The bedrooms at El Rodeo are enormous and have all the facilities you would expect in a good three star hotel. It was a very quiet and comfortable place to stay There are plenty of facilities for leisure such as pool table, swimming pool and a large restaurant and the grounds are refreshingly rural looking for an urban hotel. The service in the restaurant was good (Breakfast and dinner) and the food tasty. There was ample parking and the staff were friendly and helpful.

We would have liked a better selection at breakfast. There was nowhere to get a snack or hot drink except while the restaurant was open. It is quite a long way to walk (you wouldn't want to drive, as there was a near permanent traffic jam outside) to any other place for food or drinks.

It’s like an oasis! In Belén, close to the airport. When you enter the gate, it’s peaceful, big property, nice gardens, tennis court and swimming pool and it feels super safe, plenty of parking space inside the property too. Our flight arrived late at night so it was wonderful that they have the restaurant open till late, which has great food. Also the staff of both the hotel and the restaurant abs very friendly. The rooms are very spacious, clean and super comfortable beds. We loved it!

The staff were utterly superb. Rooms clean & quiet. It was a bonus to have an excellent restaurant on site as the hotel is quite remote, food in the restaurant was top notch served by very helpful staff. Pool was enjoyable & relaxing, pay no heed to comments about the pool being dirty, it's not, just leaves from surrounding trees. Highly recommend this hotel to relax and prepare for your onward journey.

This is a lovely property with friendly staff and a steak restaurant on site. It has good facilities like a swimming pool, tennis court and children's play area. The beds are comfy and the bedroom is clean and spacious. From my perspective this is the ideal place to stay if you need to put your head down for an early flight the next day whether it's from the domestic or international airport. We arrived from London the day we stayed and had a flight out the next day so it was ideally located near the airport but still in a pretty setting.

I liked the location being close to the airport, it was quiet at the same time. The staff were nice and cordial. The room and hotel were clean. The appearance of the outdoors area feels serene going from a busy area of town to this quite and nice location.

The room we got didn’t have much hot water, it came on and off but we only stayed one time.

The El Rodeo is located about a 20 minute UBER ride away from the S.J.A/P. ($26.00 us) Uber ride. Also about a 25 min. ride into San Jose. The atmosphere/location is a nice mix of urban and rural with lots of trees, birds chirping and even a rooster nearby calling the day..And even Makela..the hotel cat was friendly... We had the Superb room and it was more than enough space for the 2 of us.. Beds were very comfortable. The room had a small microwave and a fridge to keep your food or drinks cold. It's not a minibar. The compound is completely enclosed and has attendants at the front gate all evening. It's not that it's in an unsafe area. We did walk outside at night and never felt threatened or endangered. It's just that almost every hotel and home in C.R. is enclosed or gated. Every member of the staff was very helpful, friendly and as accommodating as can be. Finally, in our 4 night stay that included breakfast..I must say we were more than pleasantly surprised. The Steakhouse on the property wasn't just good, it was Excellent...We ate dinner there 3 of 4 nights. If you don't want a 3 to 4 hr trek to stay at the oceanside beaches or near the volcano/ waterfalls near Arenal or Monteverdi, this is a very nice location. You can always take an excursion. But most of them to those places start pickups at 6 or 7 from San Jose.

Although the hotel and property were very clean, I think I might have rated El Rodeo even higher had it been updated some. We did not like the very high walled bathtub/shower. It had a step up block just to get into the tub to give you an idea. The bottom of the tub is dangerously slippery with no non slip grip or bar to hold onto when you're in it. Getting out was as dangerous as well. If you're elderly or impaired in some manner, IT WILL BE very challenging. The other negative is that there is really no shops or restaurants nearby in walking distance. Ferdy's has really good food. Very rustic indoor/ outdoor and is about a 3 block walk. But you'll be on torn up paths and sidewalks to get there and not a lot of streetlights...

Breakfast was excellent .. yet had to walk to restaurant to sit down and order .. would have loved it if they had in the room delivery for night and morning for food

The beds were comfortable and plenty of space for our family. Close to the airport and we enjoyed the food at the steakhouse.

The WiFi was spotty and the service at the restaurant was slow. Was still at great place to both stay and eat at and would definitely go again.

The property was spacious and had many amenities; pool, hot tub, on site restaurant, event space, free parking, hi speed internet, and spa services. It was well decorated and maintained.

Everything was fine except we didn’t get to enjoy it long enough. Also, we arrived on Sunday afternoon and weren’t aware that the restaurant closed at 5 pm. We would have eaten there if it would have been open later.

Easy to find, easy to park, easy to check in. Friendly receptionist. We used this hotel for one night after the long flight from europe and it was fine.

There were some machine / engine noises during the night from somewhere. One night ok. Dont know if it would be ok for more nights.
