This hotel is in an amazing location, you can walk to so many fun and historical places nearby (Insadong, Cheonggyecheon, etc.) and there are infinite restaurant options right outside. The complimentary breakfast was great! Eggs, toast, fresh/ripe (delicious!) fruit, tea, cereal, etc. Better than your average continental hotel breakfast offerings for sure. We love our eggs so we were happy to have them there, freshly made, each morning! The staff was super helpful, kind and friendly. The shower was awesome, the sink was nice and big, and the room even had a fancy toilet. I loved the cold water bottle filler in the lobby, especially since Seoul was unseasonably warm while were there. They even have some vending machines if you need a toothbrush or whatever. We thought the price was super reasonable too. Glad my friend picked this little gem of a place and we were able to stay there also.

I have nothing negative to say, it was a great place to stay while in Seoul!

We had a "luxury twin room" and it was really modern, comfortable and super clean. A special mention for the design of the room and particularly the bathroom, equipped with a designer bath, a super large Italian-style shower, and separate fancy high-tech toilets (that require a little learning though!). The entrance with double doors isolating the room from the hallway is a plus. There was no street view (our room was facing the other hotel next to ours and almost at harm-length from it), so basically no view at all but the window could be opened to get fresh air and double curtains allowed to manage both privacy and darkness. Beds were very comfortable by a Westerner's standards. Breakfast was not great but adequate; there was also a kettle and a little fridge with water bottles in it. Last but not least, location was really perfect to explore the central districts of Seoul using only walk and public transit. Overall a great value. I would return anytime.

The breakfast takes place in a window-less dining room in the basement that is a bit dark and stuffy. Staff was nice and helpful but their English is basic and sometimes communication was a bit complicated. AC was a bit unintuitive to use (it works with the same remote as TV), while the heater is controles separately on a wall command. Also beware: the plugs located by the bed are in Korean type only, which is a bit unique. But there is a multi-format wall plug by the desk.

Excellent location- cannot be any better. Close to all tourist spots either via train or walk. Friendly staff Cosy rooms which reflect a 5 star hotel room.

Breakfast was decent- but would be better if pastries are added to the menu. Also, cheese, tomato and cucumber will be good. I get it’s a basic breakfast, but a few additions will make it so good. With its current situation it was ok as I did help me get through the morning. It was a bit loud when you open the windows- but so guess this is nothing to do with the hotel!

The location of hotel next to Jong-Gag metro and between Insadong and Ikseondong Hanok Village is great. Lots of caffe and small shops in the neighborhood and local night life - it is a must do experience. Reading old rewievs I was a bit sceptical about the stay and my expectation ware low. Well my stay was GREAT! The owner adresed and resolved all the major guests minuses. Reception staf speaks english and explain hotel cleaning policy and invites you to free brekfast in the morning. Cleaning is done only at guest request. Rooms are big for Seoul and clean. Bed is realy confortable and you get remotcontroler for everything, even flushing a toilet. "Small" breakfast is experience on itst own. In the basement is a retro room with bigscreen TV playnig korean news and a "grendpa" serving you insant noodles, toast, boiled eggs, ... A brekfast as you would receive at you Korean grandparents house.

The May Hotel is a boutique hotel located in the historical district of Jongno. It’s only a few steps away from the hanbok village of Ikseondong, filled with many delicious restaurants and coffees, as well as diverse shops. The area is safe and extremely well connected with subway lines 1, 3 and 5 available right up the street. Lines 2 and 4 aren’t too far either. The famous Gwangjang food market within walking distance too. During the day the neighborhood is frequented by the elderly, but gets very lively at night (on the weekends it gets loud) with street food, tent bars and pochas. There are a few tourists (most coming back from or going to Ikseondong or Chandeokgung palace), but not as much as in other tourist-y areas like Myeongdong. You’ll be immersed in Korean culture. For breakfast I went to a small shop frequented by local grandpas (before the Twosome Place) that makes delicious lattes and milk teas. My room was clean, spacious and nicely decorated. They won’t enter your room for cleaning unless you ask at the desk, which I appreciated. Personnel was always pleasant, polite and as helpful as they could (special thanks to Mr Kim!), even if they don’t speak much English. You get free coffee, water, Netflix and fast wifi in every room. Bed is just right, not too soft or hard. There was both a shower and a bathtub. Water pressure was very good, although water could take some time to get hot. The toilet has a heating seat which was nice touch, but be careful of putting too much paper in it.

Not ideal for long stays. You’ll find no amenities such as gym, laundry, dining area or rooftop bar, so it can get complicated after a while. In the rooms there is barely any storage for personal effects. One important thing is, you pay at check in, not check out. For those reasons I think it’s more like a nice motel rather than a true hotel. The room I ended up with was spacious, luminous and very comfortable, however I had to insist. At first I was put in 2 rooms that were dark and smelled of tobacco. (Not sure how, since there are smoke detectors and smoking is forbidden). But Mr Kim was helpful and made sure that I was happy with my room.

The staff was very helpful. They changed our room on request as the room allotted to us did not have the door to the wash room..We requested and they changed the room.

The bath tub area is not enclosed and we felt very uncomfortable using it.

Great location, few mins walk from metro exits with escalator/ stairs. Lots of eateries nearby. Washroom comes with bidet and separated bath with tub. Good shower amenities. Helpful and friendly front desk staff 😊 Thanks!

Tap was loose and shaky. Bed and pillows overly soft to our liking and felt like ‘sinking’. A lot of dust on the air conditioner outlet and certain common surfaces, temp unable to control thus quite hot. Room view facing wall of building beside.
