There was a very nice feel about the place.

I felt that the desk staff could have a little more local knowledge and facts about facilities etc in the locality. (I asked three questions on various days and no details given on each). The slopping bedroom ceilings are too near the edge of the bed. I cracked my head on the edge and the cut bled for 20 minutes! Also, the key fobs for the rooms are way too large and square, making opening and turning the key hard. (I know it's only a minor point but when I was trying to be quiet early in the morning, the fob and key made for noise that I could have avoided). Otherwise, a good place and stay...

Hostel is incredible! I don't know what I expected but I was pleasantly surprised with every part of the facility. It's basically a hotel with dorm beds. The reception/bar area is lovely and has a great vibe, happy hour hsa some great Icelandic beers on tap for a good price (for Iceland). The kitchen has an incredible view to the black sand beach, and is well stocked with everything you need. The rooms are comfortable and the beds were great, the curtains over each bed block a lot of light, especially combined with the blinds on the windows. Is great to have the toilets and the showers separated, and the mirror and hairdryer area is a well thought out touch! Plenty of free parking onsite too :)

Only minor things, there wasn't a lot of seating in the kitchen, or at least it seemed to fill up very quickly. It would also be good to have a little shelf next to the power point above the bed.

We arrived in the evening and stayed overnight. It’s so close to one of the most popular black sand beach in Iceland and a 8 min drive into the town of Vik. The check in was simple and easy. We had one of the private rooms which was cozy and comfortable. The view from the windows are beautiful or the mountain. And the kitchen had everything you could need. The room was also pretty good sound proof (we could only hear the hallway door close at times). They also have a bar in lobby area. Thanks for a lovely stay

Only the bathrooms on 2nd floor had some issues. One shower doesn’t drain, and the other had a water temperature issue (went from scorching hot to cold off and on). But overall the facilities were still very clean

The location of the hotel was superb. It’s only short distance to Vik and the black sand beach. The central kitchen was spacious and equipped with every equipment I required for cooking. However, it was very crowded in the evening. The room was good, but it took me some time to lock the door due to unfamiliar locking method. One major drawback was that the heater in the room could not provide enough power to heat the entire room, including the bathroom, so it’s very cold during showering, especially when the ventilation fas was turned on. The sink was also too small, compared to the bathroom size.

Very pleaaant place to stay - individual rooms has a designer feel, clearly a lot of money spent on fixtures and fittings. Black beach suite rooms with own bathroom were v comfortable and had kettles and coffee machine, and fantastic views. Bar in the main building was welcoming and had a nice feel to chill for a bit.

No restaurant on site and miles from anywhere which means you need to drive to dinner, eat reheated fast food at the bar or self cater (which is inconvenient if you’re not in the main hostel building). Rooms in the main building (shared bathroom) are noisy. Rooms with en suite bathroom could really do with some glasses to drink water etc from.

Fantastic staff! Very thoughtful and proactively attentive, thanks for looking after us so well. The kitchen is the best equipped and lost well looked after shared kitchen in any hostel we've visited and the view was incredible! Beds comfy, room warm and cosy. Location for the black sands beach was fantastic. We had the chance to also stay in the apartments and they were incredible. It's a great spot and very easy to access off the ring road.

The room was quite warm as the window didn't open. Shared bathrooms got quiet wet so bring a pair of flip flops etc.

Nice luxurious atmosphere, big open windows to admire the fantastic view. There is a luxurious black theme throughout the interior design. The kitchen was well designed for many people to cook. The place smelled great in the morning when the bar was baking breakfast foods.

One of the employees liked to play a particular piano song of 30 seconds on repeat for multiple days straight. They use that as a torture technique don’t they? After a while we got used to it. Moving in view of the lobby to get to the showers was a bit awkward.

I had a fantastic stay at The Barn. The hotel is perfectly located, just a short drive to 1 of the attraction- Skogafoss, which made sightseeing incredibly convenient. The room was warm and cozy, which was exactly what I needed given Iceland's chilly weather. The heating system worked wonderfully, ensuring a comfortable retreat after a day of exploring. The staff were welcoming and helpful, and the hotel facilities were great, with everything I needed for a relaxing stay. I especially appreciated the spacious, clean room and the overall comfort of the hotel. Highly recommend this place for anyone visiting Iceland – it’s the perfect mix of location, comfort, and warmth!

The facilities were excellent! The entire building was well kept and beautifully decorated. Nice lounge area with seating for dining or just hanging out. Clean bathrooms and showers that were in excellent condition.

My wife and I shared a room with 4 bunks. We headed to bed around 11pm and were the only ones in the room. About 30 min after we went to bed we had roommates that showed up. Even though I think they were trying to be quiet they kept us up until midnight with their unpacking and such. I guess that is to be expected sometimes when you stay in a Hostel.

Best hostel I've stayed at! the beds were double beds instead of twins which was great for a couple. there was a full kitchen for guests which had lots of tools and utensils. there were a lot of showers and bathrooms so it wasn't a fight to get one as there were a lot of people staying there. There was bar that was open until midnight that served finger food. the hostel also supplied towels. It was a great location right near the black sand beach and enough outside of the Vìk that we were able to see the northern lights!

the hostel uses strong scented cleaning products and does a lot of cleaning, so it was very strong for someone sensitive to fragrances.
