Staff, food and location were amazing. Lovely atmosphere. Super friendly staff.

Unfortunately we were given a disabled room without being prewarmed . The bathroom was a big wet room. The sink was too low rusty handrails beside the shower. The floor was very slippery once wet. Constant noise from the sink kept us awake our whole stay. We informed reception but nothing was done. Room was very dusty and lots of cobwebs.

Lovely location and staff

Surprised by the service charge that was added to the bill for our rooms. I would have liked to have known in advance that it was expected that we pay that, as it was an extra cost we weren’t expecting and I’m not sure what it was for. Happy to pay service on meals of course, but I didn’t realise there was going to be an extra service charge on the actual room.

Good.

We did not anticipate having a wet room. There is nothing rrong with the room but despite our ages, mid 80s, we are fortunately not disabled. We have a walk in shower at home and prefer that as a facility. We felt that the hand basin in the room was inadequate for our requirements. We expressed these opinions to the owner as we left, not as a complaint but more as feedback. He explained the legal requirements he has to provide in relation to the wet room and told us that the hand basin is a safety feature for a guest if they were disabled in any way. We understood his explanation but our personal preference would have been a more convential type of room.

Good hotel, Excellent breakfast. Good dinner menu, though it is being simplified and is decent value. We have stayed here a few times, as it is convenient - and they are having a tough time to keep ahead of the competition. The bar walls are used as something of an art gallery, and the offerings need to be changed (some are old, some are painted to a recipe, and some of the sculpture is not quite good enough - and the prices are aspirational).

A couple of things showing their age (e.g. sheets, towels, some room fittings).

Breakfasts comprised fresh fruits and choice of yoghurts. The cooked breakfast in addition was an excellent menu and served quickly and thus always hot and with good helpings. The evening meals were again from a wide choice menu with some changes during the week. No need to dine out as this was cooking of a high and consistant standard. Staff were very welcoming and a credit to their hands-on proprietors. Nothing was too much trouble. The hotel displays much original artwork which is all available for sale; variety of techniques both as to painting and small/medium bronzes. All adds to a welcoming ambience,

Whilst there is lots of outdoor seating either on the lawn or under an extensive marquee (both to the rear) the inside lounge seating area is rather on the small side. If the weather had been wet might have been more of an issue but did not materially affect our stay.

It was such a delight to find The Kings Arms with its splendid rooms and bar in the beautiful Wiltshire village bordering Dorset, just a short drive from Sherborne with its magnificent Abbey, cafes, restaurants and high street with an eclectic collection of shops.

We thought that we were actually in Sherborne but it was a problem as you had everything at the Kings Arms for a comfortable stay including a restaurant.

The King's Arms is a wonderful place. It's very clean and comfortable. The room was lovely, the bed was very comfortable and the bathroom had a great walk in shower. Everything was super clean and smelling fresh. The breakfast was delicious, cooked to order with a lot of choice. They have the best freshly squeezed orange juice. We would definitely stay there again.

The room was very hot even with windows open.

I enjoyed my two-day weekend stay at The Kings Arms - a great location in a pretty village. The room was tastefully decorated, immaculate and comfortable. The staff were attentive and friendly. The breakfast menu is excellent. I ordered a Full English. An elderly couple went for kippers - they were delighted and said it reminded them of the old days. I would stay here again. Thank you!

Softer lighting in the bar at night would be a good touch.

Mine host and staff were very hospitable, helpful, knowledgable . Comfortable bed, large bathroom. Good choice on menu. Lunch & dinner was excellent. Good breakfast, plenty of good coffee.

Minor details; more shelving needed in bathroom, great walk-in shower but only rainfall showerhead and hand held spray. No bath mat, nowhere to hang towel when in shower.
