My wife and I loved how central The Edgewater was. We were a less than 5 minute walk from everything we wanted to do. The bed/pillows were so comfy, and we loved the layout of the room and bathroom. We also enjoyed that there are only 8 rooms here, and none of them share walls (as far as we could tell). We really only heard other people in the hallway one or two times. It made it feel like we had the whole place to ourselves!

Nothing that I didn’t like, really. There’s a community fridge, and it would’ve been nice to have at least a mini fridge in our room, but we didn’t hate that there wasn’t or anything.

The Edgewater is a beautiful boutique hotel in a fantastic location right across from the harbor and in the heart of Avalon. We were lucky to be in Room 1, with an amazing view of the beach, harbor, and main street goings on. Our room had a large beautiful vintage tiled bathroom, comfortable king bed, and an oceanside sitting area with sink and mini-fridge. One of us used a rollaway bed that also comfortable. Everything was spotless. The owner/manager was super kind, helpful and communicative. We hope to come back!

Fyi, there are 28 stairs to get into the hotel rooms. This was challenging but doable for my 97 yo mom. Also there is no luggage storage available. You'll need to use the storage facility at the ferry terminal.

It was excellent location. Beach front right near the pier. The owner was SUPER sweet and accommodating. They let us store our luggage in their lobby for free until check in. Check in starts at 3, but we were able to go to our room at 11:20am! Which was amazing because my Mom, me and daughter were tired. When we were checking out the owner helped us with our luggage and then had her husband drive us with our luggage to the Catalina Flyer Loading dock. They even provided towels for the beach front. Thank you for everything ❤💯

I just wish they had a elevator to their rooms upstairs. My Mother and I both have bad backs, so it was a little tough going up and down the stairs for us. But I understand they may not be able to have one installed.

When I initially booked the room for the weekend of the Catalina Marathon, I was just trying to find a convenient room that could act as a decent meeting spot for family that was running in the event. Much to my surprise, I checked in and was treated to Suite 1 which was far more than I was expecting. The view from the balcony was amazing, and the little kitchenette ended up being perfect for the couple days I was on Avalon.

The toilet seemed to operate with a less pressure than desired. Also, it's an East-facing room, so sunrises are a sight to behold, whether you like it or not. There are curtains that will shade the bed area, but there still is a 'doorway' to the balcony that is uncovered and the light will still get through.

Location is absolute perfection. The room was adorable and very clean. The communication was excellent. Even texting us to let us know our room would be available for early check in! Also, they weren’t stingy with the towels! Thank you!

Only one very small bit of feedback. The shared kitchen space was great but could have used either disposable cutlery or cutlery in general. I brought back leftovers and checked in the kitchen space no luck.

the location was perfect, i step out and see the beach, the pier, he shops, the restaurants, perfect.

prices... overall the prices of everything actually. i understand its a small community but we want to get away and be able to relax and not worry so much about having enough for the next day. the hotel was great tho. Sunday we saw fair prices for a boat tour, and Monday the prices doubled. not good, was no able to do that tour after all.

The cleaning personnel were very kind and helpful. It was easy to check in and out. The only issue was the shower had very low pressure. i am not sure if it was because we were on catalina or just this shower. I loved that it was on the main strip and convenient to get to from the ferry.

The only issue was the shower had very low pressure. i am not sure if it was because we were on catalina or just this shower. It was hard to celan the sand out of our hair with that water.

Great location by the water, very friendly and pleasant staff. Clean and modern bathrooms with nice amenities, comfortable bed. Overall very nice place to stay.

One of our rooms seems to have been recently remodeled and it smelled heavily of new wood off-gassing, which was a bothersome smell we could not get rid of and it was not pleasant to breathe it all night. It seems to be confined to just one room though. Some of the bars in the areas can play music quite loud which can be heard/felt in the rooms, but it didn't go on very late and our toddler wasn't kept awake by it.

Don't know if I understand the question.... we didn't have breakfast at the Edgewater, wasn't an option. We did have breakfast at the Cottage both mornings and it was great.

Need better signage, couldn't find the hotel at first. No ice and no vending machines. Trash trucks were very loud and went on for over 10 minutes. Couldn't figure out the TV, never did get anything to play. Appeared to be all subscription channels.

December 2024

everything was very clean and comfortable. Moreover, my instructions were followed perfectly regarding having a bottle of champagne on ice and a bouquet of flowers upon my wife’s arrival. We stayed on a yacht in Long Beach the night prior and I did the same thing and they had the flowers, but the wine was in the fridge. Just not the same effect. Thank you for making our 5th anniversary perfect.
