The bed was dressed with beautiful linens and premium pillows, it was super comfortable. The room was very spacious with a 15’ ceiling, exposed brick wall, huge window (with Venetian and blackout shades) and had a great ambiance! Excellent toiletries completed the well appointed bathroom - they even had a lighted makeup mirror that should be standard equipment but is rarely found in rooms at this price point. The inviting tree-dotted courtyard directly off of the lobby is a lovely place to unwind after hours on the road and the reception area, complete with complimentary freshly baked cookies and beverages, offered a nice place to relax and meet fellow travelers. Breakfast room was exceptionally enticing with an excellent hot buffet, fresh fruit and many options for non-egg eaters - this is not your average, sterile hotel breakfast experience . Parking was convenient and the front desk staff was friendly, courteous and helpful. I would go back in a heartbeat!
It was a little bit tricky finding the hotel after dark, it is situated just past a Y-shaped intersection and the front sits perpendicular to the street. The signage is a little bit subtle so I went right past the entrance driveway as the GPS announced that I had arrived. During the day I think I would have spotted it without any trouble but at night a well lighted “enter” sign would have made it easier to find.

Montgomery helped me get my luggage up to my room. The room was clean and spacious, as was the bath. The hot breakfast was tasty, and the coffee was very good. The servers were very attentive and kept the buffet well supplied. I enjoyed the complimentary wine and cheese, but I was particularly thrilled to make the acquaintance of the resident kitty (Flora, I think?). The free parking was a nice perk, and the front desk was responsive and helpful when I stopped by to ask a couple of questions.
Climate control in the room was tricky, because it was warm outside when I arrived about 4, but the temp dropped after sunset. I followed the instructions about the fan, but it felt chilly in the room overnight. The noise level — both outside the hotel AND inside — was the deal breaker. I stayed on Friday and Saturday nights, and folks out on the street were ignorant or uncaring about anyone trying to sleep. Meanwhile, people inside the hotel started leaving their rooms as early as 6:30AM and were talking loudly in the halls.

The charming room was furnished appropriately for the age of the historic building. The bathroom was spacious and the bed was comfortable. Everything was fresh and clean. the hot breakfast was good, and the nightly wine and cheese in the bar was very pleasant. I enjoyed walking to the Old Salem village, which was very close.
It took a long time to bring the temperature in the room up to a comfortable level, probably due to the exposed brick wall and the very high ceiling. The microwave seemed to overheat easily. The bottom of the bathtub sloped substantially from back to front, causing slight unease while showering.

A magical stay. Wonderful historic building with lots of charm. They host 2 fun social events in the evening. The first is cheese and wine and then milk and cookies. The rooms are huge. The terrace is beautiful. I highly recommend. It's just 2 mins from historical Winston-Salem area.
We were in a beautiful room unfortunately the lights on the terrace face our room and the blinds didn't block out enough light. It was hard to sleep without an eye mask. Thankfully I always have one. I think a blackout curtain could really help the situation 90%.

We rented a suite, which accommodated the three of us very well. I loved the care and creativity put into transforming a cotton mill into a hotel. The room looked very inviting, complete with a Chrismas tree! The lighting complemented the architecture. It was pleasant to stay in a unique environment. Everything was spotless, the bathroom very well appointed. The bed was very comfortable, the sheets - silky. The complementary wine and cheese in the evening was a welcome touch, particularly, after 7+ hours on the road.
The breakfast was "middle of the road", nothing to write home about, pretty much what you would get at Homewood Suites and such (the biscuits were better than HS!). A charming place like Brookstown Inn can do better that that!

Beautiful and charming historic building, great location in the middle of Old Salem. The wine and cheese reception, breakfast and cookies were all nice touches. I also loved the cat that roams in the property!
The mattresses were terrible! I wasn’t able to get a good night sleep. I went with a group of friends -4 rooms and all loved the place, but hated the beds! They need to invest on new mattresses or at least a mattress top. Also, the place need some maintenance, some lightbulbs were bury out, bathroom needs attention to detail, etc.

Location was great. The property itself is beautiful and so sensitively restored. The rooms are wonderful - quirky, but beautiful. Ours was very small but had a 25ft ceiling height! Sally the cat is a great addition and the staff were so helpful. The wine and cheese hour is delightful, sitting outside on the patio, and milk and biscuits is another lovely touch although I didn’t try it.
The breakfast was a bit disappointing given how lovely the rest of the hotel is. But that’s nothing.

Check in was super easy and the gentleman at the front desk was super friendly. He offered us milk and cookies (which are offered every night before bed) and then walked us to the building where our room was located. Our room was an absolute dream! It was huge and beautiful with exposed brick and old world charm. We slept so well in the comfortable bed. I don't think I have ever felt sheets that soft! The absolute bonus for me was the cat sleeping in the lobby area!
The only thing that could have been better was some signage. When we were trying to find the hotel it was a little confusing. The hotel is attached to the visitors center. When GPS informed us we had arrived, that confused us a bit. Once we drove around the building we saw signs for parking and realized we were in the right location.

We were initially not given the room we booked. The 2nd room had the 2 queen beds we booked but was on the 2nd floor and the elevator was out of order. Both my wife and I are handicapped and the climb was difficult. The sink in the bathroom would not drain properly. For a facility of this level, the breakfast was sub-standard. From the number of things out of order it would appear the property may be having financial problems.

Everything about the place was so special. The young lady at the desk when we checked in was super friendly and very knowledgeable about the area and Old Salem. We just loved our room! Very unique and I'd love to be able to see what some of the other rooms look like. The oversized bathtub was just that ! It was massive . They offer wine and cheese in the evening as well as warm cookies and milk before bed! The complimentary HOT breakfast was plentiful and well received. The hotel is within walking distance of Old Salem so it's super convenient to keep your car at the hotel and just walk up the hill.
Just a suggestion but maybe there could be an ATM possibly near the lounge or just in the lobby.
