The property was very cool! Super old style but you need to be into that before you go. Everything looked very original. Roll top bath with a separate shower, quirky furniture to match its style and we had wonderful sea views from the top room. So glad we stayed as I personally love this style but could be deemed old fashioned to some. The history behind this house is really cool too. Loved learning about who used to live here and the area before it’s current condition. The breakfast was a bonus. Coffee, plenty of tea selection, juice, pastries and bagels to help yourself plus parfait offered on arrival to the dining area. Not to forget the complimentary glass of wine on arrival. Really nice touch and very appreciated on our stay after travelling up from the coast!

The only criticism I would have is the noise pollution from other guests in the morning. Given the age of the building and how thin the walls might be, this is totally understandable however it was difficult to sleep. Plus being located on the top floor, we heard the seagulls first thing in the morning which woke us up initially. We did choose this top room so no discretion there but certainly something to think about.

The Victorian architecture; the nightly (one free glass of ) wine (two reds, two whites, one bubbly); the yogurt parfaits for breakfast (best I’ve ever had); the location; the friendly, helpful staff; the limited onsite parking (but lots of street parking nearby; the international flavor of the clientele (we met French, Italians, British & Germans).

Very limited storage space in the room (one average-sized armoire which was mostly filled with a room fan, iron, and hair dryer), one large drawer (which had window screens in it), no room under the bed (because of the ironing board) and one folding suitcase stand (which was not too useful for hardshell suitcases which open like a book).

We stayed here for two nights and enjoyed the facilities of Monterey whilst the hotel itself was “as described“. Very well located in an area with lots of choice for restaurants for dinner and far enough away from the centre to be quiet but still only a 10 minute walk.

The rooms are quite small and it is an old building so don’t expect any luxuries. The plumbing is original and therefore close to 100 years old and things do make noises plus the walls are quite thin and you’ll hear everybody walking around upstairs. That said, it didn’t stop us from sleeping.

The property is a quaint victorian building centrally located in walking distance to the water and to all the amenities of Pacific Grove. For anyone who prefers a sparkling minimalist look, this place isn't for you. Its charm is in being a bit old fashioned, comfortable and tweedy. It has a luminous salon with comfortable chairs and serves a free glass of wine in the evenings. Great place when coming in from the damp sea air.

The breakfast was not "wonderful" as described by some. It was minimal and presented without much charm or interest. Ways to improve would be. 1. A self service espresso machine that also does other things like boiling water (not from a thermos), hot chocolate, etc. 2. Instead of the fixed "yogurt parfait" that appears every day, a spread that included all those ingredients separately and also providing healthy bread, jam etc. Not just the fixed bagel and cream cheese. 3. Real juices instead of a colored drink.

The staff are lovely. Common areas are in the style of the building. The bed was comfortable and the room had everything we needed. The bathroom in particular was spacious and well-designed. Parking was easy - if you can't get a space directly in front of the hotel there's plenty of street parking. It's a safe location, close to restaurants and the beach/coastal paths. It was a pleasant walk to the Monterey Aquarium. Breakfast (bagels, pastries and a yoghurt/berry/parfait) was more than we expected from the description. There was a complementary evening drink. We enjoyed our stay and thought it was excellent value.

Street-facing rooms can be noisy and if you're a light-sensitive sleeper you should pack eye shades.

We loved being in Pacific Grove. We were able to walk to most of the locations we wanted to see in Monterey/Pacific Grove. The breakfast was delicious and a great way to start the day. The evening wine was lovely to wind down with. Our cabin was private and quiet.

There was a group of seagulls on the roof that made so much noise down the chimney! Beach life problem for sure. The main bed was softer than we like. The pull out couch was a little too small for our adult kids. But we made the best of it and still slept ok

We really enjoyed our 2 nights at the Centrella. The staff made us feel very welcome and the twin room, although small (#3, with twin beds) was very comfortable. I suspect the double rooms are larger. The beds and pillows were very high quality and the WiFi was fast and reliable. The yogurt parfaits at breakfast were a treat and the pastries were fine (supermarket quality, not bakery quality). Parking was easy and the location was ideal for our visit. We enjoyed our glass of wine in front of the fire in the evening, admiring the festive holiday decorations. We would definitely come back.

My son and I planned a last minute trip to Monterey Bay over Labor Day Weekend. We were lucky to find and be able to book this property at a reasonable price. The location in Pacific Grove was perfect for us. It was in a quiet residential area away from all the craziness near the aquarium and there was plenty of parking available on the street. We could easily walk down the hill to the coast or up the hill to get a bite to eat. The room was clean and the beds were comfortable. Not a large room, but plenty big enough for two adults. Also, the property was beautiful. We enjoyed sitting in the garden patio in the evening while we sipped our complimentary glass of wine.

The included breakfast was fine, but would not be a reason to stay here. The granola-yogurt parfait was delicious and the coffee was good and plentiful, but the pastries were not very good. Also, breakfast is not served until 8, so on two mornings we were gone before it started. There was not a lot of water pressure in the shower.

Stayed at the Bungalow. Quiet spacious. Historical interiors and decorations but well perserved and maintained by the staff. A rare opportunity get to live in an old historical building comfortably. Location is also amazing, walkable to downtown and to the beach, both are quiet scenic. The breakfast and afternoon tea in the lobby is very enjoyable with the decoration, fireplace, and the music. Staffs has been all very nice and helpful. Overall, great experience.

Both my husband and I found the hotel to be quite appealing due to its old world charm. This large Victorian house built prior to 1900 has been restored and maintained meticulously by protecting its original 'flavor' plus adding modern conveniences. The property offers both rooms in the main house with communal dining room/living areas as well as a few cottages offering a private living room + bedroom. We experienced both and were very pleased. There is also a lovely sunny/shady backyard with patio tables and chairs set under a large redwood tree. You will find various thoughtful touches throughout that will make you smile. The hotel staff was personable, courteous, and always ready to serve us as we needed. The location is perfect within close walking distance to shops, restaurants, and ocean.

As it was a brutally hot the several days we were there, it might have been a bonus for the property to be directly across from the ocean with ocean views. However, it was a short walk - even for Seniors - directly to the ocean. Views from the hotel windows are pleasant.
