I picked this hotel because of its location on the corner across from Placa de Catalunya which made it very convenient for walking various parts of the city. The hotel is in a six story beautiful old charming building but the hotel only occupies two floors with the lobby on the third floor with some rooms and the rest of the rooms on the second floor. I understand that other parts of the building are Air B&B. The refrigerator was a small but not stocked with expensive items so you have the refrigerator space for yourself. The elevator holds about two people. The staff were exceptional and the hotel is old but very clean. Upon my arrival they gave me a box of candy and a small bottle of cava which was a nice touch. I had a small quiet room which I expected just off the lobby level which was comfortable for my four day stay. It is not a luxury type hotel but very functional and clean with reasonable pricing. They offer an optional breakfast at a nearby cafe with a ten percent discount which I did not use. Aerobus service to and from the airport is in front of nearby El Corte Ingles Department Store.

When selecting our hotel for our Barcelona short stay, we chose Hotel Ginebra mainly because of its location and ease of access from the airport with the aerobus. We also like the 24 hour reception and to have breakfast included. We had a room with a view on Plaza Catalunya - yes it was small but the bed was king size and very comfortable and we did not spend much time in the room anyway! The room had all the facilities you expect and nice touch on arrival to have a welcome gift in the fridge. Very helpful staff too.

If you prefer buffet style breakfast, then just book a room at the Hotel. Breakfast is just round the corner at an Italian restaurant and at 8.50 euros per person it consists of one coffee, one fruit juice and one sweet or savoury croissant - obviously you can order more drinks/food for which you need to pay.

The location of the hotel couldn't be better. Right on Placa de Catalunya, It had all modes of transportation, the Metro, the airport bus, a taxi stand, busses like the bus 24 to Park Gruel stop here. This is the center of Barcelona. It is walking distance from shops and restaurants as well as many attractions as Las Ramblas, Bari Gotic Area, and Eixample walk to Gaudi houses of Casa Mila, Casa Batllo and Casa Amatlier. The Sagrada Familia is a short metro ride away. It has a 24 hour lobby, a place to store luggage,an elevator, fridge, AC, and windows are well insulated from sound.

Although the rooms are adequate for space, they are smaller than american hotel rooms and lack a dresser to keep clothes. There is a large bathroom and an area to hang clothes, but no dresser. My room had a queen bed and a view of the square, but if you opt for a twin or full bed, the rooms can get quite small.

Location excellent by Cataluña Plaza. Room excellent with the view to the Plaza. No breakfast included in my package. I love this Hotel. Ginebra is a word common in the Philippines because we have a vodka there called "San Miguel Ginebra" or SMB. I truly appreciate the staff of Ginebra like Valentina and the others (cleaners and receptionist) because they all gave me comfort and very pleasant feeling during my entire stay. I was even given a treat for their coffee. Very clean. Quiet. Reasonable price. And I love the feeling of living in a very old 20th century building.

I do not call it an inconvenience at all when I realized that the lift starts to function only on the mid-first floor level which means my luggage had to be manually carried to the first floor lift area. The receptionist though assisted me in carrying my luggage up.

Location was superb - close to all the main attractions and old town. I didn't even need to use the subway to get around. Bus to/from the airpot is about 200m away and runs every 5 minutes or so (maximum 20 if you travel in the middle of the night) The room was bigger than I expected. Check in was super fast, people who work at this place are super friendly and welcoming.

Found a hair on my pillow when I arrived, but given that it's a 1 star hotel the room, cleanliness and the whole experience was a lot better than I thought. To be fair, I usually stay at 3 or 4 star properties, but given it was Easter pretty much all the central properties were booked and I was lucky to get the last room available in this place, so I'm very greatful and would highly recommend this place. Will probably book it again next time around :)

The location is great! The hotel is just off Plaza de Catalunya, the last stop for the Barcelona Aerobus T1 about a 35 minute ride from the airport. Plaza de Catalunya is a busy transportation hub for the Metro and Buses. The hotel is a short walk to the Rambla. Hotel Ginebra is in an historic building with large rooms and high ceilings. The staff is friendly and helpful and speak English.

The weekend we stayed at the hotel there were noisy celebrations in the Plaza de Catalunya on Friday and Saturday nights lasting until 2:00 a.m. making it difficult to sleep despite the soundproof windows on the terrace to our bedroom.

Great location. Excellent customer service. Employees went above and beyond to make sure my stay was exceptional. This is not a negative, but I was a little confused when I arrived. The hotel is on the 3rd floor. It's difficult to tell that it is a hotel. Was very similar to a B&B but with superior customer service. Excellent location. Close to everything. I felt very safe. It's in a great part of the city (even my former tour manager said so).

I had trouble understanding that the hotel was upstairs on the 3rd floor. Maybe that needs to be noted in the information. Even though it doesn't have a high star rating under "hotels," it was better than the 4-star hotel I stayed in the night before. It's more like a 5-star B&B (without the breakfast).

The hotel location can't be beat for proximity to transport, eateries, and popular tourist sites. That being said, the location also comes with street noise if you book a room with a view. You soon get used to it, however. As a boutique hotel, it is unique; integrating rooms on 2 different floors in an old apartment/business block. It makes you feel more like a local than a transiting tourist. There were a couple of issues that were addressed quickly. Response via WhatsApp once I was in Barcelona was very good, with clear details provided prior to arrival. There is a secure luggage storage if required. I highly recommend this hotel if you prefer a unique, local flavour.

Great location in Barcelona and very close to Metro and restaurants. The breakfast is not at the hotel but at a restaurant nearby with minimal choices but it was good. The hotel is in an old office building which we didn't know. Our flight was late which we did contact the hotel about. I didn't realize that the name of the hotel was visible very high on the building so it was difficult to find and you needed to see that near the front door had a buzzer to contact the hotel for entry. We missed these items but a resident let us in the building and the hotel entrance is on the 3rd floor. Very nice staff once we figured out where to access this hotel.
