The people!!! There are many very nice hotels in Washington DC ....what makes intercontinental stand out is THE PEOPLE! I am a executive protection agent and have stayed in just about every fancy hotel there is in Washington DC. Most of them have a superiority complex. The staff is so proud of themselves for working there they forget they're there to work for you! Not here, at the intercontinental Willard and the one on the Wharf the people who work there do an outstanding job. In my recent stay we had an unusual situation.... at about 5:30 AM. We had a situation that needed to be addressed immediately. And that is exactly what happened. The entire staff jumped into action and handled the situation better than expected. No need to go into details just know that when you stay at one of the intercontinental hotels in Washington DC the people who work there will take care of you even when it's 5:30 in the morning. Jaap Boelens, Vanessa Perez and Marisse Wong were the three employees I dealt with directly and they were outstanding! I hope this review finds its way to the main office and I hope they understand what a great team of people they have working at both of these hotels. And yes of course the entire hotel is beautiful the sheets are clean and nice the room is perfectly clean the locations are outstanding. We make at least a dozen trips to the Washington DC area every year and these two hotels will definitely be our home away from home moving forward.

Absolutely nothing the intercontinental hotels in Washington DC are outstanding.

The hotel is beautifully decorated and takes you back in time with its stunning architecture and decor. The hotel museum is a lovely addition and well worth the visit. The staff were extremely welcoming, I was celebrating my mum’s birthday and they made us feel very welcomed and even got her a cupcake and champagne, the customer experience manager Ali Ozen has extensive knowledge of the hotel and provided the absolute best and most professional customer service I have ever received, he went out of his way to show us the hotel facilities and discuss the hotels rich history. Thank you to Ali and his lovely staff for providing such a warm and welcoming stay.

Nothing I didn’t like.

Everything about the Willard is wonderful :). The Round Robin Bar in the lobby is a must. All staff are exceptional - front desk, housekeeping, bar staff, concierge desk. We had a wonderful large room with a king size bed. The bathroom was beautiful. We ordered room service breakfast that was delicious and arrived quickly. An amazing stay overall :)

Our stay was in August and it was very hot outside. Our air conditioning in our room worked perfectly and got nice and cool how I like it. However, there was a bang occasionally...like every 30 mins or so I would guess. We couldn't figure out exactly what it was but we concluded it must be coming from the air conditioning vent. Not sure. It didn't bother me but it did bother my boyfriend while we were sleeping. I just enjoyed the cold AC. :)

Breakfast was great. There was only two people causing long lines and overworking them. There was a black gentleman behind the counter who was so incredibly helpful and respectful. He was so friendly and made the experience better. I wish I got his name. He was great.

The lobby is beautiful but small. The bar staff was kind of rude when we came in a half hour before they were closing. You could tell they were very annoyed. We tipped them well and they became friendlier but it shouldn’t have taken that.

The hotel is just stunning! The staff was amazing and very welcoming. I think they went above and beyond to help us and made it a point to talk with us . Highly recommend.

Everything from the entrance to the room even eating breakfast in the cafe . Everything was incredible.

Couldn't fault the hotel or its location. Right bang in the centre of everything you need to see. Staff were accommodating and friendly and the breakfast was plentiful. Had no issues with checking in/out and concierge were on hand to provide bottles of water for the day ahead. We also ate at the hotel one evening and would recommend. The Willard even got a mention of the bus tour we did !

Struggled to get a drink at the bar as the Daughters of the American Revolution was happening.

Absolutely outstanding hotel, everything from the front desk to room service was perfectly done and customized. Historical building with old schools high-end service for VIP clients. Very clean, large and comfortable rooms, great location next to the White House and major sightseeings. I can put 10 starts from 5 and if possible.

The coffee in Cafe du Parc way expensive yet very mediocre Actually went to Starbucks after I purchased it and mixed it with their coffee to make it stronger

I requested a south-facing room if available to have a view of the south lawn, Washington Monument, or the Capitol and they upgraded us upon arrival which was wonderful and we had an amazing view that really made our stay worth the extra $ to stay at the Willard for a night :).

Price is always a factor even though I understand a hotel like this costs more money so that's the only bummer is that it is expensive. If it was a little cheaper we may have stayed more than one night instead of changing hotels.

The hotel was of a high standard with excellent service in a great location. We were upgraded to a suite as it was our first stay in the hotel.
