Absolutely beautiful hotel on the on the lagoon and backed by mountains. Only 6 rooms so you feel like the only guests. Beautifully done and a fabulous room. One of the best things is the food - its fantastic, so meant the fact you're not within walking distance of restaurants doesn't matter. We didnt want to leave. Staff were lovely.

Nothing. Some other reviews mentioned being disturbed by children/families. What made the hotel so special was how peaceful it was. We were super relieved there were no kids when we were staying, as it would have really impacted our enjoyment.

The most beautiful thatched boutique hotel set in a very peaceful and stunning location overlooking the lagoon. Heaven!! It is about 5kms outside Hermarnous so not far and taxis available if needed. Our room, The Waterfall Suite was beyond beautiful. Honestly, have never stayed in such a beautifully decorated and clean room overlooking the stunning lagoon. The bedding is wonderful, the bed huge and very comfy. The balcony area was amazing and even had a personal sauna. The pool area is again very beautiful and peaceful set in fabulous gardens. The dining/lounge/bar area is also sublime. The food was very nice. You can also paddleboard, kayak, use the hot tub and so much more. A big thank you to Kim and all the wonderful staff who without exception were warm, friendly and wonderful. They couldn't do enough for you. Thank you. I am so sorry but i have forgotten the name of the lovely lady that looked after us most days. So sorry!! We stayed three nights and was very very sad to leave. If you want an amazing and memorable experience I would urge you to stay here. We have no hesitation in recommending The Thatch House and will most definitely return. Thank you again to everyone.

This is a beautiful house and location. Lake on one side mountain on the other. Rooms are superbly decorated with everything you might need. The service from all the staff was exemplary. This is our third visit , staying in different rooms each time. Evening meals were lovely and the best around anywhere we’d eaten in Hermanus.

Normally we have enjoyed complete tranquility here. But when we arrived the small pool area was occupied by family with 3 young boys. All the comfortable sun beds were occupied (8) and it felt a little noisy. Management went out of their way to accommodate us but we felt that since our last visit there has been a drive to be more ‘family friendly’…. changing its peaceful nature. We have paid between £400 to £650 per night in our last 3 visits.

My partner and I recently enjoyed two relaxing days at the Thatch House. The welcome and service was wonderful and we could see that all the staff had been well trained. Our room was beautifully decorated and was quiet as it faced the mountain. We look forward to visiting again soon.

Sadly, the dinners at the Thatch House were dissapointing and not up to the 5 star standard of the hotel. Although tasty, not much thought had gone into presentation or proper preparation of the food. But the pastry chef did a superb job and we enjoyed the desserts.

A haven of tranquility, peaceful surroundings with fantastic facilities, an amazing room with high quality furnishings and decor, safe and secure. Felt very at home for the couple of days we were staying.

The property is a good drive out of Hermanus which is the nearest option for eating out. A slight disadvantage but at the same time is the reason it's so peaceful and relaxing.

BED sheets had a sour smell however probably as a result of the ongoing wet weather.

This is one of the best hotels I have stayed in. The attention to detail is outstanding. Staff could not have been more helpful, attentive and friendly. The decor is beautiful. We received an upgrade due to the weather affecting our booked room. Food was excellent.

Nothing. We were there in the winter season when it was raining. I would love to stay here when the sun was shining because it would be even better.
