We really liked the stuff, especially Garry who was very friendly, responsive and engaged in making our stay enjoyable.

We have stayed in numerous 5 star properties around Kruger and Kambaku doesn’t live up to their standards. It is a nice place but does not really feel like a 5 star lodge, neither the facilities nor the rooms feel this way. Also the private pool was not cleaned for 2 first days and it really did not feel nice to be around it/ nor it was encouraging to use and the sun beds felt dirty and we were reluctant to lie down on them. We feel for the price we paid (we booked one of the more expensive rooms - the honeymoon suite) the value we got was not good.

Our second stay at Kambuku River Lodge was nothing short of spectacular. From the moment we arrived, it felt like coming home. The game drives, once again, were a highlight. Breakfast was a treat every morning—fresh and delicious. The lodge’s amenities are top-notch, blending luxury with nature. The room is comfortable and beautifully designed, offering stunning views of the river and the surrounding mountains. But it’s the staff that truly make Kambuku River Lodge stand out. Their warmth, attentiveness, and genuine care for guests are what elevate this place to another level. We’ll definitely be back for the third visit.

Dear Leanne and team, Thank you so much for the most magical few days at Kambaku. My partner and I have travelled a lot doing many safaris and our time here was second to none. The accommodation was truly a truly stunning and it was so special to have animals in the back yard then just over the fence were most of the big five during our stay as well. The staff were incredible, Dennis and Elvis brought smiles and joy each day then the massages were simply fantastic as well. Also the messaging system to keep upto day was incredible and very helpful. We loved all the food we got and it was amazing to have it all by our own pool as well. Anyone doing safari at Kruger would be lucky to stay here and we can’t wait to return. Thanks, Ollie and Maddie

Beautifully decorated accommodation in the most beautiful setting. One could not ask for a better way to treat yourself. Staff is friendly, helpful and professional. Room size and privacy is awesome and the room offers more than needed. The food was delicious and the way it was served right in front of our room was extra special, not to mention how lovely the table was set. We enjoyed watching the elephants and hippos right in front of Kambaku River Lodge.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay with Kambaku. The staff were friendly and always there if we needed something or had a question. It was peaceful and tranquil, which let us relax. They offer spectacular views of the Crocodile River and wildlife - even had some lions visit. Very accommodating, food to die for and extra special was the packed breakfast for our early departure to the park. Cannot wait to visit again.

The stay at Kambaku River Lodge was extremely pleasing. We were a party of three that went for a pampering session in the bush. From the moment we arrived we were treated like royalty. Nothing is too much trouble at Kambaku. Miriam and Nomsa that did body scrubs, full body massages and facials as well as OIP gel pedicures were professional and very pleasant to chat to. The breakfasts and dinners delivered to the Homestead were delicious. The boma fires lit by the staff at sunset were the cherry on the top. We saw elephant, buffalo, hippo, water buck and many bird species from the river deck while sipping our cocktails. A truly amazing experience.

There was nothing we didn't like

We had an amazing stay at Kambaku. Everything was perfect - Gary and his team's hospitality, the fantastic view, the huge room beautifully decorated, the gorgeous food and the animals you can watch from the garden. It is a little paradise that we thoroughly enjoyed. Be sure we will be back and for longer this time. Thank you for making our stay so special.

Nothing - it was simply perfect

20 minutes from Melanane gate, ideal for self drive but they also offer guided safaris The rooms are just from another world, extremely clean and spacious, offering privacy in quite an open establishment. The rooms are well designed with a South African taste, private terrace and if you book the right room, a cold plunge The garden and view over the Crocodile river are just something else. You see tracking elephants and hippos, and hear male Lions just roaring during sundown Hospitality was top notch; Dennis, Leanne and the other lady (sorry, forgot your name) do everything to make your stay comfy. Great dinner, freshly made and served by cooks. The dinner announcement drums are a very nice touch. Breakfast packs available if you are going on a morning safari. Would 100% recommend.

The staff bring the meals to enjoy in the comfort of your own patio. The staff are obliging and friendly. Anzelle is outstanding. The fires and candles are lit for you. The view overlooking the crocodile river into the Kruger National Park is spectacular! The animals coming to drink while we sipped wine is surreal! Amazing, Amazing, Amazing!!!

You could disturb the neighbours if you enjoy staying up late and chatting/laughing. 😀

Fantastic location, friendly team, amazing dinners and breakfast. Huge packed breakfast if you are heading out for an early morning drive. A real home away from home feel.
