The hotel is brandnew, well located in a sidestreet. It is modern with a colonial touch. Our room was facing the pool and garden, which is a charming oasis. The staff is very friendly and helpful.

Our terrace was not well protected from the rain, although there was a small roof. The breakfast room lacks the charm you find in the rest of the hotel, and is much too cold. The choice at breakfast was very limited.

Wow! What can I say? There are not enough superlatives to do justice to this property. I would love to keep the secret of this wonderful place all to myself but that would be unfair to all those whose amazing efforts have brought this hotel to such an outstanding level. We have travelled throughout the UK, USA, Europe and extensively in SE Asia and we have never visited a better property than the Souphattra Heritage Hotel. The combination of a sympathetic heritage design, understated elegance and fine attention to detail, make this a 5 star + hotel. Everything is designed to offer luxury and privacy. From the marble and brass bathroom thyme to the old fashioned herring bone tiling techniques, it all comes together to create an amazing tasteful environment. The rooms are bright airy and spacious with high quality bedding and accessories. The facilities include a coffee shop, two restaurants, spa and beautiful pool area. All these areas continue to provide the same understated elegance common to the entire property. The staff all maintain the highest standards of professionalism while remaining engaging and friendly. Special thanks must go to Nouna, Nounee and Tookta who made our evenings at the bar such an entertaining and enlightening experience. My number one choice of hotel – ANYWHERE!!!! Everything was perfect.

The most clean hotel ever - literally nothing could have been cleaner - and I’m a person to notice if something is not spotless. This passed all my tests. Great location.

The rooms were smaller than I expected - said it was 31m squared but wasn’t as big as other 30+ rooms I’ve stayed in. The breakfast was mostly order and not all staff had been trained so couldn’t understand - management should ensure staff are trained and helped. It’s not the staff, it’s always the management. The staff would try to be as helpful as they could. The hotel needs a little bit more personality. Staff need to be allowed to speak with guests. Train your staff then trust them. Restaurant is pricey as are other services. Still possibly the best place to stay in Vientiane though.

I didn't like the 100usd cash deposit requirement Since it was my last stop on my travels and my home country doesn't use us dollars it left me with some useless foreign currency cash, and I don't think it's necessary for a high end hotel personally

We were upgraded to a lovely room, with a terrace onto the pool, which was great. The rooms were pristine and very comfortable. The pool area was pleasant and the reception staff were very welcoming and helpful. For a great dining experience, they have an upmarket Chinese restaurant just outside the hotel, which really has exquisite dumplings, and other foods, that we have never encountered before, as well as a good wine list.

Unfortunately, apart from the reception staff, nobody spoke any English and so communication was very limited, even with the restaurant staff. I recommend that you do not eat at the main restaurant if there are more then 4 or so people there , as they have a small kitchen and I think only 2 cooks. We had the experience where we arrived and sat down and there was one other table of 14 people, it took an hour for us to be served and that was after my wife stormed into the kitchen, after multiple assurances that we would be served in 5 minutes, to demand we be served. Also as they did not understand us we had to ask for a glass of wine 4 times and finally the manager intervened (who spoke good English) and offered us his apologies and the wine on the house.

A new, exceptionally well appointed boutique hotel centrally located in downtown (if there is such a place) Vientiane. Very well priced for what it is so strongly recommend it - until the price gets hiked up! Also they own the new Chinese restaurant over the road which also was exceptional - some of the most interesting dim sum I have ever had.

A few slight issues with communications with the staff still being trained. But their attitude was great and everything easily worked out. Really no major issues with this gem.

Beautiful throughout. Breakfast was excellent. Room was a good size. Bed was comfortable. Staff were great. Communication was also excellent. Crib for our baby was ready in the room.

Only a minor thing.. it was quite dangerous with a baby because all the rails on the balcony and outside rails had large gaps. This meant we couldn’t use the beautiful balcony.

Vientiane during festival time is hot and loud, but the Souphattra was cool, quiet, blissfully sound insulated. Yet it was so close to the action that if we’d wanted to join in the crazy-loud market hawkers, rather than lay by the pool or read on our own day bed, we could’ve - except we didn’t. The room and balcony suite we had was just too good.

Everything was wonderful: exceptionally comfortable room, beautiful surroundings, peaceful location, amazing balcony/patio, wonderful staff, great breakfast. Would recommend to everyone, and I hope to return one day.

If I had to be very picky, there should be a full length mirror in the room (there is ample space), and perhaps a little more shelf space in the bathroom (again there is space)

The manager and staff are great. Very helpful and nice. The grounds of the property are fantastic. The high tea is a nice touch. I cannot say enough nice things about this property. From the spacious room to the small touches, like cotton rounds and Q-tips to the Dyson hair dryer, every detail is well thought out.
