Wonderful onsite managers .... A special thank you to DANNY and CHRISTIAN for your friendly yet unobtrusive hospitality! (You make a good stay great). Altogether a fitting and memorable end to my 2-week Hadrian's Wall / Coast-to-coast walk across England. This place is characterful, very clean and comfortable, if somewhat quaint and remote. Could be perfect if you seek peace or inspiration.
Only the fact that I couldn't stay here longer!

This is a B+B in a fabulous location, perfect for travelling Hadrian's Wall on cycle or foot. (Safe storage for any bikes). There are RSPB sites close by too. A great place for walks in nature. The hotel is going through a bit of renovation but that didn't impact on my stay. It's not a fancy place, I'm sure some would be disappointed, but it's clean, in a great location, value for money and the host is very welcoming.

Large room with a double and single bed, lovely location looking out onto the Solway Firth. Peaceful. Great value for money with breakfast included. Very helpful and responsive staff.

We booked a double room in the Hope & Anchor and stayed in the Hadrian room. It was as you would expect from rooms above a (sadly not currently in use)pub, comfy bed and clean linens, albiet a bit cold- we luckily had two beds in the room so doubled up on the duvet front! We parked right in front of the hotel and it was very quiet at night. The breakfast is a help-yourself situation of toast, croissants, jam, and some fruits and cereals. We went for a nice long run around the Glasson Moss Nature Reserve in the morning which was wonderful! Really great value for money, we had a perfectly nice stay! The Kings Arm Inn down the road (serves food til 8pm) does a mean cumberland sausage!
Check in instructions could use clarification. Although we had messaged in advance to confirm arrival time, we rang the doorbell several times before the owner rang me to let me know someone would be with us soon. We then waited outside for another 15 mins before the manager let us in.

Very interesting area of North West England at the Western end of Hadrians Wall. A fascinating and quite unique area with lots of history. Very quiet accommodation, welcomed dogs. All very clean and tidy.
Slight issue was draught from bedroom window, even though there was secondary glazing. It was a particularly cold night with wind blowing quite strongly. Room could perhaps have benefitted from longer and thicker curtains. Otherwise no problems

The venue was a little isolated, but this is perfect if you are looking for a walking holiday in the area. The village itself is very quiet and this place used to be a working pub, but now it doesn't appear to be, which means there is little in the village itself, except a few houses and a bowling club
It was an old building and the floorboards were a little creaky, but otherwise everything was fine

My Mum and I had a lovely overnight stay at the Hope & Anchor. The accommodation is clean, homely and welcoming. I would ignore all the other negative reviews as they are completely unfair on the place and its owner. The location is beautiful and our room had an impressive sea view. I would give the accommodation 9/10 based on the price. I would certainly return in the summer months and enjoy a beer in the bar. A fantastic place all in all.

Our dog friendly room was nice and cosy. A little bit of chilly weather was not a problem, there was heating on and aditional heaters provided. The location was perfect for walking and nature observation. The staff was friendly, helpful and provided a lot of relevant information and stories.
We were really sorry we did not listen to a good advice about the best fish and chips near by. :)
