We have stayed a couple of times and the hotel is very nice and welcoming staff friendly ,the food is okay .

On this occasion, in the evening, because of some large parties, we felt the service was not their usual standard we had our starter and main meal, then forgotten about the, staff were busy clearing up and seem to ignore us after this we were not offered sweet menu or asked if we need more drinks, , the restaurant was cold ,we did hear another guest asking to turn the air condition down but was told the staff was hot , this said it would not put us off staying again I just think they may need more staff .

Fantastic hotel that perhaps is one need of a bit of updating in some areas, as they look worn and tired, but considering its popularity wear and tear is going to take its toll. Rooms were lovey and cosy with a comfy bed, tea and coffee making facilities and en suite bathroom. The carpet could’ve down with being replaced though, the hairdryer wasn’t that powerful and neither was the shower, sadly, but these are the only things that let it down, hence I’ve taken 1 star off, because these little things could be quickly remedied and bring the hotel up to a much higher standard. Fantastic bar on site and catering facilities.

The location was good: quiet but close to Gretna Green attractions and handy for motorway. Breakfast was good and the bedroom was very comfortable and well furnished. Excellent mattress.

At times, the staff seemed to be stretched and struggling to cope with numbers. We were allocated a dinner table and then offered another. We ordered dinner but were then told one plate was not available. Later our dessert orders were forgotten completely until we told a staff member. We were offered a free course and free drinks by way of apology which we were happy to accept. However staff were at all times helpful and courteous despite the lapses.

The staff were lovely and it was very quiet but easy access to motorway. Could hear cars but didn't bother me and window was open. There was a lot of dust on 1 bedside table and a clump of hair on a pillow that wasn't great. Not a fan of towels being placed on the runner on bed that is likely to not get cleaned. And cushions on pillows that will have been on the floor. But generally other than that nice and clean in bathroom and good size shower. Breakfast was OK.

I understand cushions add to decor but they are non likely clean and are then placed on pillows. Same as towels on runner. Just double check for dust and clumps of hair especially in and around the bed.

Was a great place to stay, and we were very lucky to get a room as our original accommodation was cancelled less than a couple of weeks out from our stay Was lovely to see happy brides and grooms every day. Great breakfast each day. Great F.O.H team. Had to ask for a fan as there was no air con, and the room was hot and stuffy. Fan was given very easily, no problems. Our room had an opening window that didn't open. Called maintenance, and the latch was replaced lickidy quick. Well done Team maintenance, the chappie was very kind.

Decor is tired, but that is about it

Virtually everything was good! The check-in staff were exceptional, taking our luggage without being asked and providing extras like milk, sugar, extra teabags and chocolate drinks and biscuits. Nothing was too much for them. The room was clean and well equipped. We had a downstairs room with a patio, complete with table and chairs. Perfect to chill out on when the sun shone- which it did quite often! The cleaner checked that all was fine with us, offering to change towels if we needed to. She also restocked the tea, biscuits, etc.! Breakfast was served in the lovely dining room and had a lovely selection of cereals, fruit, yoghurt, cooked breakfast items, toast and similar items, tea and coffees. They also offered freshly made porridge and staff were very helpful.

If I had to find a problem, it would be car parking. We had events to go to, so by the time we got back in the evenings, the main carpark was always full with wedding guests, etc. I therefore had to park in the overflow area which was very rundown. It badly needs upgrading, but only a few of us unfortunates had to use it.

Lovely old building, tasteful decor. Plenty of parking, just off the M6, although you can’t hear it from the hotel. Very busy wedding venue. Huge bed & very comfy, nice shortbread & bottle of water. The staff were all very friendly, reception booked me into the dinning room, but the dinning staff had written the booking in for the wrong evening, but the staff in charge of the seating plan sorted it all out for me. The food was beautiful & very reasonably priced , you could taste the butter in the buttery mash! Breakfast was fine too, help yourself buffet style.

Only a very slight niggle, black mold in the grout in the shower.

Staff are very friendly and welcoming, always attentive. Room was very clean, well presented and comfortable. Plenty of tea/coffee etc and quality toiletries. We ate in the restaurant in the evening, food was lovely, well presented and hot. Very reasonable prices. Good choices for breakfast. Would definitely recommend.

Everything was good, but just one criticism. The cooked breakfast choices were excellent but quality was not as good as it has been on previous visits, sausages and haggis were very 'undercooked' . We went for breakfast later as there had been a coach party and we waited till it was quieter, but felt the hot choices could have been hotter.

We had an amazing stay at this hotel, which served as the perfect midway stop between England and Scotland. The location was quiet and relaxing, ideal for a restful break during our journey. The highlight was the beautiful garden, which added a lovely, peaceful atmosphere to the property. Everything was clean and well-kept, making for a comfortable and enjoyable experience overall.

The hotel is a bit old, but overall it was comfortable. One thing to note is that there’s no laundry service available (at least none was mentioned or offered during our stay), so travellers planning a longer trip might want to keep that in mind. Also, the carpet in the room could benefit from a deep cleaning.

Immaculately clean and tidy. Modern fittings. Huge bed. A nice quiet setting within Gretna Green. Love Gretna Green and have an interest in its history … got married in the Old Blacksmiths Shop and as I’m a direct descendent of the Gretna Green Anvil Priest’s: David Lang 1755-1827 (my 5x great grandfather) and Simon Lang 1790-1872 (my 4x great grandfather) … would have been great to have access to more history of this lovely old building.

Toilet windows to room 103 fitted in the bedroom. Have stopped in accommodation previously where the view is very limited. Would prefer to have the option just to close the curtains/blinds and not to have that option taken away and left feeling a little claustrophobic inside an enclosed small space (… although a nice small space 😉).
