We loved the outdoor space; the hot tub, the fireplace with lounging seats, the fire pit plus extra heaters. It was very nice to relax there after busy days. The wine, cheese and cracker happy hour was extra nice. The staff were very friendly, helpful, and accommodating to our needs and our questions. The hotel was walking distance to the main shopping and dining area. The beach was close by to go to for sunrise. The small refrigerator with a freezer was great. We enjoyed the picnic basket for breakfast. The robes were nice too. All in all we had a great experience

The rooms were a little warm without ac, but fans were provided as well as a ceiling fan.

Our allocated room was very dark but the receptionist changed it for us. Our second room was on the first floor and overlooked the water and the mountains. It was large and bright with patio doors opening onto a small balcony. The service was very good and there was plenty of parking. Complimentary wine and cheese happy hour. Really nice breakfast basket.

We needed to upgrade to get a room with natural light. It wasn't cheap - another c$100 on top of our original payment. Carmel is an upmarket and expensive place. We felt the hotel was also expensive. Whilst it wasn't a problem for us, it is in one of the steepest locations in the town so walking to/ from shops, restaurants and particularly the beach would be a problem for anyone with mobility problems.

Pam met us at check-in and was warm and informative. Horizon is beautifully situated away from the hurly-burly of downtown Carmel while only a few minutes away on foot. We enjoyed the happy hour of local wines and cheeses, the roominess of our room, the gas fireplace, and available parking. There was also a small hot tub for a good soak. The bedding was elegant. We had a hard time, though, adjusting to the pillows--either too big or too small and soft. We thought the window was locked in place but later figured out that it was merely stuck (Room 112). We liked the overhead fan, multiple mirrors, great shower. The robes were stylish but polyester and too warm. Overall, highly recommended.

The location of this hotel was the primary reason for booking, and it was perfect for what we needed! Just about a 10 minute walk to Ocean Ave with a little bit of an uphill walk back, but super convenient. We also loved having the breakfast provided because it meant that we didn't have to rush out anywhere in the morning. The rooms were spacious, clean, and provided everything that we needed.

The only thing we didn't like was that there was no AC, but that is pretty normal for hotels in the area. It just happened to be unusually warm while we were there. Luckily the hotel provided fans in each room and we slept with the windows open.

The staff was very friendly, the free breakfast in a basket was a nice touch with some fresh options. The room was clean and we even had an ocean view. The air was so nice and fresh! The location is great - just a couple of blocks from downtown, but a nice and quite street. The free parking was such a perk as there is limited parking in the area.

The room felt a little tired and didn't have the freshest smell. The bed was impossible for 2 people to sleep in - so bouncy that when one person moved / turned the other woke up. We didn't sleep very well at all. The room had no AC (no problem for us, just a remark). The room was pretty dark.

The location was really nice and safe, super quiet too. The room was quaint and tucked away where nobody else was really. It was like a cottage/air b&b type vibe, I felt safe going across the street to smoke at night. I loved the modern hot tub, view and little kitchen area provided. There is a box fan in the room which was also nice for white noise at night.

The cost of the suite was $500 per night which was super expensive once we saw the room. It was very outdated and not spotless clean which you'd expect for that price. We had a great time overall but the breakfast was also lacking for the price... a basket at your door with fruit, boiled eggs, cantaloupe, bread and OJ basically. Better than nothing but still for the price of the room it was lacking.

First of all, Rudy at the reception desk was very helpful, friendly, and informative about the area and attractions. Second, the room was clean and offered everything we needed. Third, the public spa area was clean and comfortable. The spa was just the right temperature, and there were towels for us to use there. Lastly, the parking lot and overflow lot were a nice bonus.

The room was very stuffy and warm. The fan helped a little, but it was not cool enough. We will have to come back in the fall when it isn't as warm out. I was looking forward to the breakfast basket because of the reviews, but I was disappointed in the quality and offerings. I assume there is no kitchen to prepare a meal, so I understand the choices are limited. Local pastries/bread and jams would be nice, as well as a carafe of local coffee. We enjoyed the peaches each day, though!

The courtyard with a hot tub is beautiful. Cozy place to sip complimentary wine and cheese by a fireplace! The room was absolutely SPOTLESS! The bathroom was so clean and the kitchenette we had was such a nice touch. The staff is incredibly helpful and friendly! The breakfast basket was a perfect touch, though I would suggest more protein options. Each day is a different variety and a really nice touch!! Mostly carb options though, except for the one day they included a hardboiled egg! I appreciated that.

There are only 2 things that were not to our liking, but did not disrupt our trip. 1) when people mention the rooms are outdated, this would not be bothersome if it were not for the fact that the actual bed was from the 1990s. haha Spring mattress and all. Very uncomfortable I'm sorry to say, but we made the best of it considering everything else was great! Also, the TV was right out of the 1990s too! Couldn't hardly see the picture. I didn't care because watching TV on vacation isn't a priority, but my husband would have enjoyed a newer screen. :)

Great location, a bit of a trek up the hill from the Main Street but generally easy access. We loved the jacuzzi/fireplace area - nice and clean and newly remodeled, also a convenient water & ice dispenser right there. The daily breakfast delivery in vintage wooden baskets was a really nice touch! Fresh, tasty selections and saved us $30pp on a typical restaurant breakfast. Housekeeping did a great job keeping the room clean and tidy. The owners were super friendly and helpful - they took time to chat with us at the nightly complimentary wine & cheese happy hour - another nice touch!

Our room could have used some updating, especially the bathroom area and some of the furniture which seemed a little 1990s.

We loved the fresh breakfast basket delivered to our door each morning. It included lots of choices, including pastry, cereal, fresh fruit and fruit juice. We also loved the complimentary 'happy hour' of local wine and cheese each evening in the main reception. Parking was very easy, convenient and secure. The room was an excellent size, with a view of the ocean from the balcony.

The shower head was fixed to the wall in a very low position, making washing hair very interesting. Otherwise, we loved everything about this inn.
