property was gorgeous, lawn outside was gorgeous and well maintained, over the small road there was a gorgeous area with sun loungers, pontoon and stairs to climb into the water (definitely go for a swim if weather permits) the property inside was equally as beautiful, large balconies, great bar, and incredible rooms!!

there’s nothing wrong with this property it’s just incredible for the value for money, location, looks and amazing staff

⸻ We stayed for a week in August, a family of four with two children. Overall, the hotel is excellent – it’s in a perfect location and has a very nice private beach (including SUP boards and rowboats available for guests). Breakfast was good and varied, and the rooms were spacious and clean. Parking is not always available on-site, but it’s not a big issue unless it’s raining heavily, as the hotel provides free parking just a two-minute walk away. We had dinner at the hotel restaurant once – the food was tasty but relatively expensive compared to other restaurants in the area.

My wife was bothered by the fact that no body lotion or conditioner was provided.

Location was great if you don’t mind a short walk into St Wolfgang. It’s not a long walk. 15 mins max. We preferred the location as it was quieter and on a beautiful part of lake. Right next to the ferry terminal so really ideal. We almost don’t want others to know about this hotel! It’s the perfect combination of feeling at home but also being looked after. Staff are so lovely. Professional but friendly and just make you feel so welcome and that they appreciate you making the choice to stay there. Room was amazing. View so special. Restaurant was fabulous. Best meal we had during the holiday. Decking area next to lake is the best with free paddle boards to use. Free bikes to use - which we did. Nothing is any trouble and you feel so relaxed. The rooms and hotel very clean. Just perfect 3 nights. Why didn’t we book longer! 🥴

The fact that other people don’t respect that the decking area is private for hotel users. A few people came for “a look” and one couple just used the beds and spent a few hours there - they were not at the hotel. Sounds petty but we spent a lot of money to stay at the hotel and but they used for free! Just not something I would do. Also hotel commissioned a drone recording (assume it was hotel!) while we were sunbathing. Didn’t ask and made me feel a bit uncomfortable and awkward.

The most wonderful few days in St Wolfgang. A stunning setting in this beautiful town. Very peaceful and good for the soul. The hotel is lovely , big bedrooms with a beautiful view of the lake and everything you need for your stay. The food is great both at breakfast & in the evening & the staff are very engaging. The location is near to the ferry, next to the cog railway on the bus route & a short walk into town . Perfect.

Although unseasonably hot the bedrooms require air conditioning or a fan at the least. We stayed in room 311 & i wish we had had a firmer mattress. The combination of the heat & a soft mattress didn't make for the best of sleeps .

Where to start. First, the "apartment" is a unique room at this hotel. It is the entire upper floor over the boat garage, or boathouse. We arrived early, and the lady at the reception desk gladly welcomed us and escorted us across the street to the stand-alone boathouse and showed us around. The boathouse, as the name indicates, sits on the water - literally over the water. The apartment was built new last year, and it has many comfortable features, like heated floors in the bathroom and electric roller shutters for all the windows. But...all that only pales in comparison to the view from the full-width deck. Sitting over the water with absolutely no obstructions puts the stunning view from this place right at the top of our list of places we've stayed. The bed was super comfortable and there were many nice touches that made our stay very memorable. The breakfast was quite nice with cooked-to-order eggs and nice fresh pastries. It was also nice to have free parking, as well as a huge common deck with lots of lounge chairs. Everything about this hotel screams quality, and it was well worth the price.

Strandhotel Margaretha is a lovely traditional property with a great view! It is very well located for accessing the old cog train (which takes you to the mountain) and both ferries. Additionally, it is only 5-10 minute walk into the St. Wolfgang town and it’s an easy drive from Salzburg airport. Room was nicely furnished in a combination of eclectic and traditional style with plenty of storage space and separate bathroom, plus a separate space with wardrobe. Feels like certain rooms have had their bathrooms modernised, while ours was slightly old fashioned (not a major problem functionality wise). The best part of the hotel for summer guests is a private beach/dock well equipped with paddle boards, row boats, etc. for enjoying the lake. And bikes!

Hotel vibe is not quite "the design vibe" as advertised, more traditional style (nothing wrong with that). The lobby has not been updated as nicely as certain rooms. Common spaces are a bit dated, especially the ones taking you to the rooms in the back, and hallway carpets are in a desperate need of replacement. Elevator is not user friendly for all the floors. Breakfast is a bit boring, nothing wrong with the quality, but lacking in variety and imagination. Lastly, parking at the hotel itself was a true chaos! Not really something hotel can influence, but be aware of overprivileged Mercedes/BMW/Audi drivers taking over 2 parking spots for their precious cars.

Fantastic place - especially sitting for breakfast with a view is amazing. Private beach with great facilities, tasteful room furnishings.

It was just short of ten points compared to the best hotels in St. Wolfgang. Examples: - ran out of green tea and no one refilled it (ordered) in 5 days, while not having 20 types of tea that no one drinks - at breakfast, change the monotony a little (or expand the offer) and sometimes a few details are enough - for example, cut radishes or add different fruits during breakfast, add dressing for vegetables or fish, a good selection of sweets for breakfast, but the same variety, etc. - put some water or at least cups in the wellness area It's the little things, but there are more of them, and that's what sets the best ones apart, that they deal with it.

The hotel restaurant over looks the lake, our room over looked the lake, the terrace over looks the lake and if you want to look closer they have a lovely deck next to the lake that you can swim from. The location is excellent. You can swim, rent bikes, walk, get the little foot ferry or tack the cog train all within flat easy walking. It’s an easy drive from Salzburg airport (approx an hour). The hotel has a sauna and a solarium you can relax in. The surrounding countryside is breathtaking- picturesque mountains and lakes - it really is like being on the set of The Sound of Music! I’m would recommend to friends and family and we are planning to return. For something really special the hotel has a separate self contained room actually on the lake.

Nothing - it exceeded our expectations.

Lovely traditional property with a great view of the lake and very well located for the old cable car and ferry. It is a 5-10 minute walk into the town and is no hardship. Room was nicely furnished in an eclectic and traditional manner and our bathroom was slightly old fashioned but worked well. I believe other rooms have had their bathrooms modernised, but it was not a problem. Lovely breakfast with plenty of choice, both hot and cold and we had a good meal in the restaurant at night, which was also good value. Had a lovely sauna area with a relaxation room which we made use of one afternoon. Staff were always helpful and friendly and we would certainly stay here again.

Bathroom slightly old fashioned but really not much else to complain about.

This is a fantastically well run hotel in a beautiful location on the lakeside. The staff were fantastic, helpful and nothing was too much trouble. Great breakfast and dinner menu.

The rooms are not air conditioned which given daily temperatures up to 30 degrees meant for hot nights. Even in absence of this maybe some ceiling or floor fans just to keep air circulating would have helped.
