It would be impossible to find a cleaner, more stylish and more comfortable hotel anywhere! The fact that it is run by a fabulously hospitable family makes it all the more wonderful.Special mention must go to Joseph who helped us with travel advice for our trip to San Sebastian, his sister who served us attentively and his mother (the delightful Maria) whose smile greeted us at breakfast every morning.We would return without hesitation!

This place was an unexpected total gem. We were a group of 9 people doing a pilgrimage through northern Spain, and this was by far one of our best experiences. Larañaga is a family owned business by Alfred, Maria, and their daughter Olatz. They welcomed our group with great attention and care. They made us feel like their own family. It probably helped that Maria seemed especially fond of our priest traveling with us :-) The rooms were spacious, clean, and almost luxurious. We were treated to dinner the first evening and breakfast the next morning with phenomenal Basque cuisine. The breakfast had a huge variety of homemade pastries and delicacies of Basque cuisine. I felt like this was a steal for the price they charged. Frankly, it seems ridiculous to me that this is listed as a 1 star hotel. It felt more like a 3-4 star hotel.

Joseba and his family were super warm and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble, and they went out of their way to make our stay great. The room was beautiful, with a traditional, arched stone ceiling and a balcony. The restaurant had an authentic, traditional ambience. Romantic (but affordable). We highly recommend Hotel Larranaga to anyone looking for a uniquely Spanish experience.

Family room was well priced and matched the descriptions. The lady at breakfast was particularly welcoming and helpful. Lots of items at breakfast but maybe the many creamy cakes should have been kept cool and under cover. A pity we arrived on a Sunday so there was no evening meal available. However a pleasant stay and overall highly satisfactory.

An exceptional stay. We travelled from the Uk and arrived at 10pm at night. It was no bother for them to make us dinner even though they were going to be closing shortly. The food was lovely and all homemade. We were shown to our room which was super clean and had lots of character we loved the style and the bed was very comfortable. We enjoyed our breakfast the next morning and they even offered to give us food to continue our trip to Portugal when we left. We loved it so much we have rebooked for when we make our trip back to the UK in a couple of weeks time. They couldn’t do enough for us!! Would highly recommend! Many thanks 😊

The breakfast was splendid. A whole array of sweet and savoury, all made by the elderly lady who we communicated with in our very bad Spanish. Everyone was very friends. We ate dinner there one night and it was fine. But the breakfast was outstanding. Our room was lovely too, with a huge bed and a big terrace. It's an unusual layout, with a "common room" that the bedrooms open out onto, with a billiard table in the middle. Quaint but nice.

I was a little disappointed by the location. In the photos it seems to be in the middle of the countryside, but it is in fact in a quite urban area, with a small factory, something to do with wood, across the road. But it didn't really matter, it didn't take long to get into the rural area. It was just a small surprise.

Loved the traditional Spanish feel and the authenticity of the staff. The breakfast was fantastic, definitely an ‘indulge’ and the views were stunning. The bar terrace was great, and the bedroom was a good size. The bathroom was lovely. Parking was very easy ☺️

Nothing not to like. Maybe some sun loungers on the terrace would be a nice touch and a fridge but all was very acceptable.

The hotel is a basque traditional structure worth to visit not onfly for the large rooms and the exceptional and abundant breskfasts but overall for the kindness of mrs Maria, the madame who has been running the hotel for the last 52 years and is now helped by her son and doughter. She is also the cook of extraordinary suppers you can have in the hotel restaurant. The kindness of this family is the ingredient that will make your trip great!

Comfortable hotel just outside the town. Staff were very friendly and helpful, albeit they seemed very busy & so service wasn't always fast. Good bedrooms.

Worth noting that the hotel is not in an area with lots of options for eating & the restaurant does not open on a Sunday evening. Fortunately they sorted out some food for us which was fine.

All the staff we encountered were excellent and very patient with our limited Spanish. The room was very clean and a good size, with a nice private terrace. We had dinner in the restaurant. Great menu and very good value for money. Breakfast was also excellent. We often travel to Spain from our home in France and would definitely stay here again. Free parking was also available.
