From the moment we arrived at this enjoyable guest house, we were warmly welcomed. The staff went above and beyond to ensure every detail of our stay was perfect, greeting us with a friendly smile. The room was spotlessly clean. Each morning, we were treated to a delicious homemade breakfast that set a wonderful tone for the day. The tranquil garden offered a peaceful retreat where we could unwind after a day.

What truly set this guest house apart was the atmosphere of care and attention to detail. It’s clear that the hosts take great pride in their establishment, creating an experience that felt both personal and luxurious.

The whole house including my room, dining area, indoor and outdoor lounge areas are beautifully decorated. The gardens in particular are spectacular and without them,the beauty of the whole place would not be the same. My room was large and well equipped - the ensuite had both a shower and a bath, and the bed was very comfortable. I relaxed in the comfortable lounge chair in the evenings and if you want to work, there is a large desk and chair. The staff are wonderful - especially Estelle - and cannot do enough to make you feel at home and meet your needs. Breakfasts are the best. I arrived terribly late at night due to several flight delays and was met by the owner herself, Patricia, who was very gracious and settled me into my room. I highly recommend Burkleigh House.

The gardens around the property are phenomenal, simply beautiful. Plenty of birdlife around to watch while you are having breakfast. Breakfast is exceptional, fresh ingredients and prepared by staff that know what they are doing, a big thumbs up! The location is quiet and peaceful, a little oasis in Johannesburg. I also enjoyed the antique furniture that you can find in the property. Well taken care of pieces of history! I can highly recommend this place and I will be back for sure!

I stayed in room 5 and one of the bathroom light bulbs was not working.

Burleigh House was an absolute gem! From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warmth and hospitality by the lovely Esther. She was incredibly attentive and made us feel right at home. Her knowledge of the area was invaluable, and she went above and beyond to ensure we had the best possible experience. The house itself was beautifully appointed and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The location was perfect, with easy access to shops, restaurants, and attractions. Overall, our stay at Burleigh House was fantastic. Esther's exceptional service, combined with the comfortable and convenient accommodations, made it a truly memorable experience. We can't wait to return!

Absolutely Everything! Estella was really efficient and even though we arrived late, and we hadn't informed her of our arrival time due to technical problems, she welcomed us and made us settle nicely. The breakfast selection was as good as you can find in a good restaurant. See photo. We stayed here for 2 nights and had the pleasure of selecting 2 diferent main breakfast options. We also met the David and Patricia, the owners. Such wonderful hosts and we enjoyed talking to them very much. David showed us around his property and made time to find out more about us. The property is very well kept. The gardens are a delight to see. Would love to come back in full bloom to enjoy the space more. This is a gem in Jo Burg!

Everything was excellent, my only complaint is that we had a crisis with our car outside of the premises, we were phoning after five to let someone know that we might be late but no one answered any of the phone numbers ( numbers from the web and bookings.com), or the whatsapps. other than that we had a lovely stay and would recommend

That no one answered the phone when we phoned, for a guesthouse it is a bit bad that no one answered.

Breakfast at Burkleigh House was like dining in a gourmet paradise. Going back to a regular hotel breakfast will feel like being in a culinary desert where the most exciting feature is the sad, soggy catering bacon. Burkleigh's rooms are excellent but I'd go back just for the breakfast. Lovely cut fresh fruits, with museli and Woolie's double think yoghurt and cranberry juice, and then an excellent eggs benedict. Superb! The gardens are stunning too - it's a beautiful oasis in Joburg.

The gardens were out of this world and the property was imaculate. Our room was amazing!!!

The shower head was too big and if it was smaller the water pressure would be way better / I battled to wash my face and body without wetting my hair and battled to wash my hair as the pressure was too low. Other than that the stay was really lovely!!!

The most tranquil setting in the heart of our busy lifestyle, the staff were ready and waiting and we had such a warm welcome. The gardens are immaculate and has such a calm and peaceful enjoyment. Breakfast was a pleasant surprise and the property owners were so delightful to chat with. Really loved the short stay!

Only a couple of very minor things. The teapot provided had a very fine leak at the base which allowed steam to come out onto one's fingers if not careful. Sink area very small - not sure what could be done there? A draining board would also help.
