Really lovely hotel on arrival, in beautiful location in the Cairngorms just within walking distance of the town which was full of interesting shops, and within walking distance of the River Spey. We had a king size bed which was VERY comfortable, the room was spacious but rather tired, carpet was stained and generally decoration in pretty rough condition. The shower worked fine. We didn't find the hotel noisy. Breakfast room lovely and the breakfast exceeded expectations, plenty of lovely food in the buffet and plenty of choice on pastries, drinks, cereals etc and extremely good value for money. No issues with coach parties. Had a small issue with the room which was promptly and professionally dealt with by the Manager. Overall happy with our overnight stay. Parking no problem on the premises. Everything in the room you would need including ironing board, and good hospitality tray in room. Nice view of well tended and pretty garden.
Redecoration of the room and replacement carpet would be great.

The whole stay was perfect, the staff were friendly, invaluable, and polite. The single room was adequate for a one-night stay, as requested, ground floor, easy access, walk-in shower. It was spotlessly clean and the bed was very comfortable. The food was excellent and well presented. The staff kindly brought my breakfast choice from the buffet for me.
There wasn't a chair to sit on, and there was only one pillow; however, extra pillows were provided on request. I also had to ask for tea bags. The staff were friendly and very obliging; nothing was too much trouble

The room looked very fresh and clean. Spacious. Quiet. Bed was very comfy. There was lots to choose from at breakfast. The receptionist who checked us in couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. The outdoor seating was lovely. It was a warm evening and the bar man had no problems with us taking our drinks outside. He was also very friendly and happy to chat.
First of all, our stay was incredible value so any thoughts about improvment have to be taken from that point of view. The garden area at the front was untidy with cigarette ends. This is not the fault of the staff. Guests could be more considerate. The breakfast buffet caused some problems for guests - various hot items not available all the time. I actually think this is a good thing and reflects that food was fresh when it arrived. Possibly keeping an eye on supplies of some items and crockery would help. But, really, we absolutely enjoyed our stay and it was excellent value.

The staff was really accommodating, even though some elements of the property were older. We liked the more laid-back decor (tartan carpets, older presentation) because it had character, but there were steps and things that made the property challenging for my mom, who has a walker. The staff was super helpful in accommodating our needs, however. They changed the room to better accommodate my mom, and carried her down the steps when we needed help. The wifi was no good in the second room we had, but they gave us free coffee to balance it out.

Breakfast was a lovely experience. Really hot buffet selection and good array of choice. Staff throughout were professional and friendly. We felt well looked after. Loved that the hotel was so relaxing, pleasant, and such good value. The people couldn’t of been nicer or more helpful. What it lacks in 4 or 5 star quality it makes up for in being a good value and clean stay.
The hotel itself is obviously needing some TLC. Seemed to be a lot of warning tapes on stairs and all over. H&S gone daft as someone obviously been going round tutting. Some of the sofas in reception haven’t just seen better days but should be condemned. Brown ones for example. Sofas shouldn’t hurt your legs!

We were welcome we received was exceptional. So friendly, chatty, and willing to give us ideas for places to eat and visit in the area. The lady couldn’t have been better, and chatted away so cheerfully either my little boy. Thank you. The room was perfect too, with two single beds, and all we needed for our stay. It was very quiet, despite being quite busy with other guests. Grantown-on-Spey’s square and shopping area are a very short walk away. We were lucky enough to visit when there was a market on. We had the most wonderful time.

I would have rated this higher than 8/10, were it not for the reception at arrival. We had only just booked through booking.com and the receptionist told us it took about 10 mins to get through to her. Very strange as I already had the confirmation number, but 'no', we had to wait. While we were waiting, three! different guests/couples walked in ( 'Any availability?) booked on the spot and were swiftly helped with a big smile. When I tried again to get our room, I was told to sit down and wait. NO hurry for us. It took 30 mins! The hotel was fine, no noise from the street, friendly staff at breakfast and when we left the next morning, there were 3 different people sitting at reception who all waved nicely good bye. The hotel is a bit outdated, but we did not book top luxury. Great location for walks from there. The 11km walk partly through the wood along the river was great. Breakfast was good. We ate after the groups had left, so very quiet.

Good buffet full breakfast, evening meals with varied menu, well-presented and at reasonable cost. Excellent location at the edge of town within easy distance of High Street shops etc. Single room was well-apportioned and comfortable. Bed had the two best pillows I have had in any hotel. Adequate parking in front of hotel. Without exception, every member of staff was helpful, courteous and friendly.
Nothing from my view to dislike, in common with a lot of hotels of this size and age, some areas could do with a lick of new paint, but this is a very minor point and did not really detract from my overall experience

The staff were excellent. The food was very good. The bar was good but a little pricy. Music was at a good level and very pleasant. Our room was a good size with a lovely bay window and seats and table to look out into the gardens. Bed was comfy and furniture was good.
Our room..... It had a very bad odour. It was difficult to get the hot tap to dispense water. And what it did was cold even after letting it run for ages. The handle inside the shower was missing. The light had gone in the entrance to our room so couldn't see our clothes in the wardrobe.

The bed was very comfortable. We ate at a very good Indian food restaurant in town just 10 minutes walking from the hotel, which was a very pleasant surprise.
Walls are thin and you can easily hear other guests. Additionally, they could do something to avoid doors smashing. Overall, the hotel is in urgent need of a renovation that looks it has not happened in the last 40 years. Changing the carpet, renovating the bathrooms, etc that would make it a lot more cozier, and better value for the price. Breakfast was underwhelming, very bare. Even when an item was finished they did not replenish it.
