This place is a little slice of paradise, the kind of place you dream about returning to as soon as you leave. In fact, our family group of 12 voted St Lucia the place we'd most likely to return to on our 2-week trip to South Africa and Zimbabwe. Let's begin with the setting in a lush tropical garden. Our spacious, comfortable room was embraced by greenery so that we felt protected, comforted and refreshed. A few steps up the driveway was the reception in a gorgeous, expansive living room with a floor to ceiling pizza oven style fireplace and comfortable seating, adjacent to the covered outdoor terrace where we were served our copious, delicious breakfast. Speaking of which, the breakfast was divine. In addition to an extensive buffet of cold items, they also prepare a hot breakfast to order for you. I'm sorry I can't list all the items available because I'm a gluten-free vegan, but I can say that they went to great lengths to accommodate my diet. I had almond milk and gluten-free toast, and they even made some blueberry oatmeal bars just for me. Wow! And, of course, what really makes this place special is the owner, Colin. He says not to believe everything you read, but the glowing reviews about him are true. He greeted us when we arrived, showed us to our rooms, and then met us at the bar to offer us a welcome drink, and tell us about St Lucia and answer any questions we had. He waited up every night to greet us when we returned from dinner before he retired for the evening. He truly loves running a guest house! No detail is too small for him to attend to. We forgot to bring up our bag of laundry one evening before our 5 a.m. departure for a game drive the next morning. He said he would fetch it from our room the next day and get it washed. I needn't have worried that he might have forgotten because we returned to find our laundry clean and folded on our bed.
We loved everything! There is nothing not to like in paradise.

I had the pleasure of staying at Colin’s place in Wetlands St. Lucia, KZN, from November 22 to 24, and it was an absolutely fantastic experience. From the moment we arrived, Colin’s warm hospitality and attention to detail made us feel right at home. The accommodation was spotless, comfortable, and perfectly equipped with everything we needed for a relaxing stay. The serene surroundings and proximity to the wetlands added an extra charm, making it an ideal spot for anyone looking to connect with nature. Colin was always available to offer helpful tips about the local area, including the best spots to explore and dine. What truly set this experience apart was Colin’s genuine passion for ensuring his guests have a memorable stay. His thoughtful touches and personalized care were evident throughout our visit. I highly recommend Colin as a host and would gladly return for another visit. Thank you, Colin, for making our weekend in St. Lucia unforgettable! Thabiso, Eshowe

Everything....the best breakfasts we had in our 5-week stay in SA. The garden is beautifully landscaped, and the entire guesthouse is tastefully decorated with interesting and unique items. Colin and Natalie are wonderful hosts and very knowledgeable about the area and gave valuable advice during our stay. They have thought of everything to make your stay as pleasant as possible. For example, the room had plenty of space to store luggage out of the way. The bathroom had plenty of space to put your toiletries. The list goes on and on. The staff is remarkable, Clement even washed and vacuumed our car! The laundry service was also perfect.we are
Nothing. All was perfect.

I've been in few countries around the world: from East to West Africa, Europe and U.S and South America - and I've never seen a host with this much hospitality. Colin made our stay one to remember. From giving us tips about St Lucia, to making sure we felt at home. The place has a lovely garden, filled with native/exotic plants and trees. If you want to relax and travel through time - this is the place to go. Loved the vintage decor, with board games and everything. Definitely will be coming back
Nothing to complain about, only regret was staying only for 2 nights.

Colin and his family run their guesthouse with love and passion for making their guests feel at home. We couldn't have felt more welcome and looked after, including advice on places of interest, restaurants and offer of fresh fruit before bed. The selection of food at continental breakfast is great and the omelettes are 5star! Our three children rated the hot chocolate and home baked banana bread & pancakes as highlight of their holiday. The location is perfect for easy walks to the town of St.Lucia as well as to the beach. Would definitely come back to Wetlands Guesthouse!
The only suggestion for possible improvement would be the water-pressure in the showers.

The guesthouse is beautiful and the location is perfect. Rooms are big and very comfortable, the atmosphere is relaxing and the breakfast is very good and rich. A special mention to the owner, Colin, always very pleasant, kind and helpfull. Upon our arrival he welcomed us with an aperitif and gave us all the necessary information about the place and the various tours. If we will come back in St Lucia for sure we will return here.

What a beautiful place! Everything has been perfect here: relaxing pool area, the room was beautiful, it was perfectly clean, the breakfast was great and Colin and Natalie are very nice people, always there to help and make you feel welcome. Whether it’s the welcome drink upon arrival, or an additional breakfast to takeaway when we went on an early morning safari - they really think of everything. They pay so much attention to small details and this is what makes this place so special and makes you feel welcome. Definitely one of the best places to stay when in St Lucia!

We had a wonderful two night stay here. The staff is incredibly friendly and always there to tell you exactly how to spend your day and also explain a lot about St. Lucia and its surroundings. Our 1 1/2 days spent here we had to do zero planning because Colin sent us an email beforehand with an itinerary and upon arrival explained more so we did exactly what was suggested and had a lovely time. The personal touches the owners make, make you feel like part of the family. The pool was also nice to cool off for a second after a long day in the Wetlands Park and all the trees and flowers surrounding were just a lovely added touch. Also the breakfast was amazing and the filter coffee from a proper filter coffee brewing machine was such a relief! They even packed us breakfast on the day we left since we had to leave so early on our way to the airport. The hotel is extremely well upkept and very clean and a great central location. The WiFi could be stronger but for making travel plans, emails and social media it’s fine but quite spotty. I take high quality photos and uploading them was tough, but that could be a problem of the area as well.

This was the most amazing stay we had on the 28 days we were in South Africa. Colin is a fantastically hospitable host. Nothing was too much for him. Moreover, it is very nice that we could talk to him in Dutch and he in Afrikaans. The kids loved him too! Together they watched the “geitjie” (gecko) on the walls. If we come back to South Africa we will stay at the Wetlands Guest House again no matter what.

Colin and Natalie are the best hosts I've come across! We were greated with a welcome drink after our long drive from Durban and Colin provided us with exceptional tips and itinerary suggestions for our stay. In conversation with Colin, my wife and I mentioned that it was our honeymoon and Colin went out of his way the next day to arrange something special for us. The room was spacious, clean and with all the amenities we needed. The breakfast was divine and with one of the best presentations I've seen. The pool was a great way to refresh after a long day at isimangaliso natural park. 10/10 cannot recommend this place enough.
Nothing to report Everything was excellent Colin and Natalie, just keep being the fantastic hosts that you are :)
