Wonderful hot spring inside large natural cave. Buffet dinner and breakfast with plenty of good quality food and free wines & beer.

For booking of this hotel, there should be a reminder that rented car are not allow to drive there directly and needed to park at their carpark far from the hotel ( and I have to ask at the pier where the car park is). They have shuttle mini-bus to take you and the luggage to hotel, or you can choose to stop at pier and take the funny turtle ferry. If I know before hand, it will save my time to drive to that carpark directly and pack a handy bag for one night instead of taking all our 4 person luggage with us to get on the minibus.

The staff was very nice at this hotel and the typical japanese room was an interesting experience!! I loved the little things the hotel did to make you feel taken care of such as providing free cold juice all day long, free ice cream in the afternoon and soup in the evening!!

It did not have too many amenities and no direct access to the beach. It did not offer beach towels or rental of chairs, mats or beach umbrellas which made it a bit challenging for international tourists.

The hospitality at Musashi was amazing. We were greeted in a lounge room and offered local plum juice, while staff checked us in and talked through the amenities, how to find our room etc. There are great amenities available including free ice-cream snacks, gorgeous dressing gowns for use in the rooms, walking around the hotel etc. We weren't brave enough to try the onsen (prudish westerners we are!) but we saw lots of people coming and going and looking very relaxed.

The interior has a bit of a dated feel to it - carpets, wallpapers, design choices etc feel 20-30 years old. It didn't bother me at all - the place felt timeless and classic.

The room had a great ocean view, you could watch the sun setting by the beach. The room was very spacious for our family of 5. Separate bathroom and toilet was very convenient. The hot spring was awesome, very big with 2 levels. Free ice cream after a hot bath was very enjoyable. The buffet breakfast and dinner was very good, food was great & had lots of variety to choose from.

Maybe because it was the Spring break along with Easter, there were a lot of people in the hotel, a bit too crowded, especially during dinner time, the restaurant was packed with people.

The room was clean and spacious. The amenities were great! My children enjoyed playing table tennis at the hotel and having some free ice cream after :D There are several very clean onsen options indoor, open air, large onsen and low temperature. They are open through the night - I went at midnight and it was empty, I had the onsen to myself :) Hotel is close to several restaurants and very close to beach.

The check in was busy, the process was unusual. Parking was not on site.

The hotel staffs were very welcoming and nice to us, their Omotenashi( service) was amazing and made us feel we are on vacations. There is English speaking staffs who were very accommodating and patient with us( visitors from USA). Dinner and breakfast buffets s are tasty and nice, the food has ingredients card by the food so for us who do not eat pork for religious reasons was very helpful. I recommends staying with Musashi ryokan if you visit Shirahama.

Excellent location and excellent staff! Nice touch with the gift fans and choice of kimonos to wear around.

I would have preferred a later check out time instead of 10 am. But it was ok, we rested in the lounge areas.

Onsen and lounging area available on many floors

I stayed at Hanare Hototogisu 8th floor and the Wifi was very weak. Great if you want a digital detox, a little inconvenient if you wanted to get work done.

Very close to the beach and some convenience stores, very big Japanese style rooms! Very child friendly hotel. Spa area was pretty big as well :) Hot showers outside the hotel after the beaches are possible :)

- definitely a bit older, the carpets in the public areas need to be washed - no microwave for the guests in the whole hotel - WiFi is a bit rare in public areas and rooms

The service staffs were very helpful and polite. English speaking too. Room was spacious and toilets were very clean. Very comfortable futons and onsens were great! Location is next to beach and the bus stop is conveniently situated in front of the hotel. There’s 24 hour free flow drinks
