Just a lovely hotel in a beautiful area. The staff were exceptional, very helpful and so pleasant, the domestic went over and above my expectations, the room was spotless and very comfortable with a chair and table as well, nice and spacious. I was amazed how spotless the streets in the area are, not a scrap of paper or rubbish anywhere. Felt safe and thoroughly enjoyed my stay, will definitely stay there again.

The only complaint I have was the cost of the food, although the chicken salad was delicious, it cost £14.00 which is very dear for a salad.

We stopped here as part of a bike packing trip. It was really helpful to have somewhere secure to store the bikes overnight. The staff member who greeted us could not have been more welcoming and helpful - just what we needed after a long day of riding. Our room (4), although quite compact, was incredibly clean and very comfortable. We initially worried that we might be troubled by road noise as our room was on the front of the hotel, facing the main road. However, although we could hear the traffic once we were up and about in the morning, we were not disturbed at all overnight. A super and very useful feature was the usb multi socket, allowing to charge multiple items at the same time. The bathroom, which was quite spacious and very clean, had a super powerful shower over the bath with an instant and plentiful supply of hot water. We ate our evening meal in the bar, which is a pleasant space. Again, the staff members on duty were really friendly. The food was hearty and very tasty. Breakfast was served in the dining room and there was a good choice of fruit, cereals, yoghurts and juices on the buffet table. The cooked breakfast was delicious and the ingredients were obviously very good quality. We would definitely stay here again if we were touring in the area.

We hesitate to mention this as we didn’t say anything to staff at the time, who may have been able to help us. We could not open the bedroom window which meant the room got quite stuffy.

The staff were all very friendly and helpful. They provided me with a meal even though they had finished serving for the evening. They also provide ear plugs to counter the noise from the road traffic at night. This is caused by the ever increasing number of timber lorries bombing up and down the country roads (and certainly not at 20mph in the town). This is not the hotel's fault, but a caution to visitors expecting solitude.

The morning coffee wasn't great. Could survive with fewer cussions on the bed 🙂.

Good size room, excellent sleep on the one night’s stay. Reception staff replaced bathroom overhead bulb immediately upon reporting that it had expired - tall ceiling entailed the use of tall ladders!

A little unsettled leaving vehicle on street but there is a private car park - not easily found until one asked @ reception. The bed / bathroom were spotlessly clean but the area @ the TV/ workstation was covered in dust!

This was the second years we were stayed in this hotel . We had a lovely time started from the gentleman at the reception, Jackie in the restaurant. All the staff were friends, polite. The room was big, lovely view, clean and very comfortable bed, the bathroom the same. Hoping to go back next year.

We missed the dinner because the show at the theatre finished late. Hopefully next time we will try the manu.

Style, quality and finish of furnishings across the hotel is very good - good bed, bathroom, bar, dining room. Food is good, the choice, variety and quality up to expectations, breakfast a bit better than expected. Langholm is a good place to stay for the Borders if you travel from the South.

The automatic replies via Booking.com are confusing, unnecessary, could be worrying for some - I had ten generated, six for the incorrect dates, and luckily I contacted the hotel direct by email to check all was in order. Impressively I was rung back by the hotel and reassured. I couldn't book direct because I got the last room... which meant going through Bookings.com (a common issue) but I didn't get such a good rate despite a '10% discount', and my confirmations didn't say I got breakfast when they should have. Dining in the bar is sensible, if not as well appointed as the dining room. You can see it's a practical, if not ideal arrangement.

The staff were superb, very pleasant and helpful. The food was also excellent and the breakfast was perfect with a great choice of food. It is an old coaching in and unfortunately does not have a lift and as we are disabled, stairs were difficultbut the staff were very helpful with luggage etc.

Continental breakfast was a little limited.on the menu, it stated oat cakes etc & these were not available. Location was perfect. Rec'd a very warm welcome & staff were always pleasent

While the room faced the main road and was not double glazed, there was so little traffic our unfulfilled request for a quiet room turned out irrelevant. Idiosyncratic shower which needs minor repair.

The hotel is lovely. An older building which we love. But not run down. Very clean and presentable .Never visited Langholm before but we will be back and we will be booking a room at the Eskdale Hotel.
