Lovely hotel and excellent, friendly staff. Great position in city centre

No one informed us that parking arrangements involved purchasing an £8 24-hour ticket from hotel reception each day. As my husband said, this needs to be very clear at the outset. I asked for parking as a necessary facility, but I do not consider paying for parking and being reliant on a space being available in the car park, as parking as a facility. The vegetarian breakfast could do with having two sausages rather than one, please. Meat eaters get sausage and bacon. We should have two to compensate. Other than that, we have no complaints at all. A lovely hotel with very polite and friendly staff.

I had a comfortable and enjoyable short stay at the Chapter House whilst visiting Salisbury. I was able to check in half an hour early which was much appreciated. The hotel is centrally located, within walking distance of the Cathedral, city centre and railway station. My room faced onto the main road but secondary glazing helped to reduce traffic noise. It was spotlessly clean and contained all I needed for a comfortable two night stay. The bathroom was particularly spacious with a beautiful roll topped bath. Due to the historic nature of the hotel, there were low beams to be avoided in the bedroom and the stairs were uneven but this all added to the charm of the hotel.

A quirky old building with the uneven stairs and floors which you might expect. We had a very spacious room but the small leaded light windows and dark wood panelling made the room very dark even with the lights on. The shower room was bright and modern. I had fresh fruit salad with yoghurt, and eggs and avocado on toast for breakfast - all very nice. Very close to the cathedral and town centre.

There’s no reception and no obvious entrance. You just have to find someone to check you in at the bar. There’s no onsite parking (as expected) and nowhere easy to drop off luggage/passengers before parking. Some biscuits in the room would be nice.

We thoroughly enjoyed our one night stay at the chapter house while visiting Salisbury. We loved the unique character of the building, which admittedly may not be to everyone’s liking, but which we found fascinating. The links to its historic past are unmistakable, from the slanting ceilings and exposed beams in the rooms, to the wonky, uneven stairs and hallway floors that you must navigate to reach the upper floors. The rooms themselves are wonderfully refurbished and modern, with lovely facilities and very comfortable beds. Additionally, the location is absolutely ideal for a visit to Salisbury Cathedral— a three minute walk away – and provides a great base for day trips to surrounding sites such as Avebury or Stonehenge. The entrance and reception for the hotel is through the restaurant, which was a little confusing at first as we arrived while the Saturday lunch crowd was still going strong. Our Saturday evening dinner in the Chapter House restaurant was excellent, with wonderful aged steaks and very attentive service; and breakfast the following morning was quite good as well. We enjoyed the restaurant so much that we returned for the Sunday carvery lunch after services at the cathedral. An additional plus was the discount 24 hour voucher for parking at the municipal car park around the corner from the hotel, available on request as you check in. Also, the hotel was very good about holding our luggage after checkout until our departure in the mid afternoon. Throughout our stay, the attention and service we received from the staff was superb.

Nothing to dislike.

The staff were excellent .They welcomed us and put our luggage in the room before checkin time. The room was clean and had everything you could want for a short stay. The breakfast was excellent.I had a range of fresh fruit, yoghurt and a cooked breakfast. We had Sunday carvery which was excellent, servings were generous.

Our room ,number 10 , was overlooking the bin area and the kitchen.Unfortunately ,we could hear the very noisy fan from the kitchen in our room.As my husband needed to rest during the evening it wasn't a relaxing environment. It would be ideal for a couple who don't return to the room until the fan is switched off at 11pm. The carpet was quite worn and had an obvious stain.

Nice big room at reasonable price, great steak and nice bar. breakfast was something of a feast for the cooked option.

Thermostat on the shower not good - kept going too hot, so reported that and they said it would be fixed. Parking was easy with a car park around the corner but wish there was better info on the website. Paid with MiPermit app remotely for 8-9am til I checked out.. I wanted to stay again 2 weeks later and the prices have sky rocketed for Easter - cant justify staying again at that ££ level for business just now, which is a shame as I would have booked a table for dinner 4 guests..

Booked two rooms for a friend and myself. We were upgraded to executive rooms due to work being needed in one of the others. These rooms were spectacular: very spacious, with comfortable furnishings, beautiful decor, and excellent large bathrooms. One room was bright and luxuriously elegant, while the other had full dark wood wall paneling and felt like you had gone back in time to an Elizabethan manor house - but with all the comforts of the 21st century. The building is very old - parts of it 13th century, Chris told me - joining different original structures together with a delightful maze of hallways and corners and short curving flights of steps that really bring home how historic it is. All of it is beautifully restored/maintained/decorated. Chris and the other staff we encountered were very helpful and clearly care about making the hotel and restaurant top-notch for guests. The included cooked-to-order breakfast was excellent, as was dinner the night we arrived. Its location right across the street from the entrance to the cathedral grounds was incredibly convenient for us, as the main focus of our too-brief stop in Salisbury was to see the cathedral and especially the Magna Carta. Parking is a little awkward being a block or so away, but they provided a voucher to reduce the cost and there were no problems finding it or getting a space. This hotel is truly outstanding and an incredible find. I would definitely stay again, hopefully for longer. Thank you!

We were greeted by Stefan on arrival , he carried my case to the room and showed us where everything was. The room had a roll top bath in it, The bathroom had a great shower, There were plenty of tea, coffee etc. plus two bottles of water You pre order Breakfast for the next day which saves any waste. The breakfast had a good selection on the buffet and the cooked breakfast was perfect. We were greeted by Louis for Breakfast who was very helpful. Stefan kindly booked us a table for supper. The steak was amazing. The location is brilliant for Salisbury Cathedral. It is a beautiful Tudor Building.

Some of the paint work is a little bit tired but not surprising as the place was totally booked up and is 800 years old.

The Chapter House is a remarkable wobbly old hotel. I would hate to decorate it as there is not a square wall in the place. Having said that it is wonderful. The staff were friendly, the housekeeping was first class , the rooms were emaculate. The food was first class we had Christmas dinner there and it was excellent quality and huge. The location was also perfect close to the cathedral and town.

Having said all of the good stuff above, the Chapterhouse could really benefit from a resident's lounge. There is no where to chill out other than your room and downstairs is always full with patrons as it is a very popular restaurant. The private dining room would be my suggestion.

The room was spacious and had a separate sitting area. The king sized bed was extremely comfortable and the room was generally well appointed. We ate dinner in the restaurant which was very busy but the food was good (and portions huge!) and we also had breakfast the following morning which was also very good. The location was perfect for our stay as we wanted to visit the Cathedral - just over the road - and other walkable locations. The hotel didn't have their own parking area but we bought a greatly reduced, price wise, voucher from them for 24 hour parking in an open air car park just round the corner which was fine.

Nothing. The staff seemed rushed off their feet but were still very polite and helpful.
