We had a room on the 5th floor with a balcony and a fireplace. The balcony had two chairs and an end table and we could sit and view the ocean! The sunset the one night without an ocean layer was spectacular! Our gas fireplace flames looked like a real wood-burning fire. The room was spacious and the bed was comfortable with nice linens. There were TWO comfortable chairs.The complimentary breakfast was very good. They always had eggs and meat (bacon or sausages), fresh fruit, danish, bagels, juice and great coffee.

The toilet was very low and my husband (81) and I (73) found it challenging getting up and down!

The property is located a few blocks from Ocean Avenue, which is the Main Street that goes through Carmel. As a result it is quiet in the evenings and the view from some of the rooms is truly incredible. The room we had also had a fireplace, coffee maker and an adequate refrigerator. The king size bed was very comfortable, and we woke up well rested. Breakfast was included, and their coffee was surprisingly good. The staff was friendly and helpful, and we couldn’t have felt more at home.

My wife and I genuinely have no complaints.

The Hotel was overall very nice and comfy. The free breakfast was a nice add on. Sure the options were limited but it was for free. The little fireplace in the room gave it an extra cozy vibe. The room were comfortable and had everything needed. Very well located too.

The fireplace worked with gas. So there was always a little flame burning. You could extend the flame with a switch on the wall. It would have been nice to get an info during the check in or have at least an info note in the room about it. The fire is behind a metal curtan that can easily been opened. Also we were told that other customers had tried to blow out the flame which would be very dangerous because of the gas. So in order to avoid irritation a note about it would be very helpful.

This is a very nice well established Inn in Carmel right in the hub of things, all restaurants, galleries and shops are minutes away. The rooms are on multiple levels and you can, from the top two floors, see the sea! Our room was large had a wrap around veranda with 2 sun beds and an outside dining table which was a nice touch for a sunny Californian day! The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The bed was excellent and the bathroom large with lots of hot water. Private on site parking helps when travelling through. The noise level between rooms was minimal (which is something you often have to consider with older Inns) : all in all a very well managed property. The price to quality ratio very good.

Breakfast buffet was in a dedicated space which could easily have been made more attractive. The breakfast selection was OK but only offered paper plates and plastic cutlery … (impossible to spread butter or cut bacon with!!) : sadly it all felt a little ‘temporary’ and rushed. I think without too much effort this could really be improved

Location is excellent; shopping, restaurants, etc. are all within walking distance. The heater worked properly, the bed was comfortable, the shower was great (I want that shower head in my bathroom at home!) and no dust bunnies anywhere. Also liked the fact that the maid service was by request (call by 11:00 if you needed more towels, toilet paper, etc.) which meant that the room was only accessible during our stay by my husband and myself. No worries about locking things up or having access to our room at any time and not having to think about whether the maid service was in the room when we needed to be. This was a change from a prior stay we had there last August and we felt it was actually a positive thing (might not be so convenient if a stay is longer than 3 nights).

The TV control was very confusing and it seemed to be impossible to get from one channel to the next. Some written instructions would be helpful. This is a little thing to complain about but the soap dish on the sink was impossible to use; once the soap was wet it stuck to the bottom of the dish. More hangers would be helpful as well; 5 weren't quite enough.

I can’t say enough about this place. It was so cute! The front desk staff were amazing. We got an ocean view king room on the 4th floor, and you had to drive around to the back street to access the unit (on a big hill), which was super convenient because we didn’t have to use the elevator or stairs. We had room 405 and it had a HUGE balcony with private sitting area, beautiful ocean view. Perfect for watching the sunset. The room was really spacious with a fireplace, no A/C unit, but if you know Carmel, you know you don’t need it because there is a constant cool breeze. There’s also a window that you can open with a screen to let the breeze in. The bed was very comfortable! This place was so close to everything. A few blocks away from downtown. So much to do in this adorable little town. We were here for our honeymoon and it was amazing. We also loved the pretty flowers that were in hanging baskets all over the inn. Such a nice touch! Will definitely be staying here again. Very affordable and so cute! There’s also a little grocery store right next door, which is convenient.

Fireplace was lovely. Room was clean and attractive. Soap and hair products were very nice. Location was wonderful with restaurants, grocery and a park with in a block or two.

The air vent in the bathroom was very noisy. A separate switch would have been helpful. Needed better light in the bedroom. It was very cold and the space under the door could have better sealing to keep out cold air. very limited parking available.

The location, the room and the comfort were all fantastic. This was our first time in the area and Carmel is a beautiful seaside town. The hotel was located right on the edge of the downtown area which provided very easy walking to many restaurants, shops and galleries (we ate at Vesuvio right across the road). There is also a small grocery store and wine retailer right next door which is handy. Parking is onsite and close to the rooms. There is a swimming pool but May was a little early for that. The room itself was beautiful with a very comfortable bed and a spacious bathroom. It was probably the nicest room we stayed in all trip!

Breakfast was limited though standard for what I have experienced in US Hotels so far - I wish they would offer some better options for breakfast, it doesn't compare at all to Hotel breakfasts in Australia or Asia.

I LOVED Carmel Bay View Inn! The facilities are super clean, the free parking is a plus, and the breakfast is plentiful and delicious. The best part of the inn is the staff. From the front desk to the cleaning crew, everyone is super friendly and accommodating. I connected really well with Karla, who is super cordial and makes connections with the guests as they check-in, check-out and in between., Carmel Bay View Inn will be our home away from home. We plan to go back in October!

I wish I had an extra day to stay! Carnel is such a cute town and with the hotel at walking distance to everything, it made it super easy to walk around and go back to rest before going out again.

Fabulous.. spacious comfy rooms.. fridge.. coffee maker.. comfy bed.. fizzy water and drinks in the fridge free in our rooms.. snacks.. cakes ect in lobby… we also had an amazing view of the water opposite.. fire pits outside.. very comfy and spacious.. Amazing breakfast … full bacon pancakes.. coffee.. all included…

Only sadness was no wine like they used to in the evening… but they are getting their drink license.. but no big thing.. a shop within walking distance where you can buy wine.. so we bought a bottle..
