Everything about this hotel was really good, even though they did not serve dinner. Alison recommended a couple of places to eat and we chose The Station in Kirkpatrick Fleming, which was a short drive from the hotel. The evening was spent in the lounge of the hotel, where you can sit with other guests for a chat, listen to music and/or play board games etc. The charges for the over night stay - B&B and the bar were very reasonable and Alison made us feel very welcome. Her breakfast was substantial and very tasty, with a good option of choices.
The parking area could have been a bit better, but we know she is working on this.

The landlady was really, really lovely. We had a very difficult trip up from our home to her B&B, our arrival time getting later and later as each delay was encountered - yet she was happy enough to wait longer for our eventual arrival. And then she recommended a really good place to eat (at short notice) - even telephoning ahead for us to make sure there was a table available. The room itself was very spacious, and the bed incredibly comfortable. Slept like a baby. As for breakfast - what a feast! Well-cooked and a generous helping of everything that makes a Scottish breakfast.

Very welcoming host Alison who met us upon arrival and showed us around. Enclosed, secure garden for our dog. We had a couple of "night caps" in the bar that evening, joined by Alison, and we had a great chat and many laughs which made us feel very welcome. Incredible breakfast the next morning, freshly cooked and to order!
Nothing in the village so we had to drive to nearest bars/restaurants - but Alison gave us some great recommendations for dog friendly restaurants nearby

This was our second time staying here. Alison, the host, was wonderful. Nothing was too much trouble. She recommended places to eat when we arrived, but offered for us to get a takeaway and use her facilities, which suited us perfectly after a very long drive. The room was clean and spacious, and the bed was very comfortable. The place was very dog-friendly with the resident dog being so lovely and calm. The enclosed garden was perfect for dogs and easy to access. The breakfast was phenomenal! The whole stay was superb value for money and was ideal for a stop off on our way to Scotland.

The Host Alison went out of her way to make everything just so. Bought in filter decaffeinated coffee and oat milk in for my husband. Works totally on her own. Breakfast was superb and delicious. Room spotless and very comfortable. Nothing was to much trouble. Hot chocolate drinks also in room and a chocolate tunnicks tea cake in room. Mugs and glasses with a bottle of water too. Shower very clean with shampoo and conditioner. In a quiet hamlet and room overlooked the road but very little traffic. Etc etc etc
There was nothing we didn’t like.

Alison, the host, was very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble throughout my stay. I had a huge double bedroom with a couple of chairs to use, fridge, kettle, great hot shower & all the toiletries you need. The breakfast was lovely, freshly made fruit salad, choice of cereals & fruit juice and a great selection for a cooked breakfast. It's very refreshing to go somewhere so super dog friendly too with a resident pooch for mine to play with! There is an enclosed garden for peace of mind and ample parking behind the property. I will definitely look to go back as I used my stay on this occasion as a halfway stopover travelling further north.
This is not a criticism at all as I was told there was no evening meals available and it really wasn't a problem as I knew to bring something with me. There is nothing in walking distance so just something to bear in mind if you're visiting but the breakfast will see you right.

We have stayed at The Village Inn a few times now. Alison as always the perfect host, always friendly and welcoming and happy to help. Accommodation is spotlessly clean, warm, comfortable and well furnished with good sized bedrooms. , Tea coffee biscuits water provided in the room and plenty of toiletries provided too. Breakfast is exceptional with plenty of choices including cereal, fruit, toast and full cooked breakfast, nothing is too much trouble. Parking is available in front of car park at the back of the building. I have no hesitation in recommending and will definitely be staying here again.

It was easy to find and Alison gave us a warm welcome. Parking was behind the building. The room was clean and comfortable with beautiful views from both windows and tea/coffee making facilities. The bed was king size and extremely comfortable. Lots of toiletries in the bathroom. The breakfast was huge and not for the faint-hearted although Alison takes your order the night before so you can choose however much you want. I would recommend The Village Inn, you get a warm welcome and a homely feel to your stay.

A superb overnight stop off at the wonderful Village Inn. Communication from the owner was superb and my warm welcome equally so! My room was lovely and the bed was so comfortable, I had a fantastic nights sleep - which is unusual when I am travelling on my own. Breakfast was ordered upon arrival and everything was prepared and ready at the time specified ...my porridge was great! Will absolutley be staying again when I am on my way up North.
Nothing, a fantastic place to stay

Alison the owner was a fantastic host. From the minute we arrived she made us feel really welcome. It was a home from home experience. The breakfasts were fab and set us up for the day. Would highly recommend this hidden gem to everyone especially if you’re travelling with a dog. We will definitely be back and I will tell everyone about this place. Thanks for a great few days 👍🏼👍🏼
Nothing, everything was great. Had everything we needed 👍🏼
