus for me was how quickly I got checked in. Less than a minute. Then I spent another minute chatting to the very nice and personable lady at the front desk. It was a relaxing stay and I plan on staying here every time I'm in Monterey.

Nothing. Seriously, I'm a little picky about hotel rooms...but I can't think of one complaint.

The Staff was amazing, Super Clean every where on the premisses inside and out. Conveniently located close to Aquarium, cannery row, beaches, and the wharf. Affordably priced, nice and quite too! The 3 beds in a room was spacious. Total bonus for big families.

The only issue we had was the shotty wifi. It kept clocking and kicking us out when streaming Netflix. The pool was cold too. Its more like an out door pool because its opened ontop. So it's not closed off to the cold weather. So awesome for Summer but for winter visits its for the cold swimmers.

Good location, right next to a bus stop. Bus goes to downtown Monterey. Room was clean and staff was nice.

King bed room was smaller than expected. Pool was kind of cold during most days of our stay. It was heated and warmer on our last night (Friday), so not sure if they turn on heat during weekends or had some issue. Car parking is next to the rooms and sometimes you might hear cars as they are turned on. Other than that, we had a good stay!

Awesome place! After almost 2 weeks of traveling and some not so great stays!!....I was pleasantly surprised how nice the place was! Pool was great, it wasn't really really warm but not freezing. Nice to get a cpl loads of laundry done! Loved the rooms!! We had 3 queen beds! So hard to find! Also the landscape was very beautiful and housekeeping was on it!! Would definitely recommend if in the area again! We're from Indiana on a 3 week out west and back trip and this place was a nice stop!

I wish the pool was warmer but hey it does have an open air lounge area right by it to lay in the sun!
