Lovely big room with beautiful views, everything was clean and staff were great. Food at dinner time was fantastic. Good central location to travel to Loch Garten, Aviemore, Loch Morlich and Nairn 👍 The Royal Scotsman was sitting outside the old fashioned style train station out the back, on one of the days which was pretty cool 🙂

Our room was quite hot (it had been warm weather in the days before, so think heat has built up) so could have done with a fan for the room, but at the same time we didn’t ask for one. I am sure the hotel would have obliged if we had. An iron in the room would have been useful.

Lovely building in a central position. Good food. Helpful staff. Excellent food. Complimentary non alcoholic drink and tablet provided in the lounge each evening.

Tired in some areas. Toilet roll holder broken. Requested a particular table in the restaurant for our second night. Staff reserved this then on the night was informed it was not available as already booked by someone else. Very busy and noisy in the restaurant on the second night as a coach tour in. Difficult to hear yourself speak. However the staff coped well with the extra workload and our meal was on time. I replied to their message on booking.com three times to request extra pillows and camomile tea in my room but had to ask again when I got there. Position of bath diagonally across bathroom window made it difficult to open and close blind for privacy. Only one plug behind my bedside table with lamp plugged in. An additional plug would be welcome.

Even though I arrived at 11:30pm, all of the staff I spoke to were very pleasant and very helpful. There was one young receptionist waiting for me and she was very helpful as there were no spaces left in the car parks, full marks to her for being so pleasant so late at night. Breakfast was very nice and a good selection of fresh fruit and hot breakfasts. Very promptly delivered and nicely presented.

The windows in the bedroom are very large, there were two very thick curtains which were white as were the lining. This meant that at 4am when daylight broke the room was bright as if a search light were pointing in it. A dark lining to the curtain could have prevented this. By 7am I gave up hiding under the duvet and got up. It is probably alright in winter but not summer.

Great big room, lovely patio area, looks onto a lush garden. Comfy bed though we aren’t fans of zipped mattresses, the bed was a great size. Breakfast was good though some items I wanted, were put out after I’d eaten. Great sized bathroom! Lovely and warm too as the temperature in the evening had dropped.

Evening meal wasn’t great, think it had been prepared earlier and then in the microwave? Expensive wine prices. Staff seemed rushed in the hotel.. If you have difficulty with stairs, or walking far, you’d find it a struggle due to no lift, also long walk to garden rooms. There is a short cut through the top car park but this has steps too. I’d urge the hotel to invest in a coffee machine ( at breakfast) which doesn’t take an age! Long queues are the result. The hotels Wi-Fi … slower than anywhere we have stayed…

I don't think I have ever stayed somewhere with such lovely staff. There is such a good feeling in this hotel - the staff are so friendly. Our bags were whisked off when we arrived and carried upstairs. It is obviously a popular hotel. We were here in winter but the restaurants were packed each night! There is masses of lovely Scottish art all over the walls, and a tartan style carpet. We had an absolutely wonderful holiday. Do have a ride on the nearby steam train - so fun! Also have a walk at the gorgeous nearby loch morlich, with its sandy beach. Lastly for a hike I recommend the circular walk to the green loch, loch uaine. I think this area is famous for birds too. Enjoy!

Clean and comfortable hotel, with nice decor. Tasty food. The Cullen skink was excellent, as was the steak - perfectly cooked. Plentiful, well cooked breakfast. Very dog friendly establishment. Pleasant staff who work hard at what they do. Room and bed were comfortable. It was quiet at night, which is a blessing, as many hotels are noisy. Good location for walks. We would certainly consider returning if in the area again.

Room was very snug. The room online is described as being 237 square feet - it most definitely wasn't that big, which is misleading. I used to run a B&B and find this unacceptable. I'm not sure how they get away with it tbh. However, it was quiet and only one night so we let it slide. Very expensive for dogs - a maximum of £10 is plenty. Again, I accepted dogs in my establishment but for £5, but hotels that use the excuse iof 'deep clean' just doesn't cut it. If you are cleaning properly it shouldn't make any difference.

The rooms were very nice. One had recently been renovated, the other was a little dated, but still very nice and comfortable. The food was very nice indeed, and we decided to eat dinner at the hotel each night. The staff really made all the difference, so helpful and went above and beyond with the children. All staff were good, but we especially mention Meg, Nicole, Abbie and Ollie. They did have a few issues in the kitchen one evening, which meant the food was delayed, but it was very nice when it did arrive. The location of the hotel is great, right next to the steam railway station and a lovely secret garden.

I think the speed of the food arriving at the table after ordering needs to be improved upon, and also maybe a few extra staff members for evening meal time so they are able to open the side rooms quicker to save on the wait. The food was amazing though, just not always good to have to wait so long, especially when the children are hungry after a busy day exploring.

This is a lovely hotel up in the Scottish Highlands. It sits right next to the railway station where the Strathspey Railway comes in should you be there on the days it does. All the staff are very friendly and polite and can't do enough for you. Our room was beautiful, large area and large bathroom. The bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was included and is served as a buffet style initially and then you order a cooked breakfast if you want one. There is also a restaurant in the hotel which is reasonably priced. The location was about 4 miles from Aviemore and we used it as a base to go on day trips.

nothing but just to make people aware there are no lifts to the room so you have to walk up steps (but we did get offered assistance to get our luggage up there) so for us it wasn't a problem.

We surprisingly got a suite which was a lovely touch! Bath and shower great as was the bed, pillows and bed linen. Breakfast offered a big choice and fresh fruit and seeds appreciated Hotel in a lovely village next to the iconic railway station. Staff all very pleasant and helpful. Near to lots of attractions.

Eggs not just coming runny as standard and having to wait while one was freshly done!! Breakfast staff not understanding 'over easy' when is a common phrase and Americans often in Scotland!

Clean, well decorated and fitted room. The building while old and packed with character is well maintained for the most part.

Shower cubicle was a tad small for a larger person (myself) the old wooden sash windows were a little worse for ware and let in cold air while closed. Probably need replacing at some time in the near future. Also the parking is limited to little more than a dozen spaces. It can be tricky finding a spot of you’re later than 4pm back from your daily exploring.
