We cannot speak highly enough of La Maison du Frêne - it is truly one of the most beautiful and memorable places we’ve ever stayed. From the moment we arrived, we were enchanted by the elegance, character and warmth of this extraordinary home. The interiors are a stunning blend of classic French charm and artistic flair, with our La Chapelle room thoughtfully curated and full of personality. Our room was spacious, immaculately clean and incredibly comfortable, with lovely touches that made us feel both pampered and at home. We loved the santons de provence that decorated our room. The location is perfect - right in the heart of Vence, just steps from the historic centre, yet peaceful and serene. Breakfasts were a delight, served with care and featuring fresh, local ingredients. We really enjoyed chatting to our hosts. What truly sets this place apart is the hospitality. The hosts are gracious, welcoming, and full of wonderful recommendations that helped us make the most of our time in the region. It's definitely worth visiting La Chapelle designed by Matisse. If you're looking for a place that combines style, comfort and genuine Provençal charm, La Maison du Frêne is an absolute gem. We can’t wait to return!

It was a real treat to spend two weeks at La Maison du Frêne, a jewel of a hotel situated in the heart of the picturesque town of Vence, with its maze of medieval streets and numerous cafés and restaurants. Our light and airy suite was spacious, extremely comfortable and furnished with panache. What makes this hotel so memorable, however, is the level of care and attention given to guests. Each morning as our delicious breakfast was served our hosts went out of their way to help us plan our programme for the day, enthusiastically suggesting places to visit and providing helpful maps and leaflets. They showed a genuine interest in hearing where guests had been and how they had enjoyed themselves. The patrons listened with patience and encouragement to our faltering French and were happy to to continue the conversation in English when we became tongue-tied. They ordered taxis for us and were thoughtful enough to provide us with a bottle of wine to share with visiting family, as well as a parting gift as a souvenir of our stay. A truly original, delightful, relaxing family-run hotel. Simply a must for anyone wishing to stay in the area.

Good position within walking distance to shops and restaurants. The property is wonderfully full of art works and objects collected by the owners. Our suite was large, we loved the bedroom / sitting room and separate large bathroom with a great shower. We appreciated the water left in the fridge. The decoration was gorgeous….. a great place to stay. The breakfast was good and the owners were friendly and helpful…..

Amazing stay. The rooms are spacious and very well equipped, very clean and cleaned every day, the decor is very original which is cool, and the customer service is more than fantastic. Thierry, Antoine and Guy have been amazing, guiding us through the area every morning to make sure our stay was as perfect as possible. There is parking nearby which was important for us. Overall, an absolutely perfect stay which we highly recommend!

The guest house is in a great location in the heart of the city. It is close to parking, the market, the old town, lots of restaurants and shops. The hosts are exceptional. Guy and Thierry are travelers also and make you feel at home immediately. They offer a great breakfast and every morning Thierry would make sure you had a good plan for the day. He was full of helpful information, tips about navigation, and his recommendations were excellent! Antoine ensured everything is smooth. He helps you with the little things, like mailing postcards; medium things like dinner reservations; and is so very kind that he went above and beyond to help us with a big thing when we had difficulty with our rental car. We wouldn't have made it without him - he is a terrific man you can count on! The house is ecclectically decorated, full of artwork; the suite is spacious, spotlessly clean, and has A/C.

This is an extraordinary place, distinctive, beautiful, with charming hosts. It is in an ideal location in the heart of Vence, within walking distance of most of what you will want to see. The owners are enthusiastic travelers and art collectors themselves and very knowledgeable if you are willing to seek their advice. The area is quiet and delightful. We have traveled extensively in France. This is one of the very best experiences we have had: true hospitality.

There is no elevator and considerable stairs. Of course, help is available for carting luggage up and down, but it just won't be accessible for some folks. No English language television channels, but we could live with that. Good wifi, and we picked up our news via laptop.

Friendly staff, responsive to questions, gave great suggestions for activities. The decor is super fun! An easy walk to anything we needed, parking, restaurants, bar, shopping… We hope to return soon!

Prime location in Vence, within close walking distance to restaurants, village and shops. Beautiful and stylish interior decoration, spacious apartment with separate lounge and bathroom / toilet. The interior makes one feel special.

Breakfast was included but wasn't quite to 'continental' standard: Apart from a croissant and small baguette to share, e.g. no ham/boiled egg, with pre-packed cheese (very small quantity but good quality), orange juice not freshly squeezed, etc. The room is facing onto a narrow, relatively busy one-way street so especially early evening the small scooters cause considerable noise if one opened the windows (as we did).

Loved the separate sitting room area in the rooms. Really enjoyed the art displayed both in the room and public areas. Breakfast is served by the owner in a fanatsic room full of more art - good breakfast with perfectly ripe fresh fruits. Plenty of places to eat nearby. Owners made some great recommendations for places to visit so we got the best from our stay. The highlight was visiting the Matisse Chapel in Vance (in the morning) to catch the best light.

We enjoyed everything - the perfect stay.
