The gardens were beautiful. Javiaer was very helpful. Good breakfast included. We moved after the first night into one of the units with a porch. This made a huge difference. We loved sitting on the porch overlooking the pool. If you are staying more than one night, the rooms with a porch are highly recommended as the other 4 have nowhere to sit inside except the bed.

We don’t realize just how small the cabin would be. The cabins with a porch in the back were much better! There was nowhere within a 15 minute drive to eat, except on the weekend. It was at least a 20 minute drive to most anywhere we wanted to go.

The place is beautiful, we had one of the rooms which overlook the pool area and I would definitely recommend getting one of these as the view is great. The room was simple but comfortable and clean. The pool was beautiful and we loved having a dip, it is a great space to look at the birds and the sunset. The grounds were well kept and looked gorgeous. The staff were helpful and friendly. The breakfast was wonderful and generous.

There were not many sunbeds so if several guests want to use at the same time, it could be an issue. The hosts are helpful in terms of giving you options to eat e.g takeaway details in a folder, but it is remote so if you want somewhere to be able to walk out for dinner each night then this isn't the place for it.

We stayed here with a plan to visit poas volcano. The host Javier was really helpful with everything, including assessing that the weather was too bad for the volcano and finding us a great plan B. We were 4 people staying in 2 nice cabins in a great location, where entertainment is provided by the Montezuma birds and hummingbirds in the mornings, and there is a great view over a valley of coffee plantation.

The pool area is not the same as in the picture, but we were there in bad weather at the end of the wet season and repairs were in progress.

Lovely peaceful oasis just 45 minutes from San Jose airport so it’s the perfect stop either at the beginning or end of a trip. The lodge had a little patio which was so lovely to sit out and watch the sunset. It’s very remote and we visited during Holy Week so all the restaurants were closed in the evenings which was a shame but there were lots of activities to do during the day. Breakfast was lovely!

It is very remote although this did add to the peacefulness of the hotel! The bed was very firm!

Fantastic location if you want to get away and have a bit of solitude. View down the valley is great but there is a fair amount of development on the hill opposite and the sound and lights do carry. Volcan Poas, La Paz and Toro waterfalls can be reached within an hour's drive. Be prepared to use the kitchen facilities - that's what they're there for. There is one walkable restaurant but only open Fri/ Sat/Sun but very good food. We had one of the larger cabins which was much more spacious and had better views and a private balcony so I would highly recommend one of these rather than the smaller ones (budget allowing of course). Free parking right outside cabins. Great breakfast - food & setting. Staff are very willing to help with anything.

Swimming pool could do with a bit of attention - getting a bit worn and jaded. But still great for a soak at the end of a hot day.

Javier was very helpful, responsive. The bed was fine. The breakfast was very good, and the breakfast area was very serene and comfy.

The lighting in the room was not good. Only one of the three overhead bulbs was working, and we never did figure out how to turn on the satellite TV - not sure if the battery. to the remote was dead, or what. I didn't ask Javier about these things; if I had, I'm sure he would have dealt with them.

We were lucky enough to get one of the wooden cabins, and had an absolutely breathtaking view from our deck (complete with authentic Costa Rican rocking chairs! This was our very favorite spot to be while at Mango Valley!) We loved sitting and watching the hummingbirds at the flowers right by our deck and listening to the Montezuma Orenpendola. There were even nests in the trees by the office! This hotel is off the beaten path, a little remote, but absolutely perfect for relaxing. We were still close enough to drive to all of the places we wanted to visit, though, as we had a rental car. The included breakfast every morning was wonderful, and made fresh at our arrival! Loved the pool, though the water was pretty chilly. We still went in! Who can resist a green infinity pool??? THere's a hotel just up the road, and plenty of options for order in. With the small kitchen it's easy to prepare what we needed when we chose not to go out. Loved this hotel so much!

The pool water was too chilly to really enjoy being in. There were only 2 chairs by the pool, and it was a popular place when we were there. We sat on the wooden deck, but more chairs would have been nice.

Javier, at the front desk and at breakfast, was so very friendly and helpful. The grounds were beautiful. Loved having a coffee pot in the room so that we could sit outside and enjoy the beginning of the day while sipping coffee. Also very much enjoyed the fresh fruit with a freshly-cooked breakfast.

Can’t think of anything.

I loved my stay at Mango Valley. The terraced garden is a beautiful place to sit and watch the birds and insects. When I was there the extraordinary Montezuma birds - with bright yellow tails - provided hours of entertainment. I had a cabin with a balcony - wonderful spot to watch hummingbirds buzz around and enjoy a cup of local coffee. The staff are friendly and helpful. Breakfast is huge and delicious with fresh fruits and eggs cooked to order. Cabins have a basic, but well-equipped kitchen and, although small, are very clean and comfortable.

This isn't a negative, but if you don't have a car you may like to bring some groceries tea/ coffee for the first day or too. I didn't take the bus into Grecia - but it goes every hour from end of street most days (I think tow on Sunday). The nearest supermarket is down the hill in Carbonal - maybe 3kms - a steep walk back up if it is hot

Hotel was a bit remote, but well worth the drive. The View was amazing! It was very peaceful and easy to relax . Javier, the manager was very friendly, knowledgeable about the area and very professional. Although we didn't get a chance to use it during this trip, appreciate the hot plate and kitchen supplies in order to prepare or reheat meals.

Entrance/ access road was narrow and a little steep. Would have appreciated additional signs, letting us know we were on the right path. Long driveway to the hotel.
