We really enjoyed our stay at Mookies. It's not fancy but it's a great friendly place to be at. The garden setting of the bungalows gave it a tropical getaway vibe, though global warming did affect it a little (but that's really not the fault of the property). The owner was very accommodating with our various request to upgrade rooms even if it meant us moving around a little over our 6 nights. What we found a plus was that even though it was on the main road to the beach, it was set back sufficiently to not be able to hear the noise from the motorbikes or tuk tuks - though this light "traffic" was only an evening thing when those who stayed too far from Charlie's beach had to get transport there. The walk to the beach was only brief and it wasn't all that far to walk to the main town either if you wanted to - perhaps not at mid-day. We never used transport while on the island and managed to get everywhere on foot without killing ourselves. Personally, I would rather stay on the western side of the island and as pretty as the pictures are of Pearl beach, I think staying on the west side was much better due to its easy access to a good, sandy beach that had beach side stalls you could buy food and drinks from. Definitely a more happening beach. We stayed in both the air-conditioned and fan rooms at mookies. The fan room was fine at night (almost cold) but due to the heat wave, was on the warmer side during the day (but it was 40C outside). The beds were comfortable and we slept well. The bathroom could be a little better but we only used it for brief moments so it wasn't an issue. The restaurant served really good food and we had several meals there. The other accom options nearby were too close to the road and appeared to gather a lot of dust stirred up by traffic (not a sealed road and the drought made things worse). But what makes mookies a great place to stay is the hospitality you receive from the owner.

A brilliant place to spend a few days! It far exceeded our expectations and was excellent value for money (in comparison to other places of similar price in Thailand). We extended our stay for 3 nights we loved it so much. 5 minute drive from the town centre but a 5 minute walk from Charlie Beach which is the best beach on the island and where we spent most of our time.

Nothing! We never saw inside the other rooms but we did stay in a room with air conditioning so make sure you look at the room requirements before selecting your preferred choice!

Perfect place for relax. Bungalows are alocated in the garden so there are very quiet. Mookies is very close to Charlie Beach, perfect for swimming and sunsets. We changed our first bungalow for another with aircon (it was very hot in March), but the first one with bamboo walls was also very charming. The host was very helpfull - she helped us with transfer problem. We sincerely recommend Mookies Bungalows for a stay!

We had a great time at Mookies, the bungalow was perfect with a small balcony and a spacious interior. Everything was perfectly clean. The owner and all staff were super friendly and helped us booking transfers, tours and kayak. We also had a great massage at the property for the common prices.

When you book the owner will send you a message saying that you should buy big water bottles in town in order to reduce plastic on the island. I found that great, as this is exactly what we are trying to do. Nevertheless every room gets two small plastic bottles of water every day and the restaurant is using plastic straws in every drink. We went to town every day to fill up our water bottles at koh Mook hostel. I wish that the property would offer refill water for their guests (which can of course be charged) and really encourage people to avoid single use plastic. And please, stop using plastic straws, there are so many great alternatives these days!

2 minute stroll to the best beach on the island. wonderfully friendly staff. kitchen was able to accommodate my requirement for gluten-free food (i am celiac). I ate breakfast, lunch and dinner at the restaurant for each of 4 days, and did not get "glutened", thanks Mookies!!!

Beautiful bungalow set in beautiful gardens just a short walk from Charlie’s Beach. Wang was so welcoming and helpful. All the staff were so attentive and friendly to us and our daughters. The restaurant food was varied and delicious. We loved to watch the dogs play, and the birds and butterflies flying around us. The family air conditioned bungalow was excellent. Very comfortable beds, super bathroom, a bonus living area and fridge and a balcony with the most fantastic view. We also had a great boot trip with Mookies to the Emerald Cave and Koh Kradan. Would totally recommend a stay here. The island is amazing!

Mookie’s Bungalow A time capsule to simpler time. Nestled 5 mins away from Charlie beach. The name suits the place because the place & the team are most apt representation of Mookie people.Kind, generous, warm, very hardworking. The place is run by an all girls team, there is an hierarchy but you can see the bond within them. Their attention to detail is heart warming. For instance we attended the new year party, the ladies were kind enough to book our favourite seat, I am a vegetarian so they went out of their way to have those options for me. This place felt more like being invited to a loving family home than a commercial hotel. Lots of love to all the lovely people at Mookie’s bungalow. The landscaping is outstanding, beautiful banana trees, lush greenery & colourful shrubs.

Great location easy walking distance to Charlie beach . We had a wooden bungalow with fan and mosquito screens which was perfect . We could leave the balcony door open at night a got a lovely breeze . Our balcony over looked the jungle and we spent a couple of mornings just hanging out there. We saw monkeys and a big lizard . The Staff were all lovely and helpful. We also got two massages which were fantastic . The lady who did mine really knew what she was doing . We hired a motor bike for a couple of days so we could head into town .

The bed was a little hard for me .

The staff is so friendly and personable - we felt like a part of living family. Huge thanks to reception, cooks, maids and everyone who makes Mookies run smoothly, create comfortable atmosphere, organize tours, feed and smile at every guest. I don’t even want to tell the world about this hidden gem of a place, but wanted to thank the staff again for making our stay marvelous. Charlie beach is one of the best beaches in the world that will stay in our hearts forever and we will take that 20 hour flight from the US again to visit it. The bungalows are comfortable and cute - everything one need to sleep well, relax on the porch, take a hot (or cool) shower, etc. We were there in January and didn’t need the AC, tho in the hotter months it might be needed. The location is just 5 min walk thru the jungle to the beach - where you can find varios sitting options and umbrellas, great food and drink options, calm pristine waters for swimming, just a few boats, great lime cliffs on one side, amazing sunset, and a quiet bar at the end of the beach where people get together at night for a chat and a drink. No loud music, no water sports, no screaming children - Just perfection!

It’s absolutely perfect!

Mookies is a perfect place to stay for a relaxing island hideaway; it's only a 5-minute walk to Farang Beach (Charlie Beach) and situated at the more quiet part of the island. Nonetheless, it's only a 30-minute walk (or 10 minute ride by taxi) to Koh Mook's 'busier area'. The staff is super kind and helpful and they made sure that our 5-day stay was carefree and very enjoyable. They arranged a hassle free private transfer from Trang Airport and even made sure that a car seat for our 6-month old son was available during the car ride to the pier. We also really loved the in-house Thai massage parlour, were we enjoyed high quality Thai massages each day of our stay. The bungalows are basic, but you have everything you need for a comfortable stay on Koh Mook!

We liked everything about Mookies, so we only have some feedback for some small improvements. Although Mookies is very easy to reach by phone and Whatsapp, the response time through Booking.com messenger/e-mail could be improved. It would also be more convenient if there was a possibility to indicate a cleaning request directly from the room, as it sometimes wasn't clear for us when the room would exactly be cleaned.
